Kate has just relieved me of the burden of ownership of one of my ACGs. Such a lovely person to deal with and a credit to the BC community.

It definitely looks different in the flesh. As to whether you will like it I cannot say

Just sold a pedal to Simon who is a top bloke to deal with as has already been said multiple times on here. Thanks for you purchase.

SOLD ELSEWHERE As part of my forced gear sell off here is a good quality pedal board and pedals etc. Happy to sell as a job lot or split up. All these come with their boxes and paperwork with the honourable exception of the Stage Bug (came in a blister pack). Down to the last pedal now, the excellent Tech21 YYZ overdrive unit by Sansamp. The pedal works fine and is in good condition, the tin has a couple of dings in it. Plenty of stuff on the interweb about these pedals.

The nut width is 42mm. As with most ACGs the neck profile is asymmetric meaning that the 'thickest' part of the neck sits more towards the E & A string side rather than down the centre. These are mega comfortable as it allows the thumb to sit nicely in the right place. I'd say that on average this neck is possible a bit chunkier that your average ACG 4-string.

Thread resurrection time. I'm thinking of selling a bunch of pedals that I currently have on my board but that get little play time and was thinking of getting something like this to use on the odd occasion where an effect is required. Therefore my question is: Do those folks that talked positively about the X5 in the past still own and use their pedal, and if not why not?

He does YouTube clips Should I be afraid?

Yes indeed, already on order. I've gone for a straight VVT set up with 250k pots and a 33nF cap for a little more top end. Emergency 47nF cap included in case I feel it's too much.

I was trying to remember their name (The New Mastersounds), thanks for posting!

Having just upgraded the pickup (Fender Custom Shop '59) and the wiring loom on my JBP I have notice a really nice improvement in tone taking it from a really good bass to a great bass so am now minded to do something with the JJB too. I was just scouting evilbay and stumbled across a set of the Tom Brantley pickups (he does Geddy Lee's pickups). Too much of a coincidence so I have just acquired them. I'll now look for a suitable loom. Reporting back will of course be in order once everything arrives and is installed and tested.

Incredibly rude not to, I agree. Interestingly I swapped the harness out first and ran it with the original fit pickup and there was a noticeable improvement. The pickup swap just doubled down on that benefit. It has got me thinking about doing something with electronics on the JJB-300 I have.
-
Just to update the group, I decided to upgrade the harness with some CTS pots etc. and added a Fender Custom Shop '59 p/up. Now sounds approx. 44.7% more awesome; apologies I can't be any more accurate than that.

Now sold elsewhere. And now the one that I am really dreading to have to sell. In fact if nobody wants it I'll have zero disappointment. This was my first every bass from Alan and was acquired in 2012. It's a stunning bass, the full specs are here: https://acguitars.co.uk/project/0120-custom-j-type-fretless-4/ The bass weighs a shade over 4kgs and comes with one of the amazing Fusion gigbags. Collection or meet up preferred. I might consider postage but not 100% certain yet.

SOLD ELSEWHERE Another painful to me sale as this bass and I have played quite a few gigs together. I commissioned this from Alan in around 2015/16 and aside from a couple of years 'on extended loan' to another BCer I have been the only keeper of this lovely instrument. Very sad that general arthritis is taking its toll. Anyway, one of only P Types in the known universe, this is a lovely and very flexible beastie. Specs are here: https://acguitars.co.uk/project/0252-p-type-4/ Very portable too at only 3.6kgs (just under 8lbs). The East/ACG P Retro is massively flexible with active/passive switch and a tone control that works when the EQ is engaged. The bass comes with a decent gig bag. As always collection/meet up preferred, postage could be an option. Happy to answer any questions and thanks for stopping by.

F/S Modified Westone Thunder 1A - £325 or near offers - *SOLD*

Hi folks. Here we have a modified (by one of our own) Westone Thunder 1A that I bought recently in the hope that the physically smaller size might help me a bit with continuing to play. But alas not. The mods are: The original light oak finish has been stripped back and the body lightly stained with a black oil finish The headstock has been reshaped (hint of Fodera maybe?) New tuners fitted (originals have been lost in the mists of time) Pickup and electronics are all original (and work fine) New knobs (again the originals are AWOL) Bridge cover and thumb rest added The bass weighs bang on 4kgs on my digital scales and will come with a decent gig bag. Collection/meet up much preferred but I can post. Plenty of pics attached including the original s/n. Any questions please ask; thanks for stopping by.- 12 replies

Sadly the issues with my hands are getting no better and I have come to the sad conclusion that I some of my basses cause me more discomfort than others and are getting little or no attention at the moment. Selling this one is particularly egregious to me as it's a beautiful instrument (to me at any rate) with a high degree of flexibility in terms of the pickups/EQ options. But it needs to be cherished and more importantly played. The bass weighs 4kgs exactly. The bass is like new and I can't find a mark on it. It will come with a mega TGI Ultimate Protection hard soft-case. The specs are on the ACG website here: https://acguitars.co.uk/project/0500slg4-32/ Happy to answer any questions or provide more pics as required. You are welcome to come and try the bass out too of course. As always collection or meet up is preferred, but given the nature of the case postage is an option too. Here are some pics and thanks for stopping by:
