  1. I don't mind it at all when done tastefully but overall, I'm really burnt out on it as a technique it's extremely overused, not to mention that nobody is really doing anything with it havent already seen a million times before.
  2. I've got an old Washburn AB10 acoustic bass it's around 25 years old and a bit of a weird one as it's got a round sound hole. I've never seen another one. All the AB series I've seen have the diagonal slashes where a sound hole should be. Great bass when it worked, but the onboard fishman EQ gave up the ghost, so now has a Shadow pickup installed. I love it, was my uncles before me, so a bit of a family heirloom! 😂
  3. It resurfaces!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-TRB-4-II-ACTIVE-BASS-GUITAR-MADE-IN-JAPAN-1998-WITH-YAMAHA-HARD-CASE/143857900479?hash=item217e995bbf:g:694AAOSwzHdfu58j Crazy price for it. In that condition it's worth about half that at best. It's also had the knobs and bridge changed on it at some point to those gold ones. Not really doing the colour any favours! Still, it'd be good to take her home.
  4. FWIW, I recorded my bands first album using the studio's AD200B and we are a seriously funky outfit. I don't use any form of fuzz or overdrive etc. I thought it was an incredible piece of kit. Smooth, incredibly punchy and present with a mid-forward voice. Walking into the room I thought I was going to get a fuzzy type, rock tone. Ended up not being the case!
  5. In before the anti pino crowd? Does such a thing exist?
  6. Well I've learned something! I had absolutely no idea Mick had played on the prior album or any history behind this! In no way is this a slight on Pino, he's killing it across the board as always and makes me respect him more for being able to switch up his style like that.
  7. @ped any idea why links on mobile never preview? I did it directly using the mobile link and desktop link and just can't ever get them to do it.
  8. I've just discovered this album (I'm younger than most on here!) and it's incredible. Captivating from start to finish. I never even knew this side of Numan existed! What I found really interesting, aside from the usual wonderful playing, is that, IMO, you can REALLY hear a strong Mick Karn influence on Pino across the album. Fave track has to be War Games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b75woL59qYU
  9. Indeed, with my own sales, this is what I always try to do! (Where possible). Granted it might take a few hours out of your day/weekend, but if you want to make a sale, then you've sometimes got to put a bit of effort in.
  10. The costs of shipping a bass and the potential risks involved, I'd rather just use the £50 on fuel and deliver the thing myself to avoid any hassle.
  11. Derrick McKenzie of Jamiroquai and Tony Thompson of Chic. My sort of drummers in that they just lay it down with huge gravity, absolute groove and no messiness. Never interfering with the pulse of the song. No distracting fills constantly, just pure rhythm.
  12. I've had a few basses I thought I'd never sell and did. I don't tend to get overly attached to them as they're fundementally tools to me at the end of the day. That said, I'd never sell my Rockbass Streamer 5. Bought for me by my girlfriend back in 2005, she passed away in a car accident (at far too young an age) in 2010 and it's all I have left of her.
  13. Never heard of these before. I like it!!
  14. Oh curse you financial gods!! This is stunning. I want. Badly.
  15. If that's a real Fender, I'm a cross-dressing toucan named Terry.
  16. That is stunning. Congrats.
  17. I know this been said precisely 2.3 billion times before. But these really are astonishing value for money. . .
  18. I don't think that's very fair. I think most brands get a kicking at times on this forum. I love Warwicks - they get slated fairly often (often with merit), Fender get slagged off as much they're praised, my own dear Modulus and graphite basses get slagged off. But tbh, it doesn't upset me personally, because that is somebody else's takeaway from their experience and equally as valid as my adoration (within reason). I really wouldn't take it so personally. You can love a brand and still see it's faults. And as far as I can see, people are mostly taking umbrage (and quite rightly) with the utterly farcical pricing.
  19. I really rate these UL series cabs. I have a series 1 UL210. Great cabs with a really warm, smooth, mid forward, fat tone. The perfect cabs for soul/funk (if that's your bag). I even A/B'd with the Vanderkley MNT210 cab I had and the Epifani was louder and could go lower. I can only imagine how good this is!! Have a bump!
  20. Sorry Mr McFly. I actually really love that finish 🙈🙈. Then again I would. This is my number one. . . . Brighter and bolder the better!! 😂
  21. This topic has really made me think . . . with the ever increasing prices for USA made, original instruments, that has really started to accelerate wildly in the past few years with no signs of slowing down. . . . . Will there come a point where the import models become THE actual model due to the real thing being way out of reach for 99% of people? e.g - will there be a point where the Sterling by Musicman models actually become the full fat Stingrays, with the name change on the headstock?
  22. As someone alluded to earlier, this sort of pricing (not even taking into account how much this will invariably rise again in a year or two) surely means the end of Musicman Basses as a viable entity in this country? I can't think of anyone outside of the tiny group of die-hards, who would pay this money for one. Luckily the the 2nd hand market is saturated enough to make sure people can pick them up with ease, at sensible pricing.
  23. Having looked a bit further into it, looks these GR Aero cabs just have a carbon wrap as opposed to full carbon structure. Bit naughty on the marketing side isn't it?
