1.
man if you don't buy that link me to the dude selling i'd totally be all over that! Speakers in it look like goodmans or something and i'm guessing 50-100watts a piece, i'd definatly respeaker it though.
The lad selling it is trying to get more information for me apparently! All i can do is wait and see what price he wants for it! I'm definately wanting to buy it like, but should it not suit me i'm sure there'd be interest for it on here Also, speaker reccomendations anybody?
 2.
I ain't even got a value head yet like, I reckon after getting this an ad200 would be top of my list, that or a gt200 may even just get myself a bass terror. I'm gonna try it first and see what it sounds like with the speakers its loaded with now. I'll keep you lot posted on what I do like, but I think general consensus id be bloody stupid not to buy this! Reckon this would sound good with a sound city 120?
Alright awesome never used 15's like what should i expect?
 3.
Leave the grillcloth. There is science to choosing the right speakers, and it depends heavily on what you want it to sound like. If you can get measurements, you can work out the air volume in the cab and use WinISD to model some stuff, but it won't mean much to you (good learning process though). Figure what is in it currently, see if you like the sound of them. If so all, good, otherwise I'd email Eminence and Celestion with the cab dimensions and description and what is in it, and see what they recommend. No point in giving it 1000w of power handling if you are going to run a 120w valve head into it, and suchlike. I'm pretty sure it is a sealed cab. Oh, and leave the grillcloth, mingy old grillcloths are part of the charm, and are also Doom.
I ain't even got a value head yet like, I reckon after getting this an ad200 would be top of my list, that or a gt200 may even just get myself a bass terror. 4.
I'd guess it is a sealed cab, which makes the speaker requirement kind of specific. When you know it is definitely sealed or not, post it up and someone will figure best speakers to go in it. What head are you pairing it with? Actually have a bit of jealous going on. Impedance is easy enough to figure by measuring the resistance, best way to go because it might tell you if there is speaker trouble before you upset your amp. And if you don't like it, I want it, it will look horribly clashing under my green Matamp.
How will I tell if it is a sealed cab or not? It ain't ported, if the pics I posted above are a.thing to go by! What speakers could I fit in it? And how hard would it be to wire them up? Also looking at replacing the grill cloth when I get it, though that should be easy enough
 5.
Go For it, it'a no brainer !! It's not the big Horn Cab , but should still sound good. For outdoor gigs, I use an old Acoustic corp 2 x 15 cab, but I replaced the speakers with Eminence 3015's. Bloody awsome. Go for it ! ( I've also got a 70's Orange 1 x 15 cab, thats great too, but it does have the EV speaker, not ( what looks like ) the fanes in the cab your looking at..Btw, just had a thought, get them to tell you the measurements, make sure they are 15's, Orange did a lot of PA and Disco gear using 12 " fanes .
So what's the impedance of this cab likely to be? And if i replaced the speakers, what would it be with say either the eminence or the modern fanes mentioned above?
 6.
NICE! Go for it! Expect to replace those speakers if you want big volume and low end though.
I was thinking, what if i took it to matamp, asked them to "refurb" it for me?
 7.
Once upon a time - in the '70s my main gigging cab was an Orange 2x18 driven with a HiWatt 200 + another 200 slave 400 Beautilicious Valve Watts. It was a HUGE sound! I'm sure a 2 x15 driven with suitable oommph is going to flap some trouser bottoms! Go for it PS: I was young once - honest
I think i might have to!!!! I've got some pictures here, the lad selling it has no idea of the spec's of the cab, so i have no idea about the RMS, impedence, speakers loaded in it or anything! i'm hoping some of you fine gentlemenm will be able to help me after looking at these pics, theyre not the best quality, but they're all i've got at the moment. I hope someone will be able to help me with this!!! Excited is not the word!
 8.
That looks mega. I'd happily be seen in public with that ginger beast *Disclaimer* I find the hot chicks with red hair really attractive
Just got the pics through email... can't post them up yet as my work computer wont allow webmail! it's an Orange alright, with the Matamp brand logo also on the front!! This is looking like a good deal any thoughts? I'll put the images up once i get home!
 9.
here you go took me a few seconds to find in google http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:dvWarZd...15f.jpg&t=1
looks mental that! where on earth are the speakers mounted? are they massive ports on the top and bottom?
 10.
Crude but effective as in it is a big heavy wooden box with speakers in it, and it will be loud, rather than some intricately designed piece of flat response speaker theorist pleasing lightweight technology.
Sounds right up my street
 11.
Are you sure it's an Orange 2x15 and not just an orange 2x15? Definitely sounds like a good price though!
haha funnily enough when i got told about it i asked the very same question! it's an Orange i have been assured of that just waiting on pics etc,i'll post them up here when i get them for you all to have a look!
