1. Me too. I acquired a very cheap Yamaha RBX 270 F/L from evilbay to see if I could get on with it, loved it, upgraded chunks of it and now it features regularly! It is lined though, which I believe is frowned upon in these parts.
2. On a related note Ian Anderson is touring the full TAAB show this year. I have my tickets!
3. I have just sold my two Ashdown cabs a 210T and a 115 for a BF Compact (Midget on its way to make up the rig) which I ran/run with a GK MB500 amp. The Compact on its own is awesome and will be absolutely fine for pubs/clubs etc. maybe even a Midget on its own. My whole rig (amp and 2 cabs) will then weigh just 23kgs.
4. The bridge on my MIM P is a standard Fender BBOT. My main issue is that on occasion if I'm digging in a bit it does feel like the string occasionally moves slightly which is a bit disconcerting. IMHO it's an area that Fender took too long to address when they are selling basses for serious money with a faily ropey bit of hardware. As it's a 10 year old Mexican bass I don't feel that it will devalue the instrument in any way so I'm considering a change. As has been pointed out above the Gotoh is $40 and the Bad Ass is $90 so I was wondering whether there was a strong preferance amongst you more experienced players and whether the Bad Ass is more than twice as good as the Gotoh.
5. What do we think people? Change it or leave it?
6. For the core strengthening exercises work well e.g. "The Plank" and its friends...
7. Given that a £20k+ violin such as those in the test will take up to 1 year to make there is considerably more scope for variation in the manufacturing process comapred to even the luthier made basses.

P bass poll

Not Oblivious to Pedantry then?
9. If you've not done so already Vintage Trouble are very much worth the effort - Soul/R&B (that's proper R&B not Rhianna/Beyonce R&.

What's an OP btw, is it Original Post(er) or something more exciting and interesting?
11. Is there anybody within approx 1 hour of Chorley (Lancs) who is in possession of a Midget or a Midget T and could tollerate me trying it out with my BF Compact please? I've a second Compact on order with Alex, but I'm still curious about the M/C rig as opposed to the C/C option I'm heading towards. Cheers...
12. I've had good experiences in music shops in Bolton, and know most of the team in the one on Chorley Old Road well (HW I think it's called). Also at Booths for that matter. Never tried to buy flats though, and from the retailer point of view I wonder how much stock they would have to carry to keep say 80% of visitors happy?

P bass poll
Further pedant alert: I assume you mean dyslexia? As to the question, well I didn't vote because I didn't find an option that said 'None - I don't like Precision basses'. Which, for me at least, makes any question that might be there irrelevant. Tips to the OP (in case it isn't already blindingly obvious): 1. Even if it seems too obvious to say it, ask the question anyway. The purpose of a poll is to get an answer to a question. 2. If you can, try to include a 'get out' or 'spoiler' option for the small number of poor benighted suckers who don't adhere to your world view of (in this case) the bass guitar. [/Pedantry]
In answer to the above, however you spell it dyslexia is not much fun ...and typing/reading posts is difficult at times. Ref. 1. The Poll is called P Bass Survey (if you don't have a P bass and/or don't like them it's not compulsory to partake) and the first question is how old - not too tricky; the second rounds or flats, again probably reasonably easy to get to grips with Ref. 2. I don't have a world view of basses. 25% of my instruments are Ps. It was intended as a bit of fun at Christmas. Sorry to disappoint.

P bass poll

Sorry can't help the dislexia... What I was trying to ascertain is that for those owners of a Precision Bass(es), how old is it/are they and what is it/are they strung with. Don't see why you can't include a Chistmas list item that Santa cruelly overlooked if you want?
15. Multiple entries allowed for everything. I just went for the decades thing otherwise could get very involved with pre CBS dates etc etc.
16. I've moved to Picato now as I prefer them and they're also reasonably wallet friendly at about £18.
17. Cheers fellows. Is there a particular way to identify compatible SPs from vendors, i.e. do they specifiy which basses match their template? It's early days yet and I've not decided what I'm looking for colour wise nor gone hunting for suppliers (midnight wine bass, parchment SP at present).
18. If I wanted to change the scratch plate on my Fender MIM P is it as simple as removing the control knobs, undoing the screws and then reversing the process? Slightly emabarrassed to ask
19. Just acquired a lovely MIM P bass. A pleasure to deal with, excellent comms, brutally honest description of the bass and a genuinely nice bloke. A top banana.
20. Looks good. There seems to be a bit of a movement to BF cabs on here now.
21. I'm jealous (but only a tiny bit as I'm running a Compact - very soon to be two Compacts!)
22. I used to have a 1x15 and a 2x10 Ashdown rig. This had now become a 1x15 Barefaced Compact rig which sounds pretty much the same in terms of "volume" and weighs 12kg compared to 56kgs for the two Ashdown cabs and occupies approximately 1/3 of the space in the back of my estate car. It's also cleaner and much more defined tone across the whole range. I'm awaiting delivery of a second cab, not because it's necessary to keep up with the two guitars, but because 2 Compacts will be be an awseome combination! The BF Sper 12 might be worth investigating, but get in touch with Alex at BF who is completely brilliant at customer service.
23. I was just about to start a slightly different version of this as I feel a Fender P is probably a bit out of my budget. So I hope you don't mind me dropping in on this thread! I was looking at Squiers and the Vintage V4 range as a starting point and was after a few comments - particularly on the Vintage basses as they seem to be similarly spec'd but that bit cheaper? There was a white V4 on evilbay getting no love at all that looked in decent condition (apart from a dodgy sticker) - my favourite hue for a P. For info. I've c. £200 +/- to spend. What are the Squier MIJ basses like? Cheers
24. Yeah, it looked like one of those too-good-to-be-true items you see on evilbay. I'd never heard of them so was just curious...
