1. But wher's the fun in that
2. I will contemplate a bass version incorporating all of the above, but I'll have to squeeze it onto A0 paper. Alternatively I might just do a simpler one

Oh YES!

Missed the first 45 mins of the gig, but I was there anyway! Looking forward to the documentary when I get home tonight...
4. Any views on Fly From Here? Personally I like it although I need to track down the version that never made it onto Drama...
5. I'm afraid I dont' recollect who owned it but there was a Ric with black everything that I deeply coveted.
6.
Off to see yes at Colston Hall, Bristol on Wednesday. I may sound like a bit of an anorak but I will have seen every UK tour since 1968.
Good man. I'd be lying if I said all of them, but I've attended quite a lot of them myself.
7. Saw them in Manchester on Sunday. Great show, with possible over-progginess in Fly from here with CS doing the if-Steve-can-have-a-guitar-on-a-stand-then-I-want-a-bass-on-a-stand-too Set list from Manchester: Yours Is No Disgrace Tempus Fugit I've Seen All Good People Life on a Film Set And You And I Steve Solo-Solitaire Fly From Here Wondrous Stories Into the Storm Heart of the Sunrise Starship Trooper Encore - Roundabout Bliss....
8. Some of my personal favs (I make no apologies for being a proghead ): La Gazza Ladra - Marillion Seconds Out - Genesis Atlanta - Porcupine Tree A New Day Yesterday - Joe Bonamassa and of course Yessongs
9. I've seen BA55 AMP that I understand is Ashdown related?
10. Also pick your songs carefully. Our 4-piece became a 3-piece for a year or so and I found it very enjoyable/scary in equal measures. Doesn't half make you think about what you play and when you play it! When's your next gig? I'll come along if possible...
11. My Spector Legend 4 was my first non-very-low-budget bass and has been gigged for about 5-6 years now. I've just acquired a Warwick Corvette Std (from c. 2009, Bubinga body, Ovangkol neck, made in Germany) strung with flats (from a Basschat member). This is a beautiful bass and the neck is definitely slimmer than the Spector. Which do I prefer? Very hard to say. As they both sound different I tend to alternate - sorry a complete cop out there!
12. Are we not in danger of identifying bassists not only because of tone/style/sound etc but by the song. To prove the fact I think a blind audition of recordings of all the above playing the same songs in a variety of genres. Then we'd know.
13. First impressions are excellent. It's strung with flats and has a really deep creamy sound. Very promising!
14. Just acquired a Warwick Corvette Std from mojobass. Great bass, top bloke and good communications. Everything went very smoothly and I'd definitely buy from him again!
15. Overly excited as picking up Warwick Corvette today from mojobass. Never owner a Warwick before so much anticipation....
16. My Ric 4003 Jetglo
17. Just behind the bloke on the left standing next to the girl with very short hair
18. I've three basses all quite different in character. The fretless, a modded RBX270, probably gets the most use as it mostly lives on the stand, then the Overwater Aspiration then the Spector (both in hard cases). It just depends what I feel like. They all get gigged though.
19. He certainly had a Rickenbacker on the go plus fuzz pedals and a Shergold but I can't remember what amps he was using. He also used a lot of organ type pedals whilst playing accoustic guitar.
20.
I might be showing my age here, but that bass reminds me a lot of John Mayall's carved guitar, late '70's era For those of you who are young John Mayall used to play with Eric Clapton in a blues band called John Mayall and the Bluesbrakers, I think Clapton replaced Peter Green or the other way around, still... bloody good band.
I used to have one of their LPs it must have been around 1975 or 76 if my (unreliable) memory serves.
21. I quite liked one I tried, but still settled for a Spector in the end.
22. I acquired a cheap fretless from evilbay not too long after picking up a bass for the first time, although as a violin player I am not particularly concerned about frets so no major shock. Still takes a bit of getting used to and makes you listen to what you're playing which is good. I recorded myself playing scales on my fretted bass then played along to that on the fretless to start to stimulate some muscle memory and work on intonation. Never regretted it at all. My cheap fretless was £90 Yamaha RBX270F/L (lined) now upgraded somewhat as I like the light-weight feel and neck of the RBX.
23.
Variable Valve Timing?
If only! Alternatively Volume/Volume/Tone as opposed to Volume/Pup balabce/Tone
24. 30 years of rugby did it for me. I have a dodgy disc in my neck which gives me grief as well as making the middle finger and thumb of my left hand go completely numb without warning which can be exciting.
25. I spent a bit upgrading my "std" RBX170 F/L and am enjoying the improvements. New pups, bridge and VVT now rather than VBT as it came. Definitely cost more that the bass was worth, but no resale planned so I'm not that bothered.
