  1. Gone are days of this type of thing. It’s well rough, under rehearsed and bizarre. I love it.
  2. Congrats on your good health and new bass. Still loving your old Aggie db112s you sold me!
  3. I said it was the easy answer! There are of course more complicated examples. In tierce de picardie examples you invariably resolve to the tonic major, so the root would imply what key you’ve been in based in. Of course in those styles of writing it is likely you’ve also modulated through numerous keys as well. In the more modern examples suggested you are of course right, but in those cases you look at related substitutions or cadences and get the ball park. As someone once said about this wonderful art form, it doesn’t have to be correct, it just has to be right.
  4. The easy answer I was taught is look at the last chord.
  5. Before anyone starts the modern G&L design is ace, I love it.
  6. Late 70s wasn’t Ringo at the height of his drinking? Nobody’s form is completely consistent even if the industry is a lot more sanitised these days.
  7. Mods: There needs to be a ‘yeah cheers for that mate, now I’ve got GAS’ button.
  8. Or why most are going kemper/ helix etc and in-ears.
  9. We’re an 8 piece band, it kinda has to be before they all get there. You’ll need space to put cases and lighting rigs etc off the stage before you’re finished. They don’t always remember but my lot know not to unload into the performing area- you end moving everything 3 times and tripping over each other. Lastly, have you played the venue before? Knowing where to park, where the plugs are and how many, are you going to obscure fire exits etc takes the stress level down massively. And use a digital desk!
  10. Ah, I made the mistake of mentioning ‘heavy’ in a thread about Barefaced. I meant tonally. Interesting to see the perils of hired gear permeate through to the pros! I’d have gone with the Aggie every time, the logo’s much prettier.
  11. He’s pretty neutral I always thought. Anyway, looks like a Genzler head on top.
  12. Barefaced- heavy enough for Prophets of Rage, but not heavy enough for......the Mavericks. 🤟
  13. Heaven- tommy cogbill, duck Dunn, chuck Rainey. Hell- slappity slappity slappity slappity, especially on gear demos.
  14. Send a link to this place- surely they owe you sales commission?!
  15. We did a gig at the Catapult Club in New Cross. The bill was set up like Later, so the headliners went on first and did half a set etc, then finished the evening. It was well rough for 3 lads from the sticks but we had everyone dancing. My more current function band have just done the Courtyard in Hereford- went pretty well.
  16. Can depend on the size of the pond! My lord my ego took a knock leaving home to study trumpet at Uni.
  17. Isn’t the lyric another Who speech impediment thing? You’re meant to hear ‘alright’, or maybe that’s just me.
  18. Did that headstock inspire Tru*p’s combover or was it the other round?
  19. Isn’t the rule of thumb, the heavier the band the nicer the guys? Would explain the Eagles too.
  20. I have a 410 in my classroom, I’m sure a local school would be happy to have it. It’ll need to be pretty robust!
  21. I just had to double check that, you gig with two 412s and a 400w head? Where on earth do you get to do that?!?!
  22. Ah man I’m in Hereford, that’s seriously tempting. Although to be fair I could probably hear it from here....
