44/24 here too.... though I'll go to 48/24 for smaller projects. Thought I'd share a great bass vst I came across while working on this project.... free download here . works better for me than all the free amp sims I've tried on it
-
I use a set of m-audio studiopro 3's ( the forerunner to the AV's) - far better for mixing than any PC speakers I tried, imho. I got them off of the forum here a while back for around £40, worth scouting for a used pair of these on the bay. etc.

If you haven't already go to file> audio & midi settings to check GR recognizes your Beri as input... A window like this will appear - I've never used a guitar link but it may be that it shows as an unnamed generic usb device.

So I just checked, cause the P4 description wasn't sounding quite right... The 45 we have uses a Shadow P7, which would help to explain my confusion over sound quality - it's a great pre if you can find one
I am still working my way around the software and there a few things that I have got to get my head around
Anything you want to get sorted - just shout,mate... If I can't help, then the other guys surely will. (and I might get to learn something!)

I reckon the P4 sounds much better than any B- Band I've tried.... I'd love a lefty for myself, but all the '45's I've tried were B-Band equipped and were a real disappointment compared - harsh and nasal imho. Have you explored the P4 EQ settings to suit your taste? I'd definitely try a B-Band equipped Tanglewood before buying anything...

this might be of help... plastic online -
Excellent! That turned out better than you expected, then... My wife has a '45' (the smaller body type). Many people who've played it - wanted to buy it (she would never part with it), or get one like it . If it plays and sounds like the '45', with added oomph from the jumbo body - then you just bought my dream acoustic.

no probs... edit: For anyone wishing to add a youtube video to their post - just click on the 'share' tab below the video, copy the code (highlighted in blue) and paste into your post.

I'm just getting to work with the song, using aux sends and a fair amount of insert fx - my quad core is at 25 - 30% and taking around 500meg of RAM. I'm guessing that dual core or above should manage.

How about trying Wavosaur - free and doesn't even install itself... nowt to lose
Just listened to some recordings we did with 2 AT2020s at the back of the room a year ago, and instantly I can tell we're missing Hi-Hats and cymbal sparkle from this recording. I haven't got enough microphones or channels!!
Red 5 do great drum sets... feed and balance 'em into a mixer then to your interface. Nice clear recording btw, needs a little eq, compression etc just to polish but a solid recording all the same.

320 meg zipped, Lurks... 33 tracks in all. The drums are interesting - I've got gates all over them... Great song, BTW...
WELL DONE PAUL
+1 I've played Make it right maybe 2 or 3 times a day for a while now - can't leave it alone!
Thanks a lot for that great in depth analysis Skol, I will listen again to your mix with new ears now. It puts my mix to shame - just a few pre sets and none of the fancy stuff for me! I will try and utilise some of your ideas on my next project - we just recorded a new album, (10 tracks in one evening) and I'm about to start on the mixing.......
I think the best thing to come out of all this is, that you/we will probably listen to our own efforts with new ears... I gotta get away from presets too - your not alone there Good luck with the the new album, man
-
Thanks also for the step by step Skol, I have 'borrowed' the stereo image/split on the 2buss - just what I needed! You got me gassing that Softube gear too...
Generally I find the aluminium cabs to have too much 'zing' to them. I do rate the amps highly though, especially the LH500 and 1000 amps.
My Jazz (tokai '62 copy) had a lovely exaggerated growl through the aluminum coned cab i used.... the strings were well used though - enough to thump like flats (I'm not a fan of zing either).
-
I used to gig with a Jazz through a borrowed HA3500 and TP410 - lovely tone with just a little valve pre mixed in. I was extremely sad to give it back and use the Line 6 LD300 I bought to replace it - total disappointment
-
Voted. Some outstanding work here,chaps!
. All units are in VGC with broken parts / knobs or issues - some units are the newer ones with black fronts, others are slightly older ones with red fronts... i cant remember how many i Hit me with any questions!
Should that read no broken parts etc, or are they all slightly damaged or faulty?
-
If the synth is still the same as the LD300 then its pretty much useless...
We did this because we were having some odd things happening with some brass and string section stems/busses which were Reverb and Delay related. Garry
Good point - I hadn't thought about delay sync and reverb tails and time stretching, thank you!
-
It would be simple in Reaper - hold alt and drag the end of the audio track ( make it smaller will speed up while preserving pitch)... tweak till happy. Reaper will run on an old P3 (and I doubt if your box is that old) - why not down the demo and play around with it?
-
Here's a pretty straightforward vid on setting up an aux send reverb track in reaper - should apply to most DAW's. Forgot to mention, the effect on a send should be 100% wet...
-
Not 'wrong' really, inserts are very limiting though (as described above) - a compressed vocal will prefer an aux send reverb treatment too... Found a video describing this - try and get round the 'chipmunk' vocal Insert reverb effects start getting tedious when you need to apply a little ambience reverb to several groups(busses) - in a large project that's a lot of setting up time and CPU power taken up unnecessarily ....
