  1. As I understand it from Alan at ACG, the finish is gloss to start with and then is carefully rubbed down to the desired satin/matt finish. Maybe it's different for higher production volume basses...
  2. Definitely quite nice!
  3. Here's a good one. Plenty of player commentary too:
  4. Indeed. My ACG P bass has something that looks very like a fat humbucker but is in fact a split coil p/up.
  5. I've always really liked the early 90s Japanese-made Squier basses up to the end of the Silver Series range. Cracking instruments for c.£300ish.
  6. Hi folks Have any of you good people dabbled with the LHZ-03 HazLabs Preamp Clone as a replacement for the Tone Pump Jnr? I'm contemplating updating my Pulse II with such a thing, but would like the opinion of the BC collective before jumping. They are selling them at Bass DIrect: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/lhz-03-hazlabs-preamp-clone/
  7. Hi folks For sale is this Line6 wireless system. Dead easy to set up, in good condition and and all working fine. I tend to use it for sound checking mostly and revert to fall cable for the gig (just in case). Battery life for the transmitter is about 50mins for me. I don't have the original box/paperwork I'm afraid. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking
  8. Although didn't he say that he made his finest Post-It notes later on in his career?
  9. Do you not mean the Pete Wentz SBMM passive Stingray?
  10. I'm only now beginning to realise what a lucky escape I have just had.
  11. No sorry, but give me a few minutes...
  12. I'm really not sure. The have black silks, but only at the tuner end. All the ball-ends are gold coloured.
  13. Great idea @ped, I will adopt forthwith.
  14. Pssst, want to buy some post-it notes. VGC, one careful owner...
  15. Yeah, I have done the string cleaning thing already. They are in pretty decent condition so highly tempted to leave them on the bass.
  16. I have just acquired a lovely P bass from a member on here with, let's say, some well used 11-year old flats. No need for string muting now. Just for a bit of fun what's my next action....
  17. Just acquired an excellent P bass from Liam. A real pleasure to deal with and a genuine BC top banana. Also a superb bassist btw.
  18. Probably my ACG fretless bass. Not for every situation, but it's such a great bass.
  19. These are really good basses and much overlooked.
  20. Are the Sandberg casings not the same as Delano?
  21. My first bass was a Squier Affinity P bass, and I think I have pretty much always had one knocking about (especially for recording). As I glance to my left, there on my "grab-it-for-a-quick-noodle" stand is my black MIM P bass.
  22. Well I've not ordered anything yet. As you say all seems good electronically and I'm going to give the bass several more practices and maybe a gig or two before I decide.
  23. Nice! Looks like the burst has been done nicely with some sensitivity.
  24. Just a heads-up for any owners thinking about mods, I measured up the pickguard last night and it appears that this is not a std J bass item, so looks like I'll need to get one cut specially.
  25. There's a BC member @KiOgon who does very high quality looms for a very decent price. One thing I have not checked yet is the hole diameters in the bell plate to make sure I get the right pots rather than having to do filing. p.s. I think that we need to see a pic now
