1. Just guessing here....You have to enable your midi input in Reaper if you haven't already - see section 1.15 in the manual.... http://dl.reaper.fm/...erGuide457C.pdf
 2.
so do these have a specific midi converter to interface the computer then ? I have a midi - USB cable but nothing happens when I plug it ? I am missing something obvious I am sure
Lots of controllers use USB these days, which bypasses the need to have midi in built into your interface... IIRC your 2i2 has no midi in - so a Nanokey/pad is very likely the easiest and hassle free way in. If you do want to use you existing keyboard using it's midi out, I would consider an interface upgrade ( or a separate midi interface) rather than trying to use a generic midi/usb workaround device....
 3. For quick and easy midi work, I use the Korg Nanokey , Nanopad and NanoKontrol - around £30 each... The Kontrol is worth having just for writing automation alone... edit for linkage:http://www.korg.com/nanoseries2
 4. http://www.guitarfetish.com/Mean-90-True-Alnico-P90-Pickup-in-Humbucker-Case-Our-FATTEST-Chrome-Bridge-Pickup_p_480.html I put a set in my frankenstrat.... cheap to buy - lovely tone imho.
 5. http://www.alesis.com/stuff/contentmgr/files/0/d7909ae33556f846f984cf64973f2bb9/file/multimix8usb2_0_refmanual_reva.pdf According to the manual (see above link), you get 4 mic ins,4 line ins and a stereo mix if you want it...
 6. You need to plug the holes (drill out and glue in a dowel with wood glue/PVA) then pilot and screw in the correct position.
 7. I prefer to multitrack live, too... at least you can balance levels and ride (fine tune with envelopes) volumes with each track - while still capturing the live vibe.
 8. Cheapest.... an Alesis multimix 8 will get you 8 seperate ins to your lappy via USB - around £110 new.
1. Insert the original MP3 cover track into Audacity (or whatever) as a new track 2. Play my bass line as a new track 3. Email the RAW bass line track and MP3 file to the other band members who do the same. 4. The end result is a 5 track RAW file which can then be mastered. Is this the normal way of doing things? Thanks for any pointers.
Thats OK, but don't use mp3's unless you really have to - WAV will give a much better result... As will Reaper over Audacity. As for your laptop, it should be fine for tracking (just recording) unless it is really aged.
 9.
Couldn't agree more! I find my hand moves better across a glossy/polished neck, - lower coefficient of friction surely?
Yup.... I use T-cut/fine cutting compound on sticky necks - to finish the job that should have been done at the factory...
 10.
IThe only thing that made a difference was to alter the sample rate on the Quad Capture, went from 44.1 to 192 and the problem increased,
try setting to 48 and then adjust the sample rate buffer - after updating the driver,of course...
 11. I have to echo the comments that are posted through this thread.... Jon was good enough to answer my questions promptly, and then hold the item for me to suit my cashflow. Communication was great and the extemely thorough packaging saved the day (UPS delivered a torn/dented box). It was a genuine pleasure dealing with Jon... highly recomended!
 12.
Jimi Hendrix can also be added to the list too. Another lefty genius
He usually played strung normally, didn't he?
 13. I was perhaps a little unclear in my earlier post...If a nut is cut too low - I prefer to remove the nut and use a shim between nut and neck. Almost invisible and gives you the chance to get it right...
 14. No problems with running both on the same computer,
back to this one as I may need it again this month , but if I link my lappy to the PC can I just import the file from the PC x32 , into the PC x64 , or is that just a foolish, simpleton idea.
Yes you can, its not the best use of your time/workflow - but your call... probably quicker to consolidate/export the whole project onto a flash drive and transfer that across.
I dont want to install another version of reaper as I fear a right mess of file and folder names with resultant confusion to afforementioned simpleton ...........
No hassles here.. I have 2 desktop icons that labelled themselves, to start whichever I choose (or both if needed). They are both set to use the same vst folder and both will happily work with any .RPP file. Nowt to fear, seriously...
 15. Easy, quick way to check the slot height ( saves finding the feeler gauges). Fret the string at the 3rd fret and tap the string with your fingertip onto the top of the first fretwire. The ideal height yields a click as the string contacts the fret - if there is any discernible movement before the click then you'll need to lower the slot. No click means you have gone too far and you'll need to pack the nut slot and try again. If you take it very carefully and check progress frequently, it should be difficult to overdo it. I
 16.
Sorry for hijacking the thread a bit but what did you think of the X2? A friend of mine is looking at a new amp mainly for home use and I reckon one of these fits his bill perfectly (he's also looking at a Vox VT4 but I think the Fender is the better bet albeit £11 more).
Ok, I was looking for something that made an MIA strat and a MIJ tele sound fantastic - and give that 'joy to play' feel back from the amp... The X2 absolutely blew me away with it's beautiful 6v6 fender sound - it has a12ax7 valve in the pre to warm up the amp modelling and 2x 6v6's giving 15w AB valve power.... If I googled correctly, the Vox is SS with a only 12ax7 in the preamp and 40w SS power - I didn't try one,tbh - the SS poweramp crossed it off my list
 17. I'd take the CV anytime... I played one at PMT whilst amp shopping, It sounded stunning through a super champ x2 and felt great to play. We had a Vintage LP goldtop in the house a while back - good guitar and P90 sound but not in the same league as the CV.
 18. I'd go with that... my lefty Tele has just 'Fender' on the headstock.
 19. Just to clarify: It is fine to use Reaper x32 on a x64 computer. I do it myself as a lot of plugs I use are 32 bit only... I do this to lower the CPU hit that comes with bridging plugs.
 20. If Drumcore plays nice with Reaper x32 - simply install a copy of 32bit Reaper to use for drums, do what you need and import into your x64 project. Or do it all in '32' if you're not intending to use lots o' RAM.
 21. copi
So is Jbridge incorporated in Reaper ? Or is it their own bridge ? I don't use Reaper, so would not know.
from the Reaper site: Native bridging and firewalling: run Win32 plug-ins in REAPER x64, maximize RAM utilization, protect against plug-in crashes.
 22.
Reaper does not need jbridge.

Reaper bridges very well for itself these days...
Maybe I wasn't clear enough....
 23. Reaper bridges very well for itself these days... as for the drumcore problem - you could try Addictive drums demo (one kit only but sound great) or EZDrummer is my choice but will cost ya. (lite version available on CM disc and some hardware)
 24.
Thanks OldG. What about left (fretting) hand? I find that when I slide from one octave to a higher one my index goes nicely against the fret but my ring finger ends up in between the frets and the high note buzzes. Just lots if practice again?
Yep, practice it is unfortunately.... now get used to playing with the fifth on the string in between - and you've got the tools to bluff your way through a lot of tunes...
