  1. Absolutely, this was just my personal experience.
  2. I saved up for a year to buy Jetglo 4003 as they were/are iconic and a few of my fav bassist used them. Sadly the ergonomics did for me. I tried for about a year then gave up and sold it on (for a modest profit). My view would be if you like it, are happy with the ergonomics go for it. But buy a good preloved one and you will not loose money if the relationship doesn;t last.
  3. Sold elsewhere (for more than advertised on here) For sale is this lovely Fender US Precision Bass in Butterscotch Blonde with a transparent finish so you can see the grain of the wood and a nice rosewood fingerboard. I acquired the bass recently from ash of this very province and much as I have enjoyed playing it, a bass that I am keen to own has emerged from the shadows requiring me to dispose of a couple of instruments, this being one of them. Built in the Corona factory. this is a 60th anniversary US model. It has a single ply black pick guard like the limited edition model but note this is not the Limited Edition model (with the little diamond in the headstock) as all Fender basses built in this year had the badge on the reverse of the headstock. An alternative tort p/g will be included in the sale too. The bass is as built with the S1 switch and original pickups and hardware. It is light at around 4kgs and sounds and plays beautifully. The bass has just been strung with a new set of nickel round strings. The truss rod turns and the frets are in very good shape. The bass comes with a rather nice Fender gigbag. It’s in excellent condition with only a couple of minor dings at the tail end of the body from use over the past few years, none of which are down to the wood (please see the pics). The neck is in lovely condition as is the Rosewood board that has been cleaned and oiled. If you have any questions at all, or require additional pictures of any details please ask away and I give as comprehensive an answer as I am able. I would prefer to arrange some kind of delivery/collection/meet up if at all possible. I'm pretty flexible and willing to travel a bit if necessary. Courier would be the last resort and will be at cost to you.
  4. My main problem with longer B & E strings (almost certainly due to my poor technique) was that the string excursion for the longer scales meant that I could get the action as low as I like with setting off some fret buzzing somewhere. I like balanced string tension and appreciate the fact that for the longer scales you can use a lighter gauge for the same balance but short of playing with an overall heavier gauge that made the string too taut for my personal liking I just couldn't get comfortable. Pity really as the concept is a good one I think.
  5. @skelf made me this one; ticks all five of your specification
  6. Beautiful I now need to find an aged white bass with maple board and dark brown tort p/g to achieve the same effect.
  7. I have gravitated towards Dunlop Dual Design straplocks as they ended up being on the majority of my basses. I might even have a spare chrome set of the knocking about but I'd need to check.
  8. Of course what was I thinking
  9. Gloss or matt finish?
  10. Very nice, but be prepared as @eude has already warned you. I speak from experience; the full number of my ACGs will never be disclosed.
  11. I was expecting to see a Portaflex or two in there...
  12. I would love to use BC exclusively but I find selling here requires much patience. Of late I've sold a number of basses on ebay when the £1 seliing fee offers are around so only paying for PayPal. I've closed my FB account so no longer an option but it never really worked for me. I always advertise basses on ebay at a higher price than on here and depite this pretty much sell them all on ebay. I do try and do personal meet ups even it it means a bit of travelling so I can be assured of safe arrival and buyer satisfaction. So far so good tbh although I'll prbably get bitten at some point. I always look to buy on here though and BC is also great for trades.
  13. Your 2nd and 4th points would deffo float my boat @cetera . Both together would be optimal.
  14. Without pictures this post is useless
  15. Alan at ACG made me this (essentailly a 32" scale P bass).
  16. I had to dispose of a number of basses in October 2018 to raise some cash quickly due for personal/family reasons. I find myself thinking about where it is now and if there is a possibility of repatriation. Therefore if this is in you possession please can we discuss! Last seem at Carlisle railway station where I handed it over to the very nice man who bought it. It's s/n 00208. Here are a couple of pics:
  17. Nice. Have you seen the one in Rome on Evilbay?
  18. Saw this bass the other day at Ash's and had a go. Great range of tones folks and beautiful wood grains to boot.
  19. App developed to allow seamless and friendly transition of musicians between bands.
  20. Hi peeps I have pretty much three sets of used flatwounds here: A set with red silks (Rotosounds maybe?) that are cut for a Fender style bass A set with green silks that I'm fairly sure are Fenders. These have E/A/D cut for a Fender style bass; but no obvious candidate for a G. A mixed set with blue silks that would work for a 2 over 2 headstock arrangement. The whole, posted to UK mainland, for £25
