1. Skol's not yet finished competition bass, has to be in here somewhere.
 2. Oh, I'll play, me and my harley benton EUB, in the rain.... and in the sun (with dedicated early arriving fan at soundcheck) and at the BBC.... None with current summer hat I'm afraid though.
 3.
Pub guitarists who don't use any reverb on their lead/solo sound.
and quite the opposite.
 4.
So is this..............
Oh my..... I need more greenburst instruments in my life.
 5.
Everything looks cool on you, Dave!
that was the hottest outdoor stage in the history of outdoor stages. Sun was pouring right in the front of it, no shade, nowhere to hide. I though I was going to drown. Seriously good trick to look "cool" in such a place. ta Shell.
 6.
I used to have one similar, which I lent to someone. What a small world.
Mo?
 7. Internet Fora
 8. Back on topic, Pickups where you can't see the pole pieces, matching headstocks, and headless.
 9.
Thanks Dave, we can always count on you to come up with the goods.
Always glad to help.
 10.
Eeeeuuuchh!!!! that's about the most horrible thing I've ever seen.
Thanks, your Mum seemed to like it though
Nice strat, not sure about the rick(sorry)
Tis not a real one Ray, don't worry. Rockinbetter with some fettling (and a Lemmy style Rickenbastard TRC)
 11. I borrowed one just like that back in about 1995, it was blue. Hope that helps.
 12.
Trigger's Broom ?
And then some, original scratchplate, that is all.
 13.
Sounds desperate pics
Ok, this here thingy And I used to own this (technically i still do but it has had the body replaced since) And it isn't a bass.
 14. I still have my grandad's old Wharfedale Chevin XP2 speakers, they are also still thoroughly excellent, off the back of a NAD amp I got for about a fiver 15 or so years ago, and my old Djing deck. Second hand is your best bet.
 15. All my gear has lived in a badly converted garage for the last decade with no problems (I lined the walls with plywood and carpets, but there's no heating in there). it has since been moved into a double skinned shed, which i anticipate having no real problems either.
 16.
That's a nice looking bass. For your case I'm tempted to say leave it open in your garden (or anywhere outside) for a few days. As long as you keep rain off, the constant breeze will remove the smells. (That's what my mother-in-law ended up having to do when she spilt 4 pints of milk in her car). Btw, it's a bit off-topic, but does anyone have a precision fretless with a decal saying "Imprecision bass"? I think if I ever had a p-shaped fretless, I'd need a decal like that.
I was going to make a decal with "fretless Imprecision bass" for my Black P, but never got round to it. Here it is, next to it's little brother (which is why I made it, i like a matching pair) Fretless Pbass With Strat by Plastic Squirrel, on Flickr
 17. I think I know who this was, you are not alone. I've never used the bloke though, had an argument with him in his old shop years ago about something very trivial, and decided not to use him then.
 18. it will have a poly finish, it will be a b*tch to refinish, buy a new body. My favourite guitar has no original parts left, but it's the same strat i've had since 1989.
 19. superglue and cocktail sticks/toothpicks are great for filling old screw holes. Make sure your saddles on the bridge are sitting where the old ones did and you should be fine. Welcome to sanding hell, poly finishes are the worst, and enjoy doing the cutaways. They are damn near impossible.
 20.
There I am with my band, Semillon.
Excellent name, well played
 21.
If an ad says "Female bass player wanted for Grrrl band" do these same people stick up posts saying things like "I'll e-male you" or "I'm a bloke but what if I wear a bra to rehearsals"? If an ad says "Christian bass player wanted" do they feel they have to say things like "Promise you won't get cross if I don't quite nail the line"? No. They may not agree with these "belief systems" but at least they respect them.
I have seen both of these things happen before, no offence was taken (though the Christian bass player wanted thread went a bit wrong later on) Though to be fair, your jokes are slightly better than the ones that did turn up on those threads.
 22.
I don't think the neck will ever need taken off again. It doesn't have a truss rod or anything like that. I can't see it being taken off really, especially not by it's owner.
Trouble with acoustic instruments, particularly those without truss rods is that as the neck moves all on its own over time, you can't readjust it with a truss rod, or shim it and bolt it back on. So taking it off and resetting it for optimum performance/action is the only option. If it happens to this one 20 years down the line, and a luthier gets his hands on it for such a job, he won't thank you for aralditing the thing in. Titebond is your friend, it is excellent stuff.
 23. I bought a hipshot from the US to replace that other fantastically engineered bridge, the rickenbacker. It ducked through customs very nicely and was worth every penny.
