  1. John East gear is great. Something like his J Tone would be a good option at £150, but check with him about the suitablility of the knobs going through body rather than onto a bell plate. John is mega helpful as well as being a brilliant engineer. https://www.east-uk.com/index.php/bass/j-retro/j-tone101.html
  2. Thanks. I fail spectacularly with all this kind of thing. Best to stick to pidgeons.
  3. If I catch you in my practice room again young sir the outcome may be different....
  4. Thanks, not aware of this and interested to hear as I replaced the Delano pickup in my VS with a Nordstrand NP4 that I feel has really improved the sound.
  5. Do you know which version of the Xtender pickups these are and also the weight please?
  6. I feel your pain as I am striving for mediocrity on fretless basses. Have you been secretly bugging my practice room Dood

    Spector Knobs..

Or just search the F/S section
  10. Sandberg do the snappier Black Label pickups but I've not played a bass with them fitted as yet. I presume the ones you refer to are the same as fitted to the Nighthawk range.
  11. It's ridiculously addictive and should carry a financial health warning imho
  12. Shouldn't a fretless Precision be called an Imprecision? Sorry, I'll get my coat...
  13. Yes deffo within your budget. My commission has a few tweeks from the standard spec on top. But the cooking RetroB is £1,975 which frankly covers a great spec. Can't remember the exact date but the leadtime is shaping up to be around 10 months.
  14. Bloody hell Ash, have you got a cupboard full of these?
  15. Dyed in the wool ACG fanboy here. You can get a RetroB J type bass for well under your budget. The pic is one I commissioned that is getting close to being finished now. https://www.acguitars.co.uk/retrob-basses/
  16. I think they're right up there with the likes of Spector. Not quibbles just try to keep you playing. My minor problem was considerably less serious these but I got the same treatment exactly when other brands might just have said take a hike (as Warwick did).

    Bl**dy GAS !

I couldn't possibly comment, or indeed reveal my list, in case the sainted Mrs ead accidentally stumbles across this thread. I would then be marched through the seven circles of hell (nr Milton Keynes I believe) every day and three times on Sundays.
  18. p.s. Glad you're OK bassmachine 2112. Get medical advice!
  19. Do you favour putting salt in the porridge given the reported effects of too much salt on cardiac health?
  20. It's an ACG.
  21. Does it have to be a USA made thing? I have a simple UK made super J, no fancy tops, two slightly over-wound single coils and a flexible EQ.
  22. Sold elsewhere
  23. Worked for me earlier two, saved £9 on a couple of sets of EXL170BT strings. That was a straight copy and paste.
