1.
. This is something that I've noticed but couldn't put my finger on. What's the best way of fixing this (save for getting in a bass player with a more consistant technique ) A touch of compression maybe or will it possibly be cured if we pan the guitars more widely to hopefully unclutter the frequencies?
If that doesn't do it - drop a volume envelope on the track and adjust to suit to your taste.
2. Just bought a Beri X Vamp from Simon - much better condition than i was expecting for the lowly price I paid, with prompt delivery and good comms. very happy!

Reaper MIDI Help

No worries, fella. I'm about 3 years into Reaper now and wouldn't think of using anything else... Anything else I can help with, just ask.

Reaper MIDI Help

Press alt and drag the edge of a midi item (and audio item if you wish) to the target bar marker - and Reaper will timestretch/shrink it for you.
5.
ive got a nice sounding mix of this, if i could only convince reaper to mix it down onto mp3....
Have you dropped a LAME encoder into your Reaper program folder? Reaper needs this to create mp3's, but doesn't come with the install... link if you need it http://free-codecs.com/lame_encoder_download.htm
6. I had a lad come round for some guidance a while ago, he brought along a Squier Bronco - which sounded great through a decent rig! Not exactly pretty to some - but fits the bill every where else.... http://www.dv247.com/assets/products/34776_l.jpg
7.
Sorry if my post sounded terse, there should have been a couple of smileys in there matey! Fixed now The notes played are the 1, 3, 5 triad for each chord aren't they?
No worries fella, no terseness detected here. I reckon G B D is the Gmajor triad so I'm sticking with my original thought
8. I just pcked up my guitar to check, and I'm now pretty sure its A (or more likely Am) and G major.
9.
Are they not more like bits of Am and C barre chords? The actual notes are A, C & E and G, B & D...
Thats right of course.... must get some specs sorted! The first barre could be major or minor as written The second could be a C minor with G bass, maybe?
10. they are partial A and G barre chords (in that order)
11. Floating. Been floating so long it feels wierd to anchor....
12. USB to any computer not good enough?
13. Surely a Zoom H2 or similar will do everything you want if you keep it away from any undesirables...
14. Another option - loosen strings and lay a strip of PTFE tape (or as many strips as needed) on the nut, under the strings and tune to pitch.... carefully cut of any excess. Saves wasting good rizla

VST Help

Did you rescan for Vst's when you unzipped into your plugin folder? This shows up as TAL Noisemaker Plugin in Reaper's VSTi list on my machine (32bit Reaper/Win7x64).
16. Very, very much in agreement with all of the above - applies at any age too...
17. I could point you towards many free VST's for PC - but as you are a mac user, maybe this > http://dogparksoftware.com/iSpectrum.html will do the job....
18. I'd recommend playing as lightly as you can.. try working on yor fret hand first, when fretting - try 'placing' ( not squeezing) your finger just onto the string to touch the string against the side of the fret (not the fingerboard). Practice until you get a clean note...this is all the pressure you'll need to play. Use the same method (playing as lightly as you can - letting the amp do the work) for your other hand if you play fingerstyle - this will help your dynamics as you get more familiar with playing lightly... just the way I was taught - but it works for me HTH Mick edit the other light touch posts beat me to it
19. I wouldn't say that... I would have jumped all over this if I hadn't just bought a 15w all valve combo - have a bump on me.
20. Small world! Kirsty runs the local open mic night round here - I'll drop some round to the Green Dragon...
21. Bit late, but... A big thank you to Patch and Andy and his wife, for organising such a genial get together. Being surrounded by so many desirable lefty basses was an experience only matched by meeting such a great bunch of people. I'd Definitely do it again if the chance arises! Ok, just to put a name to a face - amongst Ped's pictures, I'm the bloke with the cap admiring Malcom's red frankenP (maybe the most comfortable bass I ever played).
22. Not as far as i know - but I got an 8 channel Fw interface for that. Think of it more as a decent quality location recorder with decent mics - that can be used as a USB interface if needed.
23. I like the Zoom H2 a lot. Very good sound quality, if a little lacking in bottom end.... I use it for general recording, miking vocals and guitars, recording from the desk, etc, etc. For an Idea of sound quality,I've attached an mp3 (recorded in mp3 format as the card was nearly full at the time) of my wife,a friend and myself jamming through Weller's Wild Wood in our dining room using the inbuilt mics...
