1. Do you have his email? Can you PM me please?
2. I have mailed them at the Contact page on the website already, that was my first thought too... Lars could be a good contact if I get no joy from the website, do you have his details? Billy said the 2014 show would work for him which is great news, I'm sure there's capacity to squeeze a man of his calibre in!!
3. Holy sh*t.... I got a reply from Billy Sheehan saying he would like to be at the show. Does anyone know anyone involved in organising that I can pass this email on to???
4. Funny how a topic just posing a question not a moan can turn into a full-on slanging match at times. There's a few things glaringly obvious here: 1. Not everyone loves Barefaced. I don't know a brand where there isn't someone with a negative opinion though. The BF owners generally LOVE their cabs. 2. Every cab/head has parts that expire. Every one I have ever owned has had it's faults, nothing is perfect. My Ampeg SVT Skunkworks had a foot come off. My Ampeg 810 went through umpteen sets of castors. My Ashdown's jack socket fell though inside. My Peavey's grille came loose, and a foot collapsed. The Hartke head had loose knobs. The list goes on... 3. I really do like bacon sandwiches.
5.
I think most of those who buy BF also take on the idea of it being a small concern who only sell direct (the markup on selling through 'normal' outlets would put them into another price bracket) and so are more tolerant of details such as parts of handles fraying, corners, feet etc as these are outsourced items, easily replaced and, although selected by BF are not primarily their design. It's true, for that money there shouldn't be detail issues, but, for me at least, I feel the money has gone into one of the most expensive drivers you can find, an expertly designed box and port all made from materials which perform at least as well as anything else in the world and is life-changingly light. This is why I bought mine. The context of things like a bit of fraying from the handle is always important. Also, if BF said 'oh well, like it or lump it' things may also be perceived to be different. But they haven't. Can I be bothered claiming my new handle? Not at the moment.
Exactly... and If you go back to my original post, I wasn't even complaining, merely seeing if anyone else had the same issue and I was just going to drop Alex a line if it was a common issue....ho hum!
6. Thank you Alex My handle has not failed, just a bit tatty as Alex says, and the cab still works just fine and sounds AMAZING!
7. I really did open a can of worm with this topic didn't I?
8.
Lots of people looking to release their own line of flawlessly designed cabs by the looks of it Si
You read my mind....
9. If you can magically make it right-handed I'll take it!
10. Yeah absolutley, I seem to remember Peavey & Yamaha making appearances in the past so it could be doable with a bit of luck?
11. You don't get if you don't ask.... so I've just emailed BIlly Sheehan and John Taylor and asked them if they'd consider doing a clinic at the next show. Who knows if they'll see the message and reply. Worth an ask though eh?
12. I have a guy hopefully paying for it on Monday so it's on hold until then...
13. Well it'd be rude not to then... Now if we could get John Taylor, Michael Anthony & Billy Sheehan there I'd be even happier!
14. Alex... I emailed you twice now asking about these handles and I've had no replies, so I'm trying here as you seem to answer on Basschat in minutes....
15. Jo, i think you could be the man I've been looking for...and I've never said that before...
16. a
Richie Kotzen is awesome. He has the chops and has the musicality. He always mixes it up and makes things interesting. Check out his bass solo below!
All my gear is now for sale. I give up....
17. That's what I'm lacking in the Audi, cruise control, I miss that...
18. Audi A4 Avant I can get all of my gear, plus either a drumkit or guitarist's gear and up to two passengers. Bad side is you can become a band taxi.... hmmm :/
19. My Geddy Lee Fender is pretty outstanding. I know there's a lot of love for them here on BC. The neck is to die for! I think Billy Sheehan uses pretty much stock Attitudes on tour too.
20.
This line-up is damn scary. For starters, if you put Richie Kotzen in One Direction I would probably buy their album. BUT put him at the front of a band with Sheehan and Portnoy, and frankly I'm scared mummy. It's not just a technique fest, either. This is ace songwriting to boot.
+1
21.
my copy arrived yesterday but I've not had chance to spin it, really looking forward to it!
Ah, you're going to love it I'm sure!
22. Has anyone else got the album yet? Absolutely outstanding, easily one of the best albums I've heard in a long time. It's not just a 'New Mr Big", this is well above that, great songwriting, amazing musicianship and sounds so gelled as a unit. I can't wait for Sep 5th at the Islington Academy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuDME1JHicY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avwo76gGTDw
23. A white Doug Whimbish Spector, really, where?
