  1. Here we go peeps, all put back together. Pleased with the results and the bass plays nicely.
  2. Well, a bit of a story. I managed to track down Mr N as the owner of some pickups from a vintage bass that I was looking to restore to original condition. Dave very kindly went on a hunt for them, was happy to donate them and would not accept any payment and included some bits and pieces foams etc. to help. What an amazing guy and a real credit to this wonderful place. Thank you so much.
  3. Personally I can't wait.
  4. Of course. Should be finished with the work in a few days and will post some pics then.
  5. Thanks, very pleased with them tbh. Also thanks to this brilliant community for the ideas and suggestions.
  6. Project update. Some bushings arrived this morning and they slot in nicely. I'll wind a bit of tape around them to make the fit a bit tighter but otherwise, and in the absence of the real thing, seem to be a good compromise.
  7. Haha, thanks will invest in a pair of those right away. Takes the fun out of it though, although I can now annoy Mrs ead by randomly measuring stuff around the house. Every cloud....
  8. Thinking about it though, the current bushing is a very loose fit into the headstock and the tuner post also has plenty of play too so might give it a go. Worst case I could try a couple of standard offerings for a few squids first.
  9. Sadly not Matt. I have my Dad's old micrometer screw gauge but it would need calibration and I don't know how to do that.
  10. Or possibly these: https://www.mooreinternational.co.uk/Products/flanged-bushes/QOIAMF101310
  11. Just found these little beasties that might do the trick: https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/p142858/FMB1009D-Flanged-Wrapped-Steel-Plain-Backed-Bush-10x12x9mm/product_info.html
  12. Thanks for all of this, most helpful and I will investigate further. I would indeed like to keep the tuners and work out something for the bushings if I can't find anything.
  13. Here are some pics of the various bits as requested.
  14. I'll get a couple of pics sorted out (good point). Just wondering whether it might be worth a try with the Eko items. Ideally I'd like to avoid woodwork and keep as much of the original bits as possible.
  15. I have one original bushing currently still in place and three holes with tuners rattling around (how I got the bass), plus the stress on the tuners has caused some of the screw holes to be enlarged but I can fix that. In a worst case scenario I was thinking about going down to the local hardware store and seeing if there is any copper piping that is approximately the right size.
  16. Thanks for getting in touch. There are the push in type which sounds like the ones you may not be able help with
  17. Yes you'll need different pots for sure (and depending on the quality of the item fitted a new jack socket is often in order. You could do a lot worse than PM our very own Kiogon who makes very good quality passivel looms.
  18. I have done this with a Sandberg Electra bass. No real issues for me at any rate on that particular instrument.
  19. My fav Fendery colour is Midnight Wine, or possibly Dakota Red
  20. Not tried this particular bass, but the Sandberg VS is a similar beast and I like those a lot for much the same reasons as Cici was saying. Only major difference is the Delano/Glcok setup on the Sandberg and that most seem to be really light these days. My VS was less that 8lbs.
  21. I've not listened to Rammstein much I'm afraid to say but like what I've seen on the tellybox and interweb. What's a good entry point?
  22. Yeah I can empathise with the OP. I had a period of playing a lot of fretted bass in cover bands where the opportunity to play fretless (my first love) was pretty limited. Last year I took the conscious decision to unload a few fretted basses and play more fretless.
  23. Hi folks Does anyone know where I can find some tuner bushings to fit a 13mm headstock hole and a 9mm post please? I've done lots of Googling but to no avail so far. Thanks
  24. Great pic. This one seems pretty light at c.3.5kgs. It's not had an easy life and has clearly been gigged and bits of hardware need replacing e.g. tuner bushings.
