  1. Back for sale due to timewaster!

I have carried out the following upgrades:

    Seymour Duncan SPB-2 Pickup.
US Spec wiring kit (CTS Pots/Switchcraft Jack etc)
    3-Ply BWB Pickguard.
Added Tone pot and Copper cavity shielding.
    (Original plate and pickup included)

Weight is 8lbs and a quarter of an ounce. Nut of 1.625" with uber comfortable shallow C profile.

Superb playing neck! A new one would cost you £265 and this owes me a little over £400. In the interests of disclosure I had to dremel the pickup opening on the guard to get the SD's in, couple of small scuffs on top but cant pick them up on my camera. I would be keeping this if I could but I am seriously over extended at the mo!

I would prefer collection from the Bournemouth area or close by meet-up. The £250 includes postage within the UK so the price can be discussed if collecting etc.

    Thanks for reading! Joe

  2. I hope I've sussed out the culprit...

The Duncan design quarter pounder is set very close to the strings. Would this produce a crackle + distortion I shall find out when I get home!

  3. Hi all,

Recently acquired LH500 head and 410TP cab. Plugging in new Squier Chris aiken P, running VT bass in front.
Loud and punchy but a bit of crackle and hiss coming through. No noise with the bass unplugged/turned down. Seems very prominent on the low E, and occurs with the pedal on/off or disconnected. I've checked cables and connections for noise.
When I tried the head at the sellers house it was crackle free, as was the cab from someone else. I don't have a 2nd bass or cab to try through it. Could it be a shielding issue?

    Many thanks, Joe!

  4. I am doing just that! I can tolerate the mirror guard but the plan was always to mod it, just saying it wouldn't need it if you wanted to leave it stock. I have a SD SPB-2 (not a huge fan of quarter pounders) , US wiring kit and a black pickguard to go on it. Also doing full copper shield on the cavity etc. I shall post some pics once mods are complete!

  5. Today I acquired a Squier Chris Aiken Precision Bass. In short it is marvelous. Sounds great, no fussing about with anything bar eq'ing a bit on the amp. The neck is superb, one of the nicest playing necks I've laid hands on. Fit and finish is all fine and for the pricepoint I genuinely can't fault anything on it.

    Verdict: Highly Recommended!

  6. I'm in the market for a P style bass, maple board preferably. Budget is a bit limited so I have mainly been looking at the Squier Matt Freeman model. I have ended up on the Bass Centre website and was wondering if anyone knows what the Power/Jive bass models they do are like? I like the look of the Red + Maple frankenstein power bass but have never seen any of these in the flesh. (Electronics are not an issue I have an SPB-2 and CTS pots sat here to go in whatever)

    Many thanks for any input!

  7. Hi all,

I have an LH500 head which i want to run a tech 21 vt bass pedal through. I was wondering if its better to run it 'in front' or through the effects loop? I am not after a heavy grind just that ampeg classic thick valve tone.

    Cheers, JM

  8. Hi all,

Due to suddenly needing a bigger rig I'm moving on my one month old Mibass 1x10 combo. I bought it from Andertons for £379.99 so looking for £250 ono. (Something up here I want to buy)

Nice lightweight combo, easy one hand carry. Head is removable for seperate use if needed. 400w RMS, DI out etc. Single 10" driver is surprisingly potent. It's been to one rehearsal and no gigs.

As said looking for £250 preferably collected from Bournemouth area. I may be able to post if you arrange courier etc.

    Thanks for reading!

Edit - Video gives a good example of the sounds towards the end.

  9. Hi All,

I have for sale my Tokai Rockinbetter in Fireglo, its in all around good condition bar the 3 small dings that I have pictured and it is missing the pickup cover (Could do with some new strings). All the electronics work fine and with new strings I am sure it will sound fab!

I am totally unable to post this and ideally I am looking for a very quick sale, collection is from the Bournemouth area or if the full asking price is offered I can meet out a short distance if it makes the deal easier.

Looking for £125 ono, Thanks for reading!

  10. Hi All,

After HAVING to sell up the last of my gear earlier this year on this very forum, I recently found myself in a position to start looking for a new bass (Yipee!).
I was finally lured back in after seeing a Tokai Rockinbetter in nice condition in a local Cash Generator, £200 for a nigh on immaculate example in Fireglo which I thought was pretty damn reasonable. So after giving it a quick once over I have parted with the hard-earned and look forward to getting back to thumpin some strings!

    Peace! JM :)
