  1. Thankfully all this new fangled LPs and CDs and apparently even videos exist. Who knew it would be so easy to appreciate older bands?
  2. For some reason I never really 'got' the Stone Roses, I must persist I guess.
  3. I commissioned this one originally. It's a really nice bass and I regret having to sell it (had to raise some cash for a personal thing).
  4. Now sold. Thanks for all the interest.
  5. They are a very open-minded and receptive bunch of psychos.
  6. Just bought a bass from Tony. Exactly as described and so easy to deal with. A genuine top banana of the BC world. Great bass too!
  7. They are not mutually exclusive. Since you were mentioning Spectors, the Euro series have active EMG pickups and a TonePump preamp. If I was obliged to choose one or the other the fwiw my preference would be an onbaord preamp. I think it's useful to have the control under your fingers rather than wandering back and forth. Plus I use a wireless setup and as we do not have a sound engineer I can hear what the band sounds like in the room, and adjust my bass accordingly without moving an inch. YMMV of course
  8. Thanks for the interest, but looking for a straight sale. Will certainly listen to reasonabe offers though.
  9. OK then, and thanks for the moral support My 5 most listened to are probably: Dark Side of the Moon Fragile Selling England by the Pound Fear of a Blank Planet (Porcupine Tree) The Road (Hundred Seventy Split)
  10. All mine are very uncool so not worthy of inclusion
  11. I wouldn't have thought so on a 1999 Fender bass, but not sure tbh. I know what you mean though. When I compare it other Rosewood boards I have, the grain on this one does look like it belongs.
  12. Yup, that's the badger. Deffo amber not orange
  13. Not quite as vivid as they look. I've just got the bass out and it's between the main pics and the extra pic at the end.
  14. Shipping is the last resort and certainly not ruled out within the UK. Where are you based?
  15. Massively reluctant sale here, and one that I might withdraw at any moment. The bass is only up for sale as I have an incoming Euro 4LE 1979 that has the same pickup configuration so this is an attempt at me being sensible. This is one of the original Legend basses from the first series and dates to 2004-05. The bass is in excellent condition with one or two very minor dings and a mark on the neck that doesn't interfer with your work in any way. Pretty decent weight at just under 9lbs too and will come with a good quality gig bag. The bass is all original and is fitted with the passive EMG HZ pickups and a three-band EMG B30 preamp. This delivers a real Spector punch coupled with the added subtlety and controlability of the three band EQ that is less aggressive than the Tone Pump circuit. The frets are in good condition. As ever I prefer to hand over the bass in person wherever possible and am happy to jump in the car or on the train to meet half way if at all possible. Here are some pics, the colours are a little over-saturated and the bass is definitely amber in colour rather than orange as it might appear. The bottom pic is a better reflection of the true colour. Please ask if you have any questions or would like additional images. Thanks for looking.
  16. For sale or trade is this Fender Jazz bass from the American Traditional range that I believe was built for a short period only in the very late '90s and into 2000. The date stamp on the body is 1999 but I can't figure out what the neck is telling me. I believe that these basses were a kind of fore-runner to the Highway 1 and Highway One basses. The American Traditional range have the one piece pickguard, pickups that are both neck sized and speed dial knobs. Most of the pics show the bass with a set of normal black J knobs fitted but there is one at the end with the original fit items for illustration purposes. I'll leave the black ones on so you can choose. Also you'll notice that the bass has (my preferred) Dunlop straplock buttons installed but I'll refit the original items for you. The bass is in pretty good condition for a 20yr old but has a few minor dings, please see the pics. The frets are in pretty good nick with a little visible wear down at the money end of the fretboard. The body is in a lovely cream colour but I'm afraid I'm not sure what the official Fender designation is. The pickups have a good strong output and a nice warm tone to them. Everything works fine but I'd say the tone control lacks sublety! I was going to put a Kiogon loom in but I thought it better to keep it all original. I'll supply a decent quality gig bag with the bass. The instrument weighs a shade over 9lbs by my scales so not bad at all for a Jazz bass, As ever I'd prefer to meet up and am happy to jump in the car and meet half way somewhere rather than risk a courier if humanly possible. If you have any questions please ask, or indeed if you want any more pics. Just to note that in real life the neck and the fretboard do not look as red as they appear in the pics. Over saturated colour maybe due to my lack of photography skills at play here! The very last pic has a better rendition of the fretboard colour. Thanks for looking.
  17. Hi folks, for sale is my virtually new and unused Sonic Spark (apart from the mandatory plug in to test on receipt). The pedal is in excellent condition and comes with all the original packaging and instructions etc. Basically one of these: https://lehle.com/EN/RMI-Basswitch-Sonic-Spark/VIDEO#go Contains a review by The Bass Whisperer who seems to rather like the pedal New these cost between £190 and £200 so grab yourself a decent discount. Offered at £120 inc. P&P by Special Delivery (to mainland UK). From the manufacturer's website: "The Basswitch Sonic Spark integrates a harmonic overtone generator into a complex EQ section that will make your bass sound shine over stages, studios and rehearsal rooms. This sonic flavour enhancer is equipped with Lehle True Sound Technology, which means it switches via goldplated relays, has a discrete JFET input stage and works internally with 18 V. The Basswitch Sonic Spark has a gain control of +/-15 dB. This will also enable our three Basswitch babies to work as a compact standalone preamp in front of an active monitor or bass cab, while the housing is designed to perfectly match the Basswitch IQ DI."
  18. I stand corrected, I wasn't aware of that fact. My apologies.
  19. Do you not mean Bill and Charlie if this is a Stones reference?
  20. I've generally swapped out the Delano/Sandberg pickups. My TT passive acquired a set of Wizard '74s; my VS gained a Nordstrand NP4; and my TT active received a pair of Bartoline B axis pickups. I preferred all the 'upgrades' to the original fit items, but that is just my view.
  21. Straight sale preferred tbh, but please feel free to PM with any offers. I think the criterion would be that offers would need to involve at least 50% cash my way please.
