  1. I have a selection of ACGs, a couple of Spectors, a Sandberg, a vintage Fender P and an Anaconda. My favourite of the Yamahas was actually the RBX270FL that I owned and gigged regularly for over 6 years. It was my first fretless bass. 5ers just arn't my thing and didn't really gell will the P34 sadly as it's a lovely bass.
  2. Currently none but have owned: RBX270FL BBN5 (2 of these at different times) BBP34
  3. Can't bring myself to sell it. Withdrawn.
  4. I've a few ACGs including two fretless basses but all 4-string as I have a severe talent deficit at the best of times and, having tried a few times, 5ers are a no-go area for me now.
  5. True enough, but there are a lot of grumpy people in the world and it makes little sense to add to their number. Sold the bass again a week or so later so no real drama.
  6. For sale is this Radial Stage Bug, passive DI for bass (and keyboards). Built like a tank and in very good condition I confess to being in two minds about selling this. Here is the link to the manufacturer's website: https://www.radialeng.com/product/stagebug-sb2 £50 posted to UK mainland please
  7. This is an excellent little overdrive pedal and is only for sale as I'm upgrading to a full fat preamp with overdrive etc. built-in. I have used it for a very subtle, warm overdrive but it really is pretty versatile and pleanty of stuff on t'interweb for your perusal. This one comes boxed with instructions and is in excellent condition as I hope you can see from the pics. £56 posted UK mainland please.
  8. For sale is my Microthumpinator. I think you folks know what these do and how good they are. This one has some velcro on the bottom and has sat on my pedal board doing its thing for a a few of years but is in very good nick and fully functional. £75 inc. P&P to UK mainland please

    Ghost Rider

Just acquired a pedal from Anth. Really impressive to deal with, excellent comms and even recorded a little demo of the pedal for me ahead of despatch. Deal in full confidence peeps, genuine Top Banana here
  10. I once sold a bass (high end for the brand) to a buyer - no names, no pack drill. As I am wont to do, I met up with the buyer to hand the bass over to give the buyer the opportunity to view the bass to ensure there were no issues. The buyer was able to examine the bass in good light in a car park and declared themselves happy. This was a used bass btw and had been gigged. I described it in excellent condition for its age which I felt was entirely reasonable (please check my feedback you non-believers ). A few days later I received a message saying that the buyer was unhappy as there were imperfections in the finish, which there were, and was why I did not describe the condition of the bass as 'mint' or 'like new'. Clearly nothing I could say would change the buyers perspective so I just bought the bass back. People's standards are different I guess so we just have to be mindful about that.
  11. If you like it then play it and gig it. If you don't sell it. Simples. My '66P gets regular outings. Let me rephrase that: My '66 used to get regular outings and will again.
  12. Very nice. Worth checking with Jack's Instrument Services too as he will make you a good replacement if the Sandberg option is not available / quite costly.

    Neck Shapes

Hear, hear @stewblack I don't mind what they feel like but I have quite large hands so that possibly makes it a bit easier. My personal favs are the asymmetric ACG necks made by @skelf that are just delightful closely followed by the Sandberg necks that are also a joy to stagger around on.
  14. We had a lot of luck on Venus We always had a ball on Mars Meeting all the groovey people We've rocked the Milky Way so far Deep Purple failing to grasp the essential distance between galaxies and planets for that matter and the absence to this day of faster than light travel. Not to mention the hostile atmosphere on Venus and the complete absence of on on Mars.
  15. Lockdown has worked well for me in this respect. I walk for an hour or so every day and always with iPod/headphone amp/headphones. I'm working my way through my record collection and am somewhere around 'C', currently on two Collage CDs (for those that like that kind of thing).
  16. I've only ever owned the 1st gen Electras so can't comment. The v1 VS4 above is light at 3.7kgs or a little over 8lbs in old money. The tuners are per the pic below so it looks like a D tuner direct replacement is more likely than for the newer 3-point items. Either probably represent excellent value when compared to equivalent F branded items. Build quality on mine is excellent, particularly the fret work and the neck is great too.
  17. I think @cetera was looking for one of these.
  18. Pickup is great. Not quite as in your face as a 'Quarter Pounder' but meaty with good lows and mids. As to the other thing, I'm a long-term Sadowsky knob fan. Can I say that?
  19. Interesting point. I learned violin at school and went pretty much right through the grades (stopped after VII when I discovered rugby and lady peeps). What I find most odd is that reading the treble clef is second nature my brain really struggles to read the bass clef. I have no idea why but it's very annoying.
  20. Access to higher frets? Burn him for he is a witch/wizzard/non-gender specific magic person.
  21. ...but don't mention this to Jeff Berlin...
  22. Apologies, I didn't post a pic of the Electra post modding as I was waiting for some knobs to be delivered. They were, and here it is.
  23. The Sandberg California II is smaller than a regular Fender J as well.
