1.
I'm a Warwick guy therefore i have to hate Spectors, however that looks brilliant.
You can't hate the original... ;-)
2.
Two points. 1. The Spector is slightly saved by the fact that it has a black headstock and black controls. How wrong would it be with a white headstock and gold controls? Very. 2. I was referring to a white bathroom suite with gold taps, plug holes etc...
haha
3. I'm not seeing that to be completely honest...
4. It was pretty simple really, just a flat matt stain sprayed on.
5.
In that case , I remember being a young hopeful with big hair of my own hanging out at bars and clubs on the Sunset Strip back at the height of the Hair Metal era in the mid to late 1980's , and a Spector bass was the ultimate goal for any aspiring metal bassist , and a white one was the holy grail , Just be careful you dont get hairspray in the electrics - they have a tendency to short out .
Likewise mate, we ventured over to the Strip for a while, came back and tried to make it work at Marquee and the Fox etc... You';re right it was all about the Spectors then, bit also a lot of us had the Jacksons, Charvels and Kramers. Anything with no pickguard and a pointy headstock that didn't look like a vintage bass. I had a killer red Jackson, lusted after Kelly Nickels BC Rich's and Nikki Sixx's Spectors back then...
6.
This is my recently re-finished Encore LTD83. More pics in the build diaries thread.
blimey missus, that's a bit nice.
7. haha, brilliant. none the wiser so far apart from swaying slightly more towards the white. @ Dingus: as it happens i love 80s hair metal I'm getting a Euro 4LX but custom spec so with gold hardware. I was thinking initially of black as it looks awesome with the gold hardware, but then so does white. the white one might stand out a bit more...hmmm, i dunno!?!?!
8. Nonsense rule. 1. you aren't going to be driving so who cares. 2. they can't exactly throw you overboard if they catch you drinking afterhours. I'd take a wig, then go to the bar after the show, sit down looking like one of Whitesnake and get the drinks in!
9. Buying a Spector, do I go gloss white or gloss black?
10. This one I built at the Shuker workshop. My baby.
11.
Names plastered all over the pickup covers looks tacky though.
+1. It's a looker other than that.
12. That's great! Any takers on Roger's Stingray?
13. Absolutely. I have the white one at home still too, but that's not for sale!
14. My main band is Hustler, standard pub covers http://www.fb.com/hustler.rock Then there's the 80s hard rock tribute band, no name as yet, but we will be exploding in spandex and aquanet on your doorsteps very soon... Also trying to put together a new originals band, but we're suffering from member shortage though (phnarr phnarr...)
