Stage left or tage right. Who cares ?
Funnily enough, I read an interview with one of the bands who were famous for their "10,000 brown m & m" requests (I think it was Van Halen). They said that the reason for it was simple---their requirements for things like power supply, lighting equipment, etc, were pretty complicated and very particular. If they turned up and the M&Ms hadn't been done then they could be sure the rest of their requirements wouldn't have been met correctly either!
Yeah, I think that was in a Dave Lee Roth interview. I don't think it was quite that many m&ms but there was a certain logic to it. -

I particularly enjoyed the 2 day bump post.....

I like to keep most drummer in my deaf side (my right) so they don't break my good ear. If it's a good drummer, I'll have him on the other side so I can hear him. Currently set up whichever side is free. -
I have a very old Laney Mighty bass, it's about 15w probably. it makes sound and is handy. It is also of no use to me anymore, as i needed to buy a busking amp, which is also tiny and makes noise, but runs on batteries. So if you give us 15 quid you can have the laney.

Advertising your band how much is enough £££££

We have a PRS account and management spend all the money in it on this stuff. Sometimes they let us see the figures, but as musos we are confused by numbers that are neither time signatures, nor bar counts. I have no idea how much we spend on stuff, however as my day job is running a print department, certain more expensive costs are bypassed fairly easily. -
Fettling. What a fantastic word to use. I've just been on the Warmouth site and made my custom neck $415 and custom body $370.
S'why I got my neck 2nd hand on here for about a ton.
-
My ebony fretless warmoth neck is probably the nicest neck I have ever played. So no, a squier will not match up. It might be good enough with some fettling though. better is also a very subjective word.

Phil Lesh. That would have been a long strange trip indeed. -
More Than Words by Extreme, Half The World Away by Oasis, Delilah by Plain White Tees, A Team by Ed Sheeran. I can play the bass part in those as well as the original recordings so they're my choice.
I see what you did there....

I have PA drivers in PA cabs, been using them for years and years and years. Even changed the drivers to newer PA drivers when the old ones went sh*tshaped. They are fine, i like them a lot. Specifically celestions in old Laney 15" cabs with the horns pulled out. These ones here.
I for one hope he continues his adverts because personally he makes me feel talented in life. It's a source of free entertainment & comedy
+the 1 Though if he's just changing pickup covers and writing short and dull descriptions, I will be sad.....
I also use Predator for most of my Bass Synth stuff [mainly because it has a huge preset collection] Two good [free] Synths that are good for Bass. Charlatan 32 & 64 bit. http://www.kvraudio....ic.php?t=325499 And this one...Bassimo [ only x32, but i have never had a problem using it bit bridged] It's quite simple and basic, but a lot of good sounds can be manipulated from it. A short operation video and download here. http://myvst.com/vst...48-bassimo-free Garry
Thanks Garry, will play with these later...

Your Musical Development since joining Basschat?
Dave Vader replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I am lumping BC in with Talkbass, which I was on for a few years before someone there suggested I would like it here more 3 years ago. They were right. Since using this, my wife and friends are much happier that I no longer need to geek out and tell them all about bass-related stuff that they don't care about, and don't understand either. This is good. I, ironically, learned to appreciate my crappy old P-bass copy and stop lusting after shiny new instruments. mostly by discovering that flatwound strings exist. I went fretless, which I would never have done without reading how easy it is from you guys. Then, to top it all I went to an EUB, which again I would never have done before, looked too hard. Jacked in all the cover bands and went for a full on original band, which at 35 I never thought I'd be doing again, but hey, look at BRX, a shining example of what we should be doing. (Not a dig at guys in cover bands, just pointing out that there is still time to do originals after 30, if that's what you wanted to do in the first place). Also don't rant about politics etc. so much in the pub, as I can get it out of my system here in off-topic. Hoorah! I get better arguments here too. -
Sorry to hijack, but anybody know of a cheap PS that does 9 and 18v? My EHX worm annoys me by being 18v.

My favourite bass in the whole world was a roadstar when I got it, doesn't belong in this thread though... And wasn't the same type.
You should buy one - they're lovely to play!
Stop it, can't afford to buy a bass I really don't need..... But really want.....
I've just put a set of Fender 9050 Flats on my P bass. Sounds great.
Told you.
The E and the A mostly.
I've never seen an SM58 with a switch.

Do all 3, let them all know that you are just having a punt at it, and might not be able to commit just yet, BEFORE you play with them. Then take your pick. Your current band (discreet has a point there) sound like they are going nowhere, at an extraordinary rate, if i was rehearsing once a week with a band that didn't gig, I would be gone in seconds. In fact i did that last year, and they were gigging once or twice a month, but it didn't work out well with the other band that I like more... ...which coincidentally was an originals band (and still is, and saves me a fortune in festival tickets, which is no bad thing, not a lot of covers bands'll do that)
