  1. Recently acquired my first headless (and short scale at 32") and have not regretted it. Shoulder pads and a dodgy perm next I fear...
  2. Just sold a bass to Dougie. What a nice bloke. Everything went very smoothly, plenty of comms, quick payment highly recommended to the BC community.
  3. Just bought a gig bag from Kevin. Actually a relatively old listing, so doubly pleased it was still available. Kevin was brilliant throughout as had been said many times. Many thanks.
  4. I've definitely owned a few and had to do some rapido fundraising over the last couple of years so collection decreased. The Harlot of FB was one of mine and was seriously thinking about re-acquiring it until I was seduced by the idea of a RetroB. Rebuilding stock now, but not a word please folks They are magnificent instruments though.
  5. Looks lovely. I think I must be the only person on here that doesn't get on with Dingwalls (not for the fanned frets which are fine).

    Bigwan's Feedback!

Ian very kindly relieved me of the burden of ownership of a bass. So good to deal with, super quick payment and very helpful throughout. Top BCer in my view.

    BOTH SOLD

They are whatever Limelight use, I'm not sure tbh, I believe they are custom wound for Limelight. They sound great and have that J bass sound nailed.

    BOTH SOLD

Hi folks I'm having a little clear out of a few basses. I've donated one to a local school and plan to sell these two at very attractive prices and well below where I perceive the market is, mostly in the hope of a quick sale thus preventing me changing my mind. I am happy to deliver within a couple of hours drive from home (PR6) and you are of course welcome to view, try out and collect. Beyond that let's discuss meeting up somewhere as I'd rather not post. There is nothing wrong with any of these instruments and people that know will attest to the fact that I look after my gear. If you have any questions please just ask. So here we go: Fender American Standard Precision Bass 2011 NOW SOLD Comes with Fender hard case and candy. A couple of very minor blemishes, but then it has been a working bass. I actually sold this a few months ago and then managed to buy it back. It's one of the good ones. Black finish with BWB pickguard and Rosewood board. 3.9kgs by my scales. More pics to follow, but here's the general idea: Limelight replica of Geddy Lee's '72 Jazz Bass (2017) £650 NOW SOLD PENDING This was made for me and to my knowledge is the only one made (so far at any rate). It was made using pics of Geddy's actual '72 J bass as well as the Fender CS version and I think it looks very close indeed. The neck is not oiled but has been finished beautifully to play really smoothly. The bass has the Bad A** bridge that has not been aged in unlike the other hardware (per Geddy's bass). Comes with a tatty non-Fender hard case. Weight approx 4.5kgs by my scales. The bass has two pickguards. A nicely aged parchment example and a pearloid white item with the Amalgamation symbol that GL used during the Clockwork Angels tour.
  10. I have exactly this issue and use one of these. It's actually a guitar pedal but works perfectly well for bass:
  11. Do you have the full specs please?
  12. I don't quite understand why this video has generated so much opprobium. Someone has dared to suggest that open strings sound different to a fretted note; that playing in time is a good thing; that overcomplication is not necessarily a good thing and that money end of the fretboard is not a bad place to live in a band context. I can't remember what the fifth thing was, something about not changing the chord by playing the root at the start of each bar. I don't think any of that is bad advice for a beginner/early stage intermediate bassist. It may not chime with all the mega star bassists on here with their multi-million pound deals and globe-hopping tours but I recognise the sense in it.
  13. Thanks for that. I've owned an NS-94, the forerunner to the NS2000s, which was in itself a great bass and very well put together indeed. This was sold and the proceeds went towards the Euro 4LX. I'd say in terms of construction quality not much to choose between them, but I definitely prefer the active p/ups and the EQ setup on the Euro compared to the SSD humbuckers / Hazlab on the NS-94.
  14. What would you guys say are the main differences between an NS-2 and, say, a Euro LX-4? I've never set eyes on a US Spector but one is on my wish list (not a green one).
  15. The volume control on this preamp is 'pull for passive' and the treble control then becomes a passive tone control. Great looking bass btw.
  16. I'm much aggrieved that i can't make the Manchester date next week. I've seen them a few times and they never disappoint. I did catch Steve Hackett last night with the orchestra and band. Excellent show.
  17. I'm shocked @cetera I feel I may have to down-grade your status to 'quite knowledgeable Spector Guru' in light of this shocking revelation
  18. Interested to hear too as I've never even seen on in the flesh. Not that I'm looking mind you. Calling @cetera expert Spector Guru
  19. I'll confirm to Mrs ead that no matter what she thinks it's definitely not me. Phew....
  20. This is us post-set-up and sound check ready for a bikers rally gig last weekend. There was a good sound man out the front who helped us with all the set up and soundcheck as well as live tweakery during the show. The big stack to the left is the PA stuff (not ours). The guitarist has the small whitish amp/cab; the kit was well mic'ed up for this gig; the acoustic guitar went through the fender combo you can see to the right of the kit (but is only used on around 30% of the set), and my Barefaced Super Compact and Streamliner rig is far right (with the unfeasibly bright blue light). We played to around 500 people apparently and we had very good feedback on the sound quality and, thankfully, the performance too
  21. Mine is pretty much bob on 9lbs. Not found anything lighter as yet.
