  1. I feel that we share a lot of common likes here (honorable exception of prog of which I am unashamedly a fan). Apols to the OP for the thread derailing.
  2. Phew, I feel you may need a hug or some chocolate. Seriously though, what is your preference?
  3. @SteveXFR is there anything at all that you don't find offensive?
  4. p.s. You are welcome to come and have a play on mine as these basses are not an insignificant investment!
  5. TBH I can't say that I have noticed a great difference, but I haven't had the fortune to own more than one Ric at any one time so it's more from memory. I listened to a few demos online of a Laredo vs a Cheyenne before taking the plunge (through good headphones) and the differences were pretty minimal to my ears. In the context of ripping it up in a live band I very much doubt you'd hear much at all.
  6. My "friend" has similar views.
  7. Yeah pretty good; I've never had a problem. For further reassurance I recently bought a bass from a different European retailer with the same deal and the bass arrived here with no further charges.
  8. Personal preference for me is the East J Deluxe, has a passive option and the tone works in both active and passive modes. I've had an Audere or two and, whilst it was a little while back, I don't recall them having those features. Happy to stand corrected on this of course
  9. Paging @prowla, can you help?
  10. I never got on with my 4003, however having acquired a 4004 Cheyenne (as I prefer the unfinished 'board) I find it so much nicer. There is a 4004 Laredo on Reverb at the moment for a reasonable price and they have the lacquered fingerboard.
  11. I feel very unimaginative now. All my basses are called Bob
  12. BassBros is also setting up a shop (Coventry I think). Either way no great distance from Bass DIrect.
  13. Much prefer a satin finish myself
  14. I agree, not a fan of EMG knobs but plenty of nicer options are available
  15. Lovely, don't think I've seen a fretless JB2 before.
  16. Looking at a spec sheet I guess this is what you need: Pickups & Hardware: Tone Circuit: Spector TonePump™ Circuit Type: 9-Volt Active - Bass and Treble (TonePump™ SPECS) Bridge Pickup: EMG 35CS-TW™ Neck Pickups: EMG 35CS-TW™ Pickup Type: Active - Single/dual coil switchable pickups Hardware Colour: Black I'm guessing that this will be the TonePump with the trim pot (very useful).
  17. I used to own this one. Lovely bass with plenty of tonal options with all the coil switching options.
  18. Just acquired a lovely bass from Andy. Nice to catch up a bit after what must have been a number of years now. As always a cracking item, excellent comms and a real pleasure to deal with. Thanks again.
  19. Not just me then, that's a relief. Maybe the question should be re-phrased to something like.... ...."Apart from @chris_b, has anyone not bought a bass on a whim.....etc. etc."
  20. Both my ACGs now at BassBros.
  21. And a 4 digit Pantone reference at that.
  22. Hi folks Brand new pickguard (but have taken off the film). Fits a Sadowsky Metroline MV4 4 string J Bass. £20 inc. postage to UK mainland.
  23. What about something like this (no association), should be pretty punchy without the compromises you sometimes need to make with something like a Quarter Pounder (YMMV, IMHO etc.).
  24. Wow, never saw that coming
  25. I enjoyed Quo's count in to Rocking All Over The World at Live Aid: 4 and off they went.
