  1. Thanks. Got a response on TB from the Mr A Horse so in hand.
  2. Hi folks Having just acquired a new head in a trade I thought that I might put the GB up for sale as it is my current backup and my current main amp will do just fine as a backup from now on. I thought I should give it a good look over and test before doing so only to find that it makes a buzzing sound now and that the output volume doesn't have the impact it once did! Is this symptomatic of a valve needing replacement and if so is that expensive and any recommendations where to find them please. Is it worth repairing I suppose is another question which I guess depends upon the cost. The blue LEDs are no longer working but that is less of an issue overall. Many thanks
  3. Stuart Goddard played bass in Bazooka Joe before becoming Adam Ant.
  4. Now sold. Thank you for all the interest.
  5. Sorry no trades on this one thanks.
  6. Hi thanks for the interest. Pickup and BA II both std. The gig bag was not the one the bass came with but I acquired a decent quality Fender item to house it.
  7. Now sold, thanks for all the interest. Fender Highway One Precision Bass 2009 This series is the mid life upgrade of the Highway 1 series that include a nitro finish, BadAss II, 70s logo etc. The bass is in good condition with hardly any fret wear and the nitro finish has started to wear in and shine up a little on the back and the slanty bit where your forearm typically rubs. There are a few small dings and a bit of buckle rash as I’ve tried to capture in the pictures. Nice and light at 8lbs 5oz. The bass comes with a deluxe Fender padded gigbag and an additional matt black pickguard (currently fitted). Plenty of love for these on t’interweb. Highway One Precision Bass Features: Body: Alder with The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish Neck: Maple, Modern "C" Shape, (satin Polyurethane finish) Fingerboard: Rosewood, 9.5" Radius (241mm) No. of Frets: 20 Medium Jumbo Frets with white dot position markers Pickups: 1 Standard Vintage Alnico Split Single-Coil Precision Bass Pickup (Mid) Controls: Volume, Greasebucket™ Tone Circuit (Rolls Off Highs without Adding Bass). Bridge: Leo Quan Badass® II Bridge with 4 Pre-Grooved Saddles Machine Heads: Standard Hardware: Chrome Pickguard: 3-Ply Parchment Scale Length: 34" (864 mm) Width at Nut: 1.625" (41.3 mm) 70s headstock logo Now that we are allowed to move about to a degree I’d much prefer to meet up somewhere in person to exchange the bass with suitable social distancing. A courier would be a last resort and would be for you to organise. I will be very flexible with your collection arrangements as I am working from home all the while. Here are some pics of the bass. It is currently sporting the replacement matt black p/guard and I'll remove the sticker ahead of the sale if you want the black as well as the original pickguard. I've done my best to capture the roadworn elements but if you'd like more detail please just ask.
  8. I've backed off the trim pot to around 50% possibly a bit less, I can't recall exactly as I've not looked at it since I set it up. I did the same to my '77 Euro LE.
  9. Here are some samples @ClassicVibes Recorded direct into an Ashdown Tone Pocket (set flat), then via USB into Audacity. No trickery on settings (that I am aware of at any rate). Gratuitous bass pic: P pup solo, EQ set as near to flat as I can get it by ear LE4 P only flat.wav J pup solo, EQ set as near to flat as I can get it by ear LE4 J only flat.wav Both pups at my preferred settings of c.30-35% bass, c.20-25% treble LE4 both AD B33 T25.wav Bass max, treble flat LE4 both max bass.wav Treble max, bass flat LE4 both max treble.wav Both pups on, EQ set as near to flat as I can get it by ear LE4 both flat.wav Treble at max is very 'squeaky' which is probably my less than perfect technique generating unwanted string noise. Sorry about that, several takes needed to get a least worst version
  10. For sale is my Barefaced Big Baby T. Bought last year from a fellow BCer in the expectation of replacing my Super Compact that I use 99% of the time as a monitor and supplementing it for the odd gig we do without a PA for the bass. The Super Compact is also up for sale and I will keep whichever proves to be the less popular... By way of a comparison this is the same size as the orignal Compactand is is excellent overall condition, no major dings or dents that I can see. The cab has been gigged but you would be hard pressed to know that, great sounding full-range cab. Now withdrawn as my other Barefaced cab has been sold.