 12.
I reckon so, crude but effective sryle, if you can shift it. Old Orange stuff is worth a premium, I'd use it just for the horrible clash with my green Matamp.
Crude but effective style? why is that? i cant even find a picture of one!
 13.
What we have here is a nice point to point wired power amp, running either 6 Kt88's or 6550's, with a simple valve preamp. Very powerfull. Added to this, in the case, is the Trace GP11 MK5 preamp, should you need eq, and effects return. The two preamps are independant of one another, in fact, I think ( but only think ) the amp was available without the GP11.
You got any pictures buddy?
 14. Yo! I've been offerd what i think could be a bargain. An Orange 2x15 bass cab for the small price of £150 pounds. I dont know much about it and haven't seen any pictures of the thing yet but it's supposed to be in good nick. I dont think Orange make 2x15's anymore right? Could i be onto a winner with this? Cheers!
 15. Bought a Gotoh 201 from Howard. Paid for and then recieved the bridge 2 days later, absolutely no nonsense sale. Excellent deal. Thanks buddy
 16.
Same here. Once ive got the bridge replaced it will be my main, and probably only, gigging bass. I did a neck swap last night with the CV Jazz neck so now i dont have any problems with the neckon the P so no reason not to use it all the time.
Got a gig in inverness tomorrow night, if my new strap comes, it might get it's first run out!! Might have to take my trusty mexican p though!!
 17.
I got a set of Wizard 74's for my CV Jazz when i first got it but these are now in my HW-one Jazz and i cant believe how good this bass sounds. Its very punchy and is close to a P than i have ever got before (out of a Jazz). They were great in the CV Jazz but i felt it still lacked balls compared to the HW-one.
I really really like mine, won't be ashamed to use it live at all, it feels and sounds great for the price.
 18.
If it wasn't for the CV i wouldn't have gone back to a P. I was quite happy with my HW-one Jazz and knew if i got another P i wouldn't really get on with it, due to the neck, and i dont like keeping a bass if im not going to use it, or spending money on a bass i dont expect to use as a mian bass, but at this price point im not worried if i dont get on with it. And having a perfect fit jazz neck sitting around meant it was a win win situation for me. I just wish i hadnt taken the wrong bass to my gig on Sat, ive still not gigged my CV P yet :-(
Bought myself a VM Jazz in natural from Tom1946 yesterday. It's fitted with wizard 84's, feels and sounds great, it matches my MIM Precision easily. I'll be shotting a Gotoh 201 on it as well at some point
 19. I bought a squier VM Jazz w/ Wizard 84's from Tom today, an absolute pleasure to deal with. He even gave me an extra scratch plate and the stock SD designed pups, and even supplied my friend with some guitar strings! Lovely bloke! Thanks mate.
 20. Pictures now up!!!
 21.
Isn't it better to widen the pocket rather than sand down the neck?
Probably an easier job actually isnt it
 22.
Essentially the new neck was slightly wider than the original squire one. I ended up having to shave off a few mm to enable the new new to fit, it was a bit of a snug fit and I certainly wouldn't want to take it off again but it plays well. I have just had a look on E-Bay and for £30 you can get a Gotoh Bridge which would be perfect. The Badass are well over priced at £100!
I've got a gotoh on my precision mate they're very nice how hard is it to thin the neck heel to get it to fit? Also will there be any problems swapping out a 22 fret neck with a 20?
 23. What problems did you have with fitting the neck bassatnight? also, i cant check that image at work, is there anyway you can embed it into the thread mate? Cheers.
 24.
I reckon it won't be a simple swap job like a regular P or J neck is. It's a 22 fret neck, there's no saying what shape the heel is, nor where it is with regard to the bridge. The 22 frets might be on a fingerboard overhang, but I can't tell from any of the pics I've seen. Is there anything particularly wrong with the neck? You should be fine customising the other two things (standard 5 screw Fender bridge, directly replaceable by Badass II, Gotoh 203, Schaller 3D, Hipshot Type-A (Fender mount) and a plethora of others) and whatever PJ pickups you like!
I'd just rather have a maple neck on it if im honest with you, prefer the feel, and of course, the look! It says on that link that it's a "c-shape" neck, looking on the same website at the bass i own now, a 50's Precision remake thing, that also says, "c-shape".
 25. Now then! I've been offered this bass in a trade for my epiphone eb3. Its a Squier mb-4 and doesnt have all the sh*tty skull rubbish that the one in the picture does. http://www.dv247.com/guitars/squier-mb4-sk...nes-bass--40774 I'll be looking to replace the neck, pickups and bridge. I know replacement pickups will fit but do you reckon i'd have a hard time replacing the neck? Also, can anyone recommend me some PJ pickup sets that may be of use to me. CHEERS Paul
