I used to hate octaves until I changed to floating thumb! Much easier now
This. Float your thumb and use index and middle - sure feels weird to try this anchored...
T-cut on a duster or muslin or stockinette cloth.
Yup, just beat me to it.... works a treat.
If the nut is cut wrong, and the string is "fretting" at the back end rather than the front, the lower frets will appear sharp if the intonation is set correctly at the 12th. More likely the nut is too high though, as Mr Foxen suggested.
My first thought - but no mention of problems at the first and second fret? ...

3rd fret sitting high combined with a mole grip strength fretting hand?

You shouldn't get any clicks at all,Lurks... It this a laptop ? If so, start by disabling power saving and remove the battery, also manually turn off WiFi. You could switch off the fancy metro pish - that'll make it fly...

I use the finger nails on my thumb and first finger, down strokes with the first finger - upstrokes with the thumb... like I would hold a plectrum I couldn't find any better way to play power chords or lead without resorting to a pick.

OldG replied to Pestie's topic in Basses For Sale
I could do with a right handed bass in the house that the ladies can use.... If it has no neck dive tendencies, we'd like to come and have a look.
Someone buy this bass! I was all set to arrange a viewing when a short scale Jag came along which is a better bet for my petite wife... If this was Lefty I'd buy it for myself! -
I am thinking of getting a left hand bass. Anyone any thoughts on this as a beginners bass please? http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649
My second ever bass... I was glad to see it go tbh, very uninspiring tone and feel. Get a modern cheapie - they are much better than the budget 'classics' imho.

My mistake, I was wrongly assuming that this was the Hercules stand you had....nevertheless,It'll do the job nicely.
-
Have you tried using monitors/speakers turned up fairly well yet? should work the same as a guitar amp...
-
I'm interested in finding out how a Hercules doesn't work... I use mine for a Jazz, BC RIch,.Strat,Tele,Les Paul and acoustics of different sizes. I'd guess you are trying to stand on the lower leg rather than resting the back against it - happens a lot when uninitiated pepole use it....
Cheers Garry , I think I will have to put a few phrases together how I like them then do a copy paste thing , I was hoping to split the actual tom hits from the track, I can ID them , but chopping each one out just seems a total pain , as I will also have to keep them in the right time space . I will have a look for the auto chop that Si has eluded to , or overdub , but I didn't want to do that .
Sounds like a job for the dynamic split function...
Entertaining, poignant, informative and witty. Gem of a programme.
Just listened and yes, all of the above... -
Are you wanting nearfields? The guys on the Reaper forum absolutely rave about the Equator D5's... available in this country for £349 from here. If I could ever afford decent monitors - these would be on order..

Voted. Hard to choose I found - I don't think soundcloud has been very kind to them... It seems the busier the material - the more the processing kicks the life outta things. I know it's the same for everyone - but all the same, hard to predict what the final version will end up like... Any way we can render/host our own mp3's to be in control of the end sound?
I'd personally be happy to reintroduce the original idea of standardizing these mixes using K-metering. I think it'd need a mini- tutorial to clarify (and simplify) what's involved - and would probably also need 'policing' to make sure everyone sticks to it. But in the long run I think it'd be worth the effort. Anyway, food for thought...
+1, makes sense...

Lots to like here - shame to have to pick one Voted all the same...
Got quite excited about this and gave it a go, but it doesn't seem to be working properly for me. Shame. Seemed to drop the output to almost inaudible when I switched it on.
Have you turned up the input and output level, etc? I find it really works well when a good amount of the original signal is dialed back in with the blend pot..

I used to play acoustic nights with a Jazz and a Line 6 amp - I took a line out to the PA and used a low volume on stage to monitor. Everyone seemed very happy with the results.. I looked at the spec on the Laney, but couldn't see a line out.. you could mic it up or even use the 'phones socket at a push.
-
Very, very nice! Is that 'fender' scale length?
-
Thanks Garry, I haven't really explored samplers as yet - but this has me interested...

Milton, you totally miss my point...... I took exception to the abrasive manner with which you dismissed White Cloud - i don't agree with the analogy myself either, but then I'd be polite enough to discuss my different opinion without calling anyone's opinion useless.... It seems I'm flogging a dead horse trying to get you to show a bit of consideration to others - obviously you don't get out much.
