I cannot understand the dumb people who watch a fixed price item until it ends.
Bookmarking things you might want but cannot afford at the moment, if it is still there when you can, they link to the relisted item. I do it all the time, and am not dumb, just poor.

I am sick of it already, which makes me a bit sad.
If we decide to allow Rickenbacker content, it might be wise to mark every for sale thread title along this kind of template: For Sale: Fender Jazz Bass (NOT A RICKENBACKER COPY) That way we are making our position very clear - and any Google search on our website would show that we are not selling a RICKENBACKER COPY and there would not be any confusion or waste of time by anyone.
We could also have a not for sale under any circumstances forum, where we could all post pictures of our beloved r*&^y copies in great detail inviting other members to Pm them about how very lovely their not for sale under any circumstances basses are.... then the google image search would piss them off a bit as well.
Great minds think alike! Sorry, was posting as you were - yes, you can post pics as long as the item is not for sale or hire.
Phew, didn't want to make you guys trawl all the cat pictures for rickyalikes.... was that provocative? I am never selling it.
Yes, but at least we pay our taxes ...
Did this get clarified that we can't post pics of them even if they're not for sale? Cos I think my faker is in the background of some of my cat pics somewhere, or at least the back of the headstock might be...
I do that with the voting page that will go up on... friday! (Had to think about that )
Never tell them when it's going up, especially when you are bound not to do it til sunday at least.

what about the week and a half of thatcher on the Telly? That was fun....

If you are hearing music, it is rarely bad, whatever works for you Obviously if it's for mixing purposes as transparent and ugly as you can make it, but after that anything goes.
It happens all the time, of course, but particularly in the post-war pop/rock 'scene'; we're going to see more and more of this generation step off this mortal coil, purely by natural aging (hastened by illness, for some, it's true...). Real life is somewhat similar; once one reaches a certain age, there are more funerals to be attended than weddings. Such is life. I agree with the sentiment expressed that 'loss' is a rather inappropriate term for most musicians who, let's face it, we have never known personally, and have, for the most part, ceased to produce master works for some time. I wouldn't go as far as to wish 'Good riddance..!' on some of the dinasaurs still lurching around today, but I'm often tempted..! Uncharitable, I know; no-one is perfect. Maybe a whole forum area needs creating, along the lines of the obituary columns in the Times..?
I am increasingly convinced that in this age of celebrity culture there will need to be a new rolling news channel just for obituaries of people you have heard of who have died. Ray got bumped from todays obligatory obituaries as by lunchtime the chap who wrote Eric and Ernies gags had also died. It is sad when people die, but my FB and Twitter timelines are now constantly filled up with identical "RIP some geezer from some band who you should have heard of but might not have" posts. It can be annoying, and when showing respect for the dead becomes an irritant, something is wrong, I stick with raising my hat, and muttering "how very sad" to myself and then going about my day. Wall to wall dead rockstars for the next 40-50 years, and on and on and on mark my words. Celebrity obituary channel any day now.

Cheers Paul, yep played everything myself in my cramped little garage studio. Mostly because I am supposed to be taking it apart and sorting through the crap before we move house in a month or so. Cat on the Sofa has been a family favourite since I made it up whilst pissed in the kitchen with the wife and kiddies last summer. Glad it is spreading around. Maybe i should just go with the stupid throwaway stuff and stop trying to write proper songs. Thanks for the love Paul.

http://plasticsquirrel.bandcamp.com/album/political-correctness-gone-trad-ep Here we go, my friend Joe challenged me to write a folk album with the title Political Correctness gone trad, and I started well and wrote a couple of songs that fit the theme. I then got bored made it into an EP and added 2 of the most ridiculous and unimaginative songs I have ever written into it as well. It is quite funny though, and as an exercise in learning Reaper, and using my new home-made vocal booths and other bizarre toys, it was fun to do. Have a listen, it'll stream for nothing, and the download is only 50p if you fancy a punt.

oooh, beatles and Victor Wooten in the same thread, this should get interesting
I am lazier as I don't have to move from the spot I am standing on to alter my sound at the amp
Hang on, I'm a bass player, why am I changing the sound from indistinct low endy thump?

i remember the adverts for them, they look very fun. There is also a bloke round here who busks with one at the market. He is a very old feller doing old trad sea shanties and folk songs. It truly is a wonder to behold.

Us originals bands are usually lucky if they cover the cost of the petrol to get to the gig, so yeah, showcase sounds good, get them involved, start a scene. BRX will be along in a minute to tell you you can all be paid if you work hard enough. He is right, but I am lazy

Don't know if any of you are fans, but John Grant posted this on his FB page this morning https://www.facebook.com/john.grant.9843/posts/10151414145886440
after my show in Brighton tonight, someone stole my computer off the stage which has my entire life on it - i'm crushed and still can't believe it
Even if you're not a fan, this is a pretty sh*tty thing to do, share it about, and help out one of the good guys.
Friend of mine got a similar 'anonymous pompous thicko' letter complaining about his (my friend's) dog barking at night. Which it did a bit, to be fair. Trouble was, there was only one other house within a mile radius and that was his next-door neighbour's. So much for anonymity.
I got one of them, it was obvious who sent it, and equally obvious that he had the wrong dog, it's the one next door that barks early in the morning, mine's too lazy. -
Piezo pickups - Is there much difference?
Dave Vader replied to MiltyG565's topic in Repairs and Technical
Just don't expect too much, I spent ages designing and building multi-functional guitars 15 or so years ago, piezos, midi hookups etc etc, and they turned out to be not much good at any one thing, so I went back to having a strat, a tele, an SG and a couple of acoustics, and doing midi stuff with keyboards. It all sounded better in the end. Fun to do though, btw, Alan IS ACG pretty much. -

Old Music Mag Interviews - SO much better than nowadays
One thing about reading Guitar Player back in those days was it was full of musicians and references to music that I had never actually heard . I used to read Jeff Berlin's Bass And Beyond column for years before I ever heard a record with him on ( I know some out there might see that as a blessing ...) , and so many other players were similaly unknown . It's easy to forget that nowadays you can read about a player or a piece of music and get on Youtube and be watching and / or listening to things within thirty seconds . In those days unless you had the money to buy expensive import records you were often left to imagine what these people sounded like , unless they were session musicians who had played on chart records you had heard this side of the Atlantic .
I have been very disappointed with a lot of records as a result of this phenomenon. Also I've liked stuff i expected to hate, so it's quite balanced. Sadly, seeing the name of a band that reminds you of being 13, and you are convinced you were into sometimes leads you to buy records you otherwise wouldn't. Especially when it turns out you had never heard them and just read about them in a magazine and thought they sounded like the sort of thing you'd like. Al Di Meola however, when I finally got my hands on his records, didn't really disappoint. Unlike the later mags that came with CDs of the stuff that was transcribed in them, that meant I knew what it sounded like before I threw my fingers at it, and came up with something completely wrong, but utterly sublime, and therefore mine, and totally original. Once you knew what it should sound like, those experiments vanished. -
Yep usually the jack socket not separating when the lead is removed. Won't be long until the passive only crowd chip in with daft comments about this being one of many reasons they don't like active basses etc, natural tone etc etc straight into an active di box or fancy amp with active eq controls
Hello, I am cheap and don't like buying batteries, I am also very lazy, and don't like changing batteries. Those are my only real excuses.
