  1. User Experience is very grim atm....and my avatar has been thieved
  2. I saw that thanks Ped, but not telling us a great deal tbh. What's the approx timeline do you think, as the UE is not great atm.
  3. I'm getting massive ammounts of huge ads that is making the site all but unusable at the moment. Firefox user btw.
  4. Understand the first reason but not the second, why does the self selection of songs not work for you? Ii surely affords an opportunity to pick songs covering different styles and tempos to demonstrate ones general grooviness.
  5. Mostly self taught but I used to be a good violin player so an amount of musical knowledge definitely helped. Weirdly whilst I can read / sight read the treble clef music I still struggle to read the bass clef, no idea why. Thinking of having pano lessons in an attempt to sort this once and for all. Thinking bass lines, the first band I ever joined (and am still with) is an originals band so probably doesn't count. For covers maybe the following: American Idiot (probably the first I learned) Dark Side of the Moon - taught myself to play the whole thing with a bit of tab help for Time Ziggy Stardust Can't Get Enought Of Your Love Eleanor (The Turtles) Nothing Else Matter (easy, but love the song) Aspiring to learn: What Had Ye For Supper, Maddy Prior iirc, beautiful fretless bass part & Starship Trooper
  6. Per Cuzzie's comments. I recently sold my VS4 and miss it massively (I had put a Nordstrand NP4 pickup in it).
  7. I like comments on threads. One experience I had recently was in respect of an item I had listed. I got a PM from one of our 'glass half empty' members saying it was over-priced and could be bought new for virtually what I was asking. I thought, OK fair point let me do more research. So I did, decided this person was wrong, listed it elsewhere and ended up selling the item for more that I was asking originally.
  8. Since receiving the CD it has been on in the car constantly. Great work Lewis and band. Have told my Scottish mate who broadcasts a prog show to give some airtime.
  9. I used to have a VM4 and ended up selling it as I now know that I prefer a P/J setup. THe P sound was OK but it was no MM bass. Just my view obvs.
  10. Just to note that all of my custom ACGs (and I'm a frequent flyer) have cost less than a Fender Custom Shop bass. In fact a number have cost less than a US Professional series. Yes of course there is a risk, and you definitely won't get your money back, but by chosing carefully (both luthier and spec) then you can mitigate some of that risk.
  11. My Spector Euro LE4 ticks those boxes I think. It's essentially an active P bass.
  12. Envelope filter and chorus now sold.
  13. Yup, good spot bud, these are Sadowsky knobs that I had knocking about. They're a bit bigger and the position marker is much easier to see in the dark on stage.
  14. That was totally accidental and almost certainly user incompetence. Nice P bass sound; just been A/Bing the bass with my Amercian Std P bass to make sure!
  15. New medium scale bass in what is essentially a P bass configuration with passive electronics and a split coil pickup. Like all Alan's work it's a cracker!
  16. Hi folks for sale are three barely used bass Mooer effects pedals. All in excellent condition and in the original boxes. Rather than type out the stuff about each one I'll put a link to the relevant Mooer page. £35 each posted to mainland UK. If you have any questions or would like more pics please just ask. Mooer Envelope Filter: now sold thanks Mooer Ensemble Queen chorus now sold thanks Mooer Thunderball bass distortion now sold thanks
  17. Absolutely fine. Tried it several times yesterday to make sure but not issues at all. This particular bass is wearing relatively lightweight D'Addario nickels in 45/60/80/105 flavours as opposed to the headless Border Reiver, also 32" scale. that has the D'Addario EXL160BT set on. Guages for the 160BTs are 50/67/90/120. Looking at the bass is think black tapewounds might look pretty cool too!
  18. The seeds of the idea to commission a similar beastie were definitely sown after I'd had a go on yours
