No, they are the Sadowsky variant. The std fit Sandberg knobs, partiularly the black ones, are not my favourite things as you cannot see at a quick glance what the settings are so I routinely swap them out.
I had a VM with the P bass pickup in the Fender configuration, probably made it a bit easier to get the sound. I used to put the bass into passive and blend fully to the P pickup and mess with the tone (treble pot in passive mode).
Fair point. Maybe they need a re-issue range for this as the Cali IIs that you see a fair few with relic finish are much more recent.
Not against it by any means as it's a really individual thing and taste in all things should never be by diktat (unless you're on the Rickenbacker forum of course).
My new Sandberg must be due soonish, can't wait tbh. I think things go in waves on the For Sale section not sure if there is too much science behind it. I sell stuff so I can buy other stuff.
Sandberg relics are a bit of a curiosity for me. For some reason I'm cool with things like the Limelight relics of old Fenders but less so with relics of other brands that only sprang into life in the 80s/90s etc. Maybe I'm just very shallow.
Just acquired a lovely bass from Kevin. Everything went very smoothly; very quick responses to questions and the courier even delivered it a day early. Thanks very much for a stress free transaction.
Weird isn't it. I never really got on with the US basses I've onwed (one exception is my '66P that is lovely). Currently bonding most with a 57RI MIJ P bass.
It's not too dissimilar given the pickup placements. I say overall a bit 'warmer', somrthing I'd probably attribute to the pickups being hum cancelling rather than true single coil. Still plenty of snap though.
For the style of music I play I tend to favour the neck pickup by turning down the bridge volume by c.20% and rolling of the tone by a similar amount. Soloed, the neck pickup does a great P bass sound too.
Hope that helps
Just acquired a cab from Tim and what an absolute star he is to deal with. Brilliant cab, beautifully packed, hyper quick despatch and delivery.
Thanks very much for the smoothest of smooth transactions.
Not sure what you are measuring here?
I like these trings and have them on my fretless basses. My only gripe is the A string is floppier than the other three and could be a bit heavier to get a really good balance of string tension across the set.
Folks, I have a question/dilemma.
As an old git I like physical music meaning CDs (more than LPs nowadays). In order to get the most money to the bands that make them, where is the best place to spend my hard-earned in order to do so?
