you wouldnt use a screwdriver to drill a hole
heh, I genuinely did all over my first flat 15 years ago, screwdriver bashed into the wall with the flat of a pair of pliers to put shelves up. Worked mind you, but not recommended.

I tend to clamp the neck into the pocket it's going into, then mark through the holes in the body with a screw, or a thin pencil, or once, orange paint on a thin brush. then remove it and pillar drill the buggers to the right depth. (Though not as wide as the screws you are using, or they won't bite, but you knew that didn't you?)
Gibson make amazing instruments, not sure about basses, but in terms of guitars, [s]far better[/s] different and more to my personal tastes than fender although a lot of people seem to like fenders more because they are very different instruments.
fixed. I have only played 2 les pauls that weren't horrible, and one SG that i could get on with (it's an epiphone, and it is mine now) whreas my trusty strat has been my no 1 guitar for over twenty years now. I know a guy who says the exact opposite, his 74 Les Paul is unplayable to me, and my strat is unplayable for him. I thank you, as you were....
How? I'd like to know how he's doing this off a YouTube channel because I can't see it...
Youtube partner program, once you get that many views, they give you a chunk of the advertising. Not sure how much, but not bad by all accounts. He could maybe go on tour with a well known drummer for maximum WTF...LULZ...etc. etc.

How to connect a Roland Cube to a bigger rig?
Dave Vader replied to BassYerbouti's topic in Amps and Cabs
Stick a Mic in front of it and put it through the PA. Guitarist in my old band used to gig with his regularly like this. -
+1 on the fenders, i use the 9050s, and they are ace.

After 5 years of being distracted by playing in other peoples bands I have finally managed to put the finishing touches to my solo project, Plastic Squirrel's 6th album, Kicking Puppies. I'm almost quite pleased with it, and almost not at all. Anyhow, for better or worse it is done and out there now, and you can download the whole thing for as little as you want to pay for it from my bandcamp site. http://plasticsquirrel.bandcamp.com/album/kicking-puppies There is a bit of proper bass on there, but a lot of it was done by moogs, and some of it goes back far enough that I played it with a pick and the brain of a guitarist. Shows a bit of development as a bass player really, since the last tracks I put down were with an unlined fretless, bit of a stretch from the first one with my ancient repossessed P-bass copy plugged into the desk and a pick. (10 years ago...) Oh, as a warning it is quite sweary in places.

I made mine out of mdf from work, and ebay velcro, and measured it to a silver box that I had lying about for a flightcase. it is fine, 2 tiers and 8 pedals. Or is it 7?

Yep, always been great for me too, just ordered an amp from them last wednesday, it showed up on friday morning. Pretty good I'd say. Sorry you didn't post this thread last week, i could have sent it on to you for peanuts mate.

Little finger root (lets do Am, 5th fret E string), middle (or index, you choose) finger on the 3rd (3rd fret A string), index on the 5th (2nd fret D string) and barre across to the 2nd fret on the G for your octave. Nice and movable, one finger per fret, go for it.

It always fills the dance floor up with wobbly breasted ladies. I like it

Okay, it's the driver, it doesn't seem to cope with the low notes so well, might just need playing in. However, I hooked it up to my 2 15" cabs this afternoon and it was truly lovely. Sounds great, I then hooked my GK Backline 600 up straight after, and the HB was much tighter, more focused and a more punchy lovely sound than the amp I have been perfectly happy with for the last 3 years. Hoorah, it is a keeper. Will persevere and do a couple of gigs with the standard speaker, and if I'm still not happy with it I will swap it out for that eminence I've got to see how that works out. Hugely recommended amp from me. That head is proper good. And cheap....
Is that the smaller one of the two? Don't forget to let us know how you get on with it
It got here quick, it is ok so far. Will let you know once I've gigged it. In the meantime linky to my new amp day thread, http://basschat.co.uk/topic/174828-new-amp-day/page__pid__1633731#entry1633731

I've just had a bit of a play with it. It is not bad so far. haven't put it through the big speaker yet, but it makes a pleasing enough sound on it's own, and should be loud enough for little acoustic gigs. I'm not convinced by it's sounds just yet, my fretless seems a lot less mwahhy than usual, and the low notes with my trusty fretted P seem a bit wobbly and uncertain. Might be the driver (I have an eminence lying about that I will put in it when I am convinced, but don't want to void the warranty just yet). I will have to gig it a bit to be sure, but I think it will be good. My garage/studio is all carpety walls, and too sterile to be sure, needs a big wooden venuey room to be happy with it. Certainly does variety, all the little knobs and stuff are good to get plenty of noises. And the power light flashes red to warn you if you're getting a bit loud before the actual clip light starts to flash. Took me a while to figure that out from a distance. I like the rubber foot as well

I did have gas for a Thomann Promethean clone, but I cured it. it is in my living room....
-
Yep, got home at lunchtime to see my new harley benton promethean clone sat in the living room having turned up from Thomann in less than 3 days! Sadly I am at work now, and have to go straight to an art exhibition at the school my wife works at afterwards. So no time to play with it. Would have been worse if I'd taken the day off to use it, massive power cut left the whole town with no electric for most of this morning. That would have been awful... Will let you all know what it's like if I ever get to plug it in and use it.
Top thingy Dave! I'm sorry but I didn't listen to Radio 1 and the FC show. The slightest hint of her voice and I go into seizure. I did however catch Maz on local radio a few weeks ago, good stuff. And yes you are getting old, but not as old as me
Cheers Marv, I take solace that I will never be as old as you