  11. Great job. That's the rest of my day sorted
  12. I have just stumbled across these folk. Enjoying both their CDs atm.
  13. Just had a very pleasant coffee and catchup with the ever wonderful Tom. Oh, and dropped a bass off for him at the same time. Great to see you again and thanks for making it such an easy transaction. Stay safe!
  14. I'm assuming Talk Bass. My man tells me that it's some foreign, collonial offshoot.
  15. Now superceded in my affections . In my defence I'm very shallow.
  16. Not nitro finish sadly, std poly. I believe.
  17. And the Traveller version with the wooden bits.
  18. I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you afterwards May well keep it though as it is the nicest Fender J I've owned.
  19. Now sold. Thanks for all the interest.
  20. I was thinking the same thing, but I've only managed to find 3 in the UK so far which is a bit irritating.
  21. OK I will do my best. I will of course photograph my setting carefully as it took me a bit of experimentation to get to what I like. Note that I have also wound down the gain to around 50% on the unit.
  22. OK I'll sort something out. Can you give me an idea of what you want to hear please in terms of pickup options and Tone Pump settings so I can try to meet your requirements
  23. Sterling by Music Man SB14 bass with branded high quality gig bag – Very good condition For sale is my Sterling By Music Man SB14 bass. The serial number dates the bass to 2010. I have owned the bass since new and it is in excellent overall condition with barely a mark on it. One point to mention: The bass came with a white pearl pickguard to which I took an instant dislike and sprayed to a matt black finish. The nut width on these instruments is pretty slim and quite jazz-like although the depth of the neck is more P bass than J bass. It is however beautifully finished with a lovely silky smooth satin lacquer. Sterling by Music Man SB14 Bass Features: · Body: Basswood · Neck: Maple · Fingerboard: Maple · Pickups: Music Man Humbucking with ceramic magnets and a hum-cancelling phantom coil · Preamp: 3-band Active Preamp: Volume, Treble, Mid, Bass · Bridge: Music Man designed · Tuners: Open Gear The maple fingerboard has been beautifully finished and the fret work is excellent too. The frets themselves have barely any visible wear. This particular bass weighs in at bang on 9lbs by my scales so quite light for the breed. The 3-band EQ plus pickup coil switching allow three options: Parallel for the classic Stingray sound; single coil with phantom coil (for hum cancelling); and series options. The bass comes with an SBMM gig bag; probably the best gig bag I've come across with nice soft and thick padding. Now that we are allowed to move about to a degree I’d much prefer to meet up somewhere in person to exchange the bass with suitable social distancing. A courier would be a last resort and would be for you to organise. I will be very flexible with your collection arrangements as I am working from home all the while. These SBMM basses get a lot of love on t'interweb. Here is a pic to whet the appetite. I will take some more in the next day or so.
  24. Now sold elsewhere, thanks for all the interest. Fender ‘65RI Jazz Bass 2007 MIJ Here is my pretty rare Fender Japan JB65B-85US. I believe that these were non-export models and were built to US spec with Alder bodies and US pickup. The bass is in very good condition. There are no bumps and bruises, no buckle rash and the back of the neck is flawless. Produced in 2007, and as mentioned above, the bass has an Alder body, aged Olympic White finish with a matching headstock, dots and bound neck with a Rosewood fingerboard and USA Vintage pickups. The colour is more cream than white, I have included a picture with some white printer paper over the body for comparison purposes. In a couple of places around the cutaways the finish has turned to a light caramel colour. This appears to be related to the paint and the finish is unbroken. I have tried to photograph this for you to judge. The bass weighs around 4.2kgs (or just over 9lbs in old money) and comes with a nice gig bag. IMO the Japanese reputation for the care and attention to detail they bring to marrying pieces of wood together is well deserved. It’s hard to price they don’t appear for sale that often but I’d like £750 collected. I not in any hurry to part with it and it’ll be no hardship to keep. Now that we are allowed to move about to a degree I’d much prefer to meet up somewhere in person to exchange the bass with suitable social distancing. A courier would be a last resort and would be for you to organise. I will be very flexible with your collection arrangements as I am working from home all the while. Here are some pics, please note that the neck is not as amber as it seems in some of the images. The best representation of the colour is the image of the reverse of the headstock. If you'd like to see any detail please just ask.
