  1. Always good to listen to stuff outside your normal play list but not compulsory to like anything no matter how highly regarded the musicians may be. I listen to all kinds of 'unfashionable' music from 70s pop to math metal. One genre I really struggle with is Jazz though. Try as I might it just doesn't float my boat although I nearly liked some acid jazz once. I happen to really like Yes but then I rather grew up with them, the very first LP I saved up for and bought was Close To The Edge. Goodness knows how many Yes gigs I've benn to.
  2. Yup always a risk. I anotate the set list in big writing
  3. I used to have an obsession about swapping any BBOT to something more substantial. I then realised that my basses work for a lving (at least they used to) so in the context of a band I could never hear a difference so I stopped doing it.
  4. The covers band I play uses a few different tunings so for rehearsing and gigging I use one of these for one or two semitones down. Dead easy and you can keep everything at std set up and tuning: https://www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-dept/guitar-pedals/pitch-shifter-pedals/digitech-drop-pedal Purists will of course hate it, and tbf I would never record with it, but it's fine for messing around with. Everything from Greenday to slower stuff.
  5. Midnight Wine for me. No pics as the Fender ones all have Rosewood boards, sorry.
  6. Good point. Will the active EMGs be OK with the two fitted volume pots or should I swap them for the two 25k pots that came with the pickups. Sorry, not an area of much personal expertise
  7. Cheers. In that case I could look at the retaining the two volume controls and just add the BQC control.
  8. Do you know if the centres for the pots on the Haz would slot into a Legend by any chance? Several £s too, suddenly the EMG option seems very appealing! Given the EMG PJ active set comes with the std V/V/T wiring kit and I quite like the idea of retaining a tone control, I was thinking about sticking a BTC stack in there in a V/V/BTC/T type configuration. Do you know if this works? I have emailed EMG in the USA but slow to respond atm.
  9. Just picked this up in a trade. Identical to my first proper bass in all but serial number, this one being a tad newer I think. I also picked up a set of active EMGs that might well find their way into the bass when I decide what preamp to go for...
  10. Probably try a few new things out to see what floats your boat. Personally, when not playing a Fender, I do like my Spectors. (P/J x 2 and P x 1)
  11. Hopefully very soon. Forecast was the end of the month so fingers crossed. I'll sort out some recordings but please bear in mind my paying is a best absolutely average
  12. 13. By a country mile my ACG bitsa jazz type bass. Was originally active but now vol/tone/4-way pickup switch. Cost less than £1k and is the dog's danglies.
  14. How did they get away with the body shape without being assaulted by His High Rickenbackeriness?
  15. Is this a real thing? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/cort-bass-guitar/114412367360?hash=item1aa3822e00%3Ag%3AWWQAAOSwudpfPpbD&LH_ItemCondition=3000
  16. Lovely looking bass. Glad you have hopefully found The One.
  17. Not floating my boat tbh, sorry.
  18. Whoa, respect. I shy away from vigorous tapping of either foot on health and safety grounds. I will occasionally rythmically raise and lower my big toe during particularly up-tempo passages but only with supervision and having had the appropriate training.
  19. You're going to get loads of different views. I've experimented a little and my preference so far have been the Wizard '84s. Not sure you can still get these so that was massively unhelpful, sorry about that. Also a fan of EMGs but I've only had the active variety.

Just sold a bass to Dave. What a gent, he travelled down crossing international borders to collect the bass. Had the chance for a quick chat which was great as I always enjoy meeting BCers. Trade in full confidence folks. Dave is one of the good guys and the reason this place is what it is.
