.
Not cool. They could be put on proper left handed instruments.
For a lefty, it gives the option of loads of 'righty' necks to use.. This maple strat neck is far better than the lefty r/w it came with.

I got to talking music with a chap (Joe Jeffery) who regularly walked his dog (Dexter) past our work site... Turns out he's a Blackstar Artist and Auden guitar endorser, currently playing guitar with Beau Holland. linkage: https://soundcloud.c...e-like-you-demo

Great deal on a metronome... fast delivery and well packed. Thanks Dennis!

If your computer can handle it ... record and mix in 24/88.2k rather than 44.1 or 48k. A startling improvement in clarity/quality for free!

First recording using a Warm Audio Tone Beast TB12

Man, with that sort of quality at 48k - I'm confident you'll love working at 88.2 ( it's like lifting a blanket off your monitors...) Again, great song and mix... please keep 'attempting' those vocals so I can hear more of your work. -

Sounds great! I really like the track... fine work all round, particularly the vocal. That's a lovely three dimensional sound from the mic/pre combination - do you record using 88.2 or 96k by any chance? -
Just got back from Pauls after buying a little practice amp... a coffee and a good chat was included! He's a sound fella that I wouldn't hesitate to deal with again.

I actually prefer people to post the URLs as I can't view embeded YouTube on my Kindle Fire HDX, which is a major pain in the ar$e for me, especially on threads that are YouTube content heavy. If I'd known the Kindle didn't support flash, I probably wouldn't have bought it.
No problem, I'm still PC only (didn't consider phones, tablets etc)... you need to lose those ' http:// ' entries to get there... www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUUn_5qNguo

With many and myriad mics available at low cost - it seems hard to find audio clips to get an idea of sound quality... I have been praising my RV15 (Sylvania valve) on the forum here for a while now, so i thought I'd share a recording to hopefully back up my enthusiasm and hear the mic in use...
Ooh yes, this is a good tip. I find that it's not so much the key to the song I need, just the note that my part starts on. Once I've played that first note I'm away. So I try to associate the first note with something about the song and keep that in my head. It was quite easy with these: 'Bohemian Like You' - starts on B for Bohemian 'Gigantic' - starts on G for 'Gigantic' Had more difficulty with Car by Gary Numan - starts on D, so I had to think of D for Daimler. Likewise Hey Joe - couldn't think of a way to remember that it starts on C. Until our guitarist suggested 'Hey Joe - you chump!' I never forget that now
Good system - Hey Joe starts with an A riff though... A,D,B - A,D,B - A,B ( sorry for the pedantry )

What kind of brick structure - old or more recent, single course or double? concrete floor or other, how's the integrity of the roof, etc

There are some great rigs here! I'll throw some budget gear into the pot... My bitza Strat - The guitar is made from a budget Tanglewood strat body, cheapie Wesley maple neck, GFS Mean 90 bridge and neck pickups with GFS lipstick in the middle... upgrade electrics and Wikinson hardware. The amp is a Super Champ X2... together they sound like this https://soundcloud.com/mick-hastings/p90-pickup-demo

Show some love for...Fender valve amps, lets see what you have.

Enjoy yourself and don't be nervous - keep playing, even if you mess up (very important)... wear light clothing (it'll get warm) and breathe......

Ok,clip sorted.. linkage > https://soundcloud.c...p90-pickup-demo The sloppy pentatonic wibble is the neck p/u - the rhythm power chords are the bridge... backing track kindly supplied here > http://www.youtube.c...4?feature=watch The guitar is made from a budget Tanglewood strat body, cheapie Wesley maple neck,GFS pickups/upgrade electrics and Wikinson hardware. Soundwise - very stratty still, but louder, fatter and a bit darker with an extra sting that responds to pick dynamics - I get a lot of fun from it.

You have tried the mic directly into the interface ( to eliminate a fault with the Penta), different leads, etc?
-
I made a partscaster with GFS Mean 90s in the neck and bridge (lipstick in the middle). The video posted above gives you an idea but the sound quality makes it hard to actually listen - I'll get a clip recorded...
-
I think The Focusrite Bilbo mentioned is a channel strip fed to his interface - I use a Platinum Trakmaster myself....
