1. Don't know about the strings but it's probably Willie Weeks you're thinking of!

77 P Bass
Also, this year might be a good time to sell, as it's someone's Y.O.B. 40th birthday bass Obviously, in 2027, it should be worth more - as that's a 50th birthday YOB for someone
Went for a G&L LB100! High values for a 70s fender seem a bit bizarre, I don't think you could buy a guitar magazine in the 90s that didn't say somewhere they were poor. Totally get why that's not always true, a mate has a great 70s strat, but it's also nowhere near as good as his 60s job.
3. What kind of playing are you doing now? I ask because it's very difficult to go into that market completely cold.
4. If you're going to do a Chuck cover justice, you need a bloody good piano player!
5.
Jarrit Reddick and David Gates for the first course (Bowling for Soup, Bread), Lou Rhodes and Marvin Lee Aday for the mains (Lamb, Meatloaf), Will I.Am (Black Eyed Peas),Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumkins),Paddy MCAloon (Prefab Sprout), Martha Johnson (Martha and the Muffins), Eric Clapton (Cream) or Vanilla Ice, finishing off with Errol Brown (Hot Chocolate)
I applauded before replying.
6. The recordings sound great, had to learn Raining in my Heart for a dep the other day and was blown away by the quality of the arrangement, mix and performance.
7. Two married couples in our band! Sax and guitar, singer and bass. No arguments, we all know bass runs the show.
8. Two amps, a lmt500 which does the job and a hartke 1400 series head. Looks like a cheese board with knobs on. Then a pair of Aggie db112s and a hartke 410xl, original American job. Still sounds great after an unbelievable amount of abuse.
9.
Very nice indeed. That exact bass was on my shopping list from GBBL but I have to sell my DB before I can buy anything. Congratulations on a lovely bass
Thank you If you don't mind I'll use this as the proof I needed as to why I needed to buy it immediately! Apparently it was the last new one in the country. I'll try and do it justice. SB2 was tempting but I wanted to go hardcore, one pickup only.
10. After 17 years of bass monogamy, and significant birthday passed, Edna has doubled the herd. I always thought my ASAT (Edith) did a suitable P bass sound if necessary but after years of membership here and seemingly each new bass player I discover being a major precision user, I gave in. She arrived, fresh from the Great British Bass Lounge yesterday (great to deal with) and was straight off to our weekly rehearsal. Set the gain up on the amp and started playing, flat eq, a little bit of VPF to tame the volume for the small room and everybody's happy. Now I know what the fuss is about, it felt like coming home for a bassist. Usual fantastic G&L build quality, action and neck feel amazing although ever so slightly different to what I'm used to. The tone pot is surprisingly effective, never touched them before. I'll never be a real fender fan, im always disappointed when I see them in the flesh, so I've been hanging on since these were reintroduced and it's been worth the wait.
11.
My recently acquired Demeter VTHF-300M all valve power amp:
Not much compromise on tone there then. Flipping monster rig.
12.
Another random DS fact some of you might not know - the band recorded this one before MK decided it should be sung by a lady. So this is basically Tina Turner fronting DS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4QnalIHlVc
Unbelievably, my aforementioned mate did do the demo for this. He thought nothing of it, although he said can imagine how miserable it sounded, forgot about it, then heard the Tina version and it took him ages to remember why it was ringing a bell. I'll stop banging on about him now. For the time being 😉
13.
Let's not overlook a superb example of design brain-fartery (body included).
One of my all time favourites!
14. Given in, mine arrives Tuesday.
15. I thought these kind of discoveries didn't happen any more! There's hope for us all!
16. A friend of mine was given the opportunity to engineer Brothers in Arms, but he declined to work with McCartney instead. Turned out to be the Frog Song.
17. Great lines and tone on Nirvana's nevermind, loved it. Tommy Cogbill on tracks like Wilson Pickett's Midnight Mover and Funky Broadway pushed me more to that style of playing.
18. Let's stay together, lovely day and blame it on the boogie, equal first for me.
19.
Any G&L.
Oi!
20.
My carlsbro viper was awful... underpowered farty monstrosity... although it was miles better than the HH bass baby it replaced. The HH was so bad and I became so enraged with it I ended up smashing it to pieces in the garden with a sledgehammer... i think the speaker magnet is still stuck to my parents radiator. 😐
The sight of my hh 215 sticking out of the skip in my rear view mirror was one of the happiest days of my life.
21. Encore PB3 into a BC rich 30w combo, via a green glow in the dark lead. 90s!
22. G&L asat, polytune, bass soul food, mxr octave, source audio manta, markbass tube 500, Aggie db112s. In tweed. Makes a big difference to how they sound. Oo, and suitable top notch cables, obbm speaker leads, planet waves and those solderless jobs on the board. They really do make a difference!
23. I know this was in Worcester, how far has it got?!
24. Tommy Cogbill, by a nose from Duck Dunn. Lowdown greasy sleazy bad asses that people still dance to.
