Credit where credit is due - Sandberg customer Service experience
ead replied to SimBass's topic in General Discussion
Sandberg do the snappier Black Label pickups but I've not played a bass with them fitted as yet. I presume the ones you refer to are the same as fitted to the Nighthawk range.- 29 replies

Shouldn't a fretless Precision be called an Imprecision? Sorry, I'll get my coat...

Yes deffo within your budget. My commission has a few tweeks from the standard spec on top. But the cooking RetroB is £1,975 which frankly covers a great spec. Can't remember the exact date but the leadtime is shaping up to be around 10 months.

Dyed in the wool ACG fanboy here. You can get a RetroB J type bass for well under your budget. The pic is one I commissioned that is getting close to being finished now. https://www.acguitars.co.uk/retrob-basses/

I think they're right up there with the likes of Spector. Not quibbles just try to keep you playing. My minor problem was considerably less serious these but I got the same treatment exactly when other brands might just have said take a hike (as Warwick did).- 29 replies

I couldn't possibly comment, or indeed reveal my list, in case the sainted Mrs ead accidentally stumbles across this thread. I would then be marched through the seven circles of hell (nr Milton Keynes I believe) every day and three times on Sundays.

p.s. Glad you're OK bassmachine 2112. Get medical advice!

Do you favour putting salt in the porridge given the reported effects of too much salt on cardiac health?

Does it have to be a USA made thing? I have a simple UK made super J, no fancy tops, two slightly over-wound single coils and a flexible EQ.

20% off D'Addario strings - Strings Direct -now ends 31/8/18

Worked for me earlier two, saved £9 on a couple of sets of EXL170BT strings. That was a straight copy and paste. -

Thanks for the heads-up -
Strengths - I would like to think that I'm reliable, have good gear, learn new tunes in time for rehearsals, play sober (but enjoy a post gig beer) Weaknesses - Can't slap, can't sing, rubbish at soloing, still can't get the hang of 5ers Quite like super al in many ways. There's a fighting change we may even share a Christian name....

I do like a P bass and have a very decent Am Std., however the best one I own is actually a Sandberg VS. Light, beautifully made and very punchy with Norstrand NP4 pickups. Here she is pre pickup swap: If you get the chance try out an Electra VS (the more affordable Sandberg line, made abroad but QCed in Germany iirc) as not many pre-loved German-made VS basses around. I think I saw one somewhere recently but can't recall where it was or the asking price. I'll have a nosey...

Am I the only one who doesn't get on with the sadowsky on board preamp
ead replied to mingsta's topic in Bass Guitars
I've had a few different preamps (but to be fair not a Sadowsky). One of my favourites is the ACG SEQ which is in a J type bass I have. It's a volume/blend stack and a separate 'tone' control for each p/up. These are essentially mini filters and have a couple of trim pots that can be set up and the knobs work like two really good two controls. -
Just acquired a BT-8 from Jody. Simplest of transactions, great cooms, swift despatch, exactly as described. Deal in confidence peeps.

My two personal favs are my ACJ J Type a replica of Geddy's '72 Jazz made for me by Limelight. Gratuitous bass pics:
