I have done this with a Sandberg Electra bass. No real issues for me at any rate on that particular instrument.
-
My fav Fendery colour is Midnight Wine, or possibly Dakota Red

Not tried this particular bass, but the Sandberg VS is a similar beast and I like those a lot for much the same reasons as Cici was saying. Only major difference is the Delano/Glcok setup on the Sandberg and that most seem to be really light these days. My VS was less that 8lbs.

The new Rammstein album, whaddya think?
ead replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
I've not listened to Rammstein much I'm afraid to say but like what I've seen on the tellybox and interweb. What's a good entry point? -
Yeah I can empathise with the OP. I had a period of playing a lot of fretted bass in cover bands where the opportunity to play fretless (my first love) was pretty limited. Last year I took the conscious decision to unload a few fretted basses and play more fretless.

Hi folks Does anyone know where I can find some tuner bushings to fit a 13mm headstock hole and a 9mm post please? I've done lots of Googling but to no avail so far. Thanks

Great pic. This one seems pretty light at c.3.5kgs. It's not had an easy life and has clearly been gigged and bits of hardware need replacing e.g. tuner bushings.

Zombie thread resurrection. I have just picked up a bass from our guitarist who asked me to give it some TLC, a clean and a set up. Turns out to be a 1972 Framus 'Jazz' so also keen to know more as not a lot of info out there.

Just completed a trade with Paul for a nice Greco P bass. He is a top bloke to deal with and it was all made very easy and straightforward to arrange. Thanks very much.

Now traded Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass 2014 - with awesome non-original neck

Good album that one. Could add Free and, to an extent, Bad Company to the list too.

I've seen Joan Shaw Taylor live several time. SHe has a great bassist (possibly Italian?). Also Ainsley Lister for the newer approach.

My favourite is a 4" wide well padded item I got from Overwater (probs made elsewhere). I routinely scour the Marketplace for preloved ones as I cannot find them anywhere. I've had it for years and noting comes close.

I enjoy these guys. Leo Lyons (10 Years After on bass):

It can't be easy heading up say EBMM or Fender, maybe even RIC. You have a tried and tested formula that folks hate and love in equal measure, then get loved/slated for introducing new variants. You introduce something a bit more left-field, then get loved/slated for introducing new ideas and not sticking to the trusted formula. Everyone loves/hates your brand ambassadors. Looks like catering is a much safer option. Anybody want chips with that?

I've had a few sets through the D'Addario Players Circle thing. TBH I've always gone back to my preferred EXL170BTs. Not sure I can explain precisely why but I just seem to get on better with them. I live in fear of them being discontinued.

Pete ha very kindly relieved me of the burden of ownership of a pedal board. As has been said many times already he he is top bloke to deal with and made the whole process so very easy. Many thanks.

I know it is fashionable to say this, but I'm putting this bass up for sale with genuine sadness, but I have another bass that does all the things this one does but with an active option too. I have owned the bass for a little while and have enjoyed playing it immensely, the replacement neck (see below) is amazing and I have debated with myself whether to just part out the bass and keep the neck for another bass. The pickup switch and individual volume controls afford great flexibility along with the master tone control of course. A high mass Fender bridge is standard and the bass comes in at 4.1kgs on my scales; pretty decent for a J bass. A Fender gig bag included. I have added a picture of the original serial number as the one on the reverse of the headstock does not reflect the right vintage etc. Price is £495. I would much prefer to hand over / meet up however is you live in a far-flung part of the kingdom then a courier is probably inevitable. I have a box and packaging and will wrap it up well, but you will need to make the arrangements. I work from home mostly so will be able to make sure that I'm around when the courier calls. Trades considered, but most likely to be tempted by a P bass with cash either way depending on the flavour. This is the Mk2 version of the Modern Player Jazz and has rotary selector/volume/volume/tone and an edge socket. The selector has 4 positions per below. You can then blend/vary as you wish: 1. I'm sure that I've seen a vid on the Sandberg bridge on this topic. Probs a few pages back now.

I would check the pot values as I have a feeling that Sandberg don't use the 250k pots we are all used to. I put a Kiogon loom in mine (with non-delano pickups and it sounds great.

I'd keep an eye out for a preloved passive VS and add a pickup of your choice and a Kiogon loom as I think Sandberg use 500k pots but it was a while ago since I owned this bass so my recollection may be shaky on that bit. Pre mods pic:
