Isn't this one of those solutions to a problem that nobody really has?
-
I've met a lot of generous and knowledgable folks on here, some in person, some online, for which i am most grateful.

My HW One is pretty much as Fender made it with the honourable exception of the pickguard which is cheap replacement item sprayed matt black for added stealth (apart from band sticker). I recorded some samples of it to compare with my '66 P and it did very nicely so Greasebucket is fine too.

I couldn't watch this for more than about 5 minutes due to the unbelievably high levels of smugness and self-righteousness on display. Yes they cocked up but sounds like they will remedy in full.

I owned a Bacchus P bass for a while. Great bass, dimensionally slightly smaller that a Fender and much lighter. Very well made indeed and is one of the MIJ Woodline Series. (this was

sponsored Markbass Strings launch offer for Basschat members

My Vintage strings arrived yesterday. Will get them on a bass asap. -
We are not big time enough to play anything other than pubs, occasionally a club or a private function for mates of the band. To date no real hassles above the set up and take down when it's very busy. Mostly it's been a good laugh.

OK here goes, samples below. I spec'ed the bass with Alan at ACG to be essentially a passive 32" scale precision with the pickup in the P bass sweat spot. The bass has an Alder body with a flame maple top, a 3-piece Ash neck and a Maple board so possible a tad brighter than your average precision. Here's the link to the spec.: https://www.acguitars.co.uk/project/0339finn4/ I recorded the same riff in each of the four switch settings with both volume and tone controls fully 'on' to make it as straight a comparison as possible. The strings are a new set of D'Addario EXL170BT nickel round wounds, that seem to find their way onto all my fretted basses. It's actually a 4-position coil switch for the new pickup. This is one of the brand spanking new ACG BZ1 Hybrid Humbuckers. It's a great little device that is, to quote from @skelf recent post in the ACG thread, " ...a hybrid humbucker in that it uses two different magnets for the coils. This allows for an Alnico single coil and a ceramic single coil in the same case. Combined with a rotary switch or 3 way mini toggle you have access to the separate coils and the coils combined. Think vintage single coil and modern single coil then both combined as a humbucker." I rashly promised to record some sound samples but I should issue a public health warning that these will not be to same high standard as the excellent Colin Cunningham ACG demos. I'm going to blame COVID-19 but I have a feeling that a marginal difference in talent might be responsible. I'll post them as soon as possible.

Funnily enough I was going to drop you a note too. Speak soon bud.

I tried to install a talent switch but failed that as well Sorry not that.

While you were all looking the other way I made a sneaky mod to my ACG Finn. Any ideas what might have been done folks? Before: After:

Due to my general incompetence with mouse and keyboard I managed to order the wrong strings The team at MSL have been absolutely brilliant in sorting it out for me so thanks very much. -
I think it was called something like tobacco burst. No red in it at all.
-
There are some passive VS4s around too. This one used to be mine some years ago.

Great offer, many thanks. Have order a couple of sets of your VIntage range for my two fretless basses. Although might stick one set on a P bass -
Help with trying to jamm online with my band please

Thanks for the info folks. Looks like Plan A may have been right after all -
Hi folks As a technical muppet (please assume spectacular levels of ignorance and incompetance) I would like to try to arrange some sessions with the band to try out new ideas etc. So far I have tried Jammr and Jamshazam but I have no idea what I'm doing and not sure if I've set anything up correctly plus can't hear my bass when I plug headphones into my laptop. I have a Windows laptop and what I can get to work is Audacity with my bass plugged into an Ashdown Tone pocket itself connected to my laptop via the USB cable provided. My headphones are connected to the Tone Pocket socket. At least I can record a bass part this way and send it to the band (guitarist/vocalist and drummer). I can get a guitar part back and hear both together on Audacity but not quite figured out how to sinc the two up yet Any help gratefully received!

In which case excellent job, it looks really good like that.

For folks with short attention spans, what is it that you have fixed?
