  1. ...or maybe a 'swing your trousers' folk combo?
  2. Just need to find a doom metal band now.
  3. I might have accident just bought one of these VM2 Darkhawks (the b@stard child of a Nighthawk and a Grand Dark)
  4. Will used to work at Bass Direct I believe.
  5. ACG Standard J Type 4 For sale is this rather lovely (IMHO, YMMV etc.) ACG version of the classic Jazz bass, the pickups are closer to the 70s position. Don't be fooled by the modest wood choice and appearance, this is a cracking Jazz bass that I thought that I'd never sell but as I'm moving to more and more fretless playing to help with some hand/wrist issues it will have to go. The bass started life with the SEQ preamp, but after a couple of years I thought I'd go fully passive with a 4-way coil switch, so now you have the following options on top of the volume and tone knobs: Bridge p/up only; both p/ups in parallel; both p/ups in series (particularly awesome); neck p/up only. The bass weighs in at 3.6kgs (or 8lbs in old money) so very easy to use for long gigs. It’s in great condition and will come with a good quality gig bag. Very competitively priced at £895 please. Spec Strings/Scale: 4 34” Body core: White Limba with light amber/vintage stain Neck woods: 3 piece Ash with carbon rods and asymmetric profile F/B wood: Rosewood Radius: Flat Side dots: White (might be aluminium but can't remember) Bridge: Hipshot Type B black Tuning machines: Gotoh GB720 black Pickups: ACG Over-wound SB single coil Electronics: Passive plus – Vol/Tone/4-position coil switch I would be happy to deliver within a reasonable radius of home alternatively happy to meet somewhere approximately half way if you prefer for a contribution to fuel costs. A courier remains the last resort. I work from home most days so can accommodate most collection options. I would leave it to you to organise your preferred courier. There are some pics to follow below. Please let me know if you’d like to see any other details.
  6. Hi folks here we have a brand new and unopened Bibicz replacement for the infamous Gibson 3-point bridge. Here is the link to their website with lots of details that save me an amount of typing. https://www.fullcontacthardware.com/fch-3-point-four-string-bass-bridge-gibson-style £100 posted UK Mainland. Here's pics for you too.
  7. This for me too. I seem to be settling down to being more comfortable with what I would loosely call the mid-range price bracket basses. For me this is between £400 and £1,000 in rough terms, and these are the ones I most often reach for. I have a couple of pricier ones too but these days they don't get gigged and I use them at home for my own enjoyment.
  8. ACG Finn Classic 4 Medium 32” Scale For sale is this rather lovely (IMHO, YMMV etc.) medium scale ACG. It started life as straight passive P bass but when ACG launched the new Hybrid Humbuckers I fitted one of those with a 4-way coil switch, so now you have the following options on top of the volume and tone knobs: Bridge coil; both parallel; both series (particularly awesome); neck coil. The bass weighs in at 3.4kgs (or 7lbs 6oz in old money) so very easy to use for long gigs. It’s in great condition and will come with a good quality gig bag. Looking for £895 please. Please see the pics below. Note that most were ‘pre mods’ but I’ve added one showing the extra knob. Please let me know if you’d like to see any other details. I would be happy to deliver within a reasonable radius of home alternatively happy to meet somewhere approximately half way if you prefer for a contribution to fuel costs. Spec Strings/Scale: 4 32” Body core: Alder Top/veneer: Figured Maple Neck woods: 3 piece Ash F/B wood: AI Maple Radius: Flat Side dots: Black Bridge: Hipshot Type B black Tuning machines: Hipshot Ultralites plus De-tuner on E String Pickups: ACG BZ1 Hybrid Humbucker Electronics: Passive plus – Vol/Tone/4-position coil switch
  9. Me too, going to the Manchester show.
  10. Following with interest. I was looking at acquiring an Epi EB3 and giving it the full Novak pickups/Gibson style electronics/bridge upgrades. When I added it all up it was a fair old amount of dosh so ended up looking out for a preloved Gibson SG and if it was one without the Babicz bridge (Gibson added these as std in 2015 for a short time) changing that when I found a preloved one. Bass sorted recently bridge on its way to me. This may be on interest to folks thinking about doing some or all of this. https://www.guitar-mod.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=65bac5aa40e44a979170c093070ec132&Screen=PROD&Product_Code=RG_EB3
  11. I've found them to be very good. Some of my basses were sold through Bass Bros and a few more are f/s. More will follow for sure.
  12. That is stunning. I am a big ACG fan and have 'some' of Alan's basses. Apologies for the thread derail.
  13. There's some stuff on the Spector website about this period:
  14. Yes, apologies, I left the 9 out. Will amend forthwith.
  15. The NS-94s were made in Korea to pretty much USA specs as far as I can determine. This was at a time when Stuart Spector had temporarily lost control of his brand name.
  16. I have a TT4 passive with the Black Label pickups and I'm a big fan of that combo. Does things a J bass does very well and mine is 8lbs (3.6kgs) so very comfortable. I have V/B/T rather V/V/T as I prefer 1 volume for gigging. The pickups are quite hot but I've lowered them down a bit and the sound is sweet now.
  17. Nice. I'm a big fan of its predecessor the NS-94. I've owned a couple over the years.
