alternatively, you could name the other pedals in the range Florence, Dougal, Zebedee, Dylan, Ermintrude, Mr. McHenry.....

That body looks a bit like it's made of foam rubber to me. In fact, are you sure the whole thing isn't actually just a giant novelty bath sponge?

This is the first track I've finished in eight years! Been tinkering with it for a few months, and this isn't necessarily the final version, but it's as ready as it's going to get by xmas. The tune is a Swedish folk melody that I learned at the London Scandi session, and which has become the tune which I play for one of Huginn and Muninn's dances, Whirlwind. The arrangement for nyckelharpa, hammered dulcimer (a vsti), synths and percussion is mine. I appreciate that the ethos of these comps is for everyone to be very supportive of one another, which is great, but I'd genuinely appreciate any constructive criticism (feel free to PM if you'd rather not post critical stuff in this thread), even if it's only to tactfully suggest that all things considered one track every eight years is probably more than enough, and I should consider slowing down to avoid creative burn-out. Enjoy, and a happy xmas to one and all.

Joni Mitchell's 'Big Yellow Taxi' has only grown in relevance as the decades roll on. -

Sold Lawrence a Fishman preamp. All good - highly recommended. 😊

So in other words, the long straight pole thing, which should ideally remain rigid, flexes when it shouldn't, hindering your "performance". As you say, "frustrating". I simply couldn't begin to guess....😉

Aww , you've been and gawn and done it now!!! Look out, she's gonna blow!!!!

Pekka Pohjola live with Made in Sweden, 1976
Earbrass replied to BassTractor's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for posting. Just wanted to add that, despite the band name, the rhythm section comprising Pekka Pohjola and Vesa Aaltonen was actually made in Finland 😊. -
Sold a pedal to Stofferson. All good - a pleasure to deal with. Recommended.

I feel that I have fallen on my feet with my current gig. I play nyckelharpa for a highly bizarre and eccentric two-person border morris side. So there are just the three of us; I am the musician and the other two are the dancers. This means I have all the freedom of being a soloist, and pretty much get to choose the tunes I play, but am not the primary focus of attention, and enjoy all the camaraderie of being in a band with two (completely mad but) good friends. There is no heavy gear to lug (just my 'harpa and usually a tiny Roland cube amp), no turning up hours early to set up, or waiting around till late to break down. We can travel by public transport when it suits, or we can all fit in my ancient Nissan Micra (aka the Tour Bus). We get some great and interesting gigs. This year we have performed at a folk-metal gig in Camden, a major European folkdance festival in Germany (which included an arena performance in front of around 5000 people), a fetish club (lots of fun), and most recently a pagan samhain festival (All Hallows Dark Gathering in Boscastle), along with the usual morris gatherings and dance-outs. We have been interviewed twice by the press this summer (once for a local paper in Germany, and once for Dancing Times). We only do the gigs we all want to do - so it's quality rather than quantity. We've also made a shedload of (often strange) friends along the way. All in all, it has been a blast. Long may it continue!

I have a set of unused DR DDT 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 strings for sale if it's of any interest.

DR Drop-Down Tuning Strings - 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 - unused Bought these a few months back when I tuned my bass down to DGCF. Decided I didn't want to mess with the nut, and got used to the slightly floppier feel of the original strings, so never put them on. Box is slightly tatty, but strings are absolutely as new and unused. £20 posted within UK.

How many BassChatters does It take to change a lightbulb?
Earbrass replied to edwn's topic in General Discussion
It's not about the bulb, people, it's about the quality of the light you can create with it. -

As nobody here seems to know the answer, could I suggest you try asking on the Roland Clan forums? https://forums.rolandclan.com/viewforum.php?f=24

For me it was gazing longingly at a "Top Twenty" (?) sunburst solid 6-string in Woolworths - probably 1971 or 1972. Cost around £20 if I remember right. Ended up being taken to a proper music shop and being offered a choice between two Columbus copies - an SG and a 335-alike.Got the SG. Cost my Dad £40 - and me a summer of lawn mowing. First bass came a few years later.

My one and only bass is an old Peavey Milestone 3. Weighs around 3.3Kg (7.27 pounds). 4 string, passive, jazz bass type pickups, long scale. Comfy sculpted body and zero neck dive thanks to exended top horn. Plays and sounds great, and frequently to be found s/h for £50-£100 on gumtree and the like. Not for gear snobs, but otherwise hard to beat imho.
