  1. Many moons ago we played the Catapult Club in New Cross. 410 trace combo. I presume it lived there after the owner a) left in a hurry (the clientele were characterful compared to the sticks where I'm from) and b) it weighed more than the building it lived in. Sounded great, and great gig.
  2. Ditto! Bought an Apollo Twin- set up to use with my laptop- recorded sweet FA.
  3. 2 postponements so far, got another this month i seriously doubt will happen. We're booked for September already as well which is when people are trying to reschedule, so ultimately the postponements will be a cancellation.
  4. The aforementioned gentleman is particularly litigious, won't comment further.
  5. I did wonder when I posted if anybody else would have been affected...
  6. ‘I was in thunderclap newman’ ’I sang backing vocals on Rocket Man’ ’I played guitar Everyone’s Kung Fu Fighting’ All from one guitarist.
  7. Post not competed until you include a photo of the landlords face the first time you rock up at the dog and duck! That is a behemoth.

I sometimes run my lmt500 into an ancient hartke 410, can knock houses down, but then it would if you dropped the cab on a building as well. I use aggie 112s now, so I bet your rig sounds immense.
  9. Meanwhile, over on FoodChat, DrMexican said “The Chinese dish was excellent, great balance of sweet and sour, however I would have preferred it if it was Indian, or even better, Mexican.”
  10. Double champion actually, he's sung with us before! I fank you. I should say that the song itself is a tricky little bugger that's really cleverly written, nick Kershaw i believe, so many key changes. And chesney himself was super pro and very nice to work with.
  11. You want cheese my friends?!? I'm playing 'I am the one and only' with the one and only Chesney Hawkes later this month!
  12. Release date remains a touch uncertain at the moment, but word is a Cardiff premiere. I don’t think the ward family thought the book was that great, the movie should have a lot more accurate stories (as well as some tall tales!)
  13. I think Dave Edmunds was their first number 1 record, Kingsley doesn’t shut up (at all?!?) about it, can’t imagine it’s not in the movie.
  14. Hi all, this may be of interest to many of us, looks like carnage and a miracle anything got done at all!
  15. Mind your toe! I wouldn’t want that beautiful beautiful rig anywhere near my foot!
  16. So far not too bad. Had to miss band call because of flooding, couldn't be sure i could get back to hereford, turns out no as it happens. Tempos are a lot slower than i was expecting, having some ensemble difficulties after probably being too reliant on a metronome practising but overall its a great show and its well arranged for a 5 string, so lots of opportunities to go low without getting glared at by the MD. I've also picked up the show again for a week in July as well!
  17. There’s a few in west side story, Mambo, Cool, The Rumble which are sufficiently challenging. I’ve also posted a few times about Let’s Have Lunch from Sunset Boulevard, basically an 8 minute walking bass exercise that uses every key, time signature, fret known to man with a few soli sections thrown in for good measure. Overall the newer musicals tend to be a bit more interesting for bass, I’ve had When You’re an Addams on the brain at the moment although fortunately is not as fast as I initially thought.
  18. Learning the bassline to Loaded was a wonderful distraction from A Levels. Very sorry to hear this news.
  19. Always when I'm at work. Will be great.
  20. We're learning a take that medley..... Where's the gritted teeth emoji?
  21. Absolutely, you need to have an aesthetic the crowd go for. Being a data geek i actually look at the demographic stats from our social media and then apply the marketing principle 'what were the big hits when they were 16?'
  22. We don’t do all out cheese but doing functions it just not worth trying to have artistic integrity. I did see a fantastic band two years ago called Mac and Cheese. The lead singer was like a West Country jack Black, crowd lapped it up.
  23. Ultimately the singers have to be comfortable singing them. We put a lot of thought into choosing songs, normally trying to stay just on the right side of cheese, if indeed there is one.
  24. British racing green? I'm G&L fanboi so love the colours and love Ed Friedland's reviews so the above video was great. Interesting what he says about notes on the G string having more weight.
