1.
He's very quiet about his band isn't he. There are a few people on here whose bands I'm intrigued by but who are very quiet about them.
+1 there's a few lurkers out there who never give away too much info on their projects... just the occasional hint at greatness.
 2.
Girls on film is a great bassline - I'm a fan of them, a hidden gem for the bass is Last chance on the stairway off the Rio album!
+1
 3. Gary, if you ever get bored of that lovely white Euro 4, please drop me a line... (I doubt this will ever happen!!)
 4. There's a great range of tone on it, much like the original SB1000. The 6 position noisekiller circuit gives a much fuller range than the standard Aria tone circuits. I've got all kinds of sounds for rock to slap nicely out of this without any problems. There's a great review of it here: http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/guitars/aria-sb-1000jt-24812
 5.
Go out and try a Geddy Lee Jazz. The shallowest neck known to man. It's as close as I ever got to playing air bass.
+1 its the most gorgeous neck!
 6. 2004 Aria Pro II SB1000JT - £700 Bought this last month but it's not quite right for what I was looking for. Limited run John Taylor signature model, with black Gotoh hardware. Looks the business! Jazz profile neck unlike original SB1000, 38mm nut width. Immaculate showroom condition. I also have these for sale, separately listed if you're interested: Aria Pro II SB700 (1980) Fender MIJ Jazz Bass Special (1985) Kramer Baretta NT If you have a Spector 4LX / 435 then I'd be interested in trades, other than that it's a sale only please. I'm based in Great Missenden, Bucks. We can do collection or I can ship, your call. Cheers.
 7. 1980 Aria Pro II SB700 - £450 This is an all original 1980 SB700, in natural oak finish, complete with original Aria super bass hard case. Plays fantastically, looks immaculate. Single Aria humbucker, solid brass bridge, brass nut. I also have these for sale, separately listed if you're interested: Aria Pro II SB1000JT (2004) Fender MIJ Jazz Bass Special (1985) Kramer Baretta NT If you have a Spector 4LX / 435 then I'd be interested in trades, other than that it's a sale only please. 8. Kramer Baretta NT Bass - £100 It is what it is, a great bass, it has reverse headstock for that proper 80s metal look, deep metallic blue finish, twin humbuckers, has a fair bit of belt rash on the back from too many metal gigs with studded belts! ;-) Comes with 80s Kramer hardcase. Made in Korea, 24 Frets, Neck Through, Reverse headstock, Brass Nut, Gotoh branded tuners, Kramer branded high mass bridge, 40mm at the nut, 2 Kramer Dual Rail Pickups, Volume, Volume, Master Tone Controls with 5way toggle switch. 9. 1985 Fender Jazz Bass Special MIJ - £400 Beautiful all black Japanese Fender, black painted neck, head and body. It used to be fretless, I had it fretted a few years ago. The luthier (Andy Viccars) did and amazing job and apart from the lack of fingerboard dots you'd never know. It's a Japanese built mid 80's Fender, obviously it sounds incredible! 10. I'm having a clearout, I'm getting rid of the basses that are gathering dust for no good reason other than I just play my others more often, and I want something new. 11. different strokes for different folks, but looks a bit dull to me. sorry!
 12. I love mine, although I did mod it a bit. New pickups and pickguard, it sounds awesome now, love the neck.
 13.
Very nice.
+1
 14.
I have a Kelly dragonfly that sounds great acoustically although the B string is a bit quiet compared to the rest. Again, electrically the E A D and G strings come across well but the B string barely gets picked up . Overall though the bass feels and plays great with labella deep talkin flats. took a bit of effort to get the action right when I first got it but it's stayed pretty solid for a good few years now.
That does look nice, and its 34" scale which is good. Seems a few people have been unimpressed with the low B, maybe the 4string is the one to go for.. hmmmm
 15.
Yeah I meant as you thought, acoustically at home practicing (when the baby is asleep and the GK can't be cranked in the lounge)
Plus, I will be using it for acoustic sets with the band too...
 16.
We supported a Free Tribute band some months back, and their bassist was playing one of the Ibanez semis. It sounded fantastic, and I've had GAS for one ever since. If you're thinking of using a semi unplugged, though, you're not going to get a lot more volume than you do on a solid body.
Was that one of these by any chance? http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ibanez-agb200-tbr-transparent-brown/3358 Did you get a chance to play it at all? I thought I would get more volume out of a semi, that's surprising... but then I've never even picked one up before so I wouldn't know!

 18. I need to get hold of a semi-acoustic for our band, and never really dabbled in this area before. Does anyone have any advice or used any they can share experiences with me? I'm looking to spend around £500 tops, and want to use it acoustically, as well as with a 5-piece (2 guitar) band, so i need one with a bit of bass. I've read some reviews of 30" scale ones not being ballsy enough sometimes for example... I've seen the Italia Torino, and Samick Royale which look good as well as the Epiphone Jack Cassidy. I love the Duesenberg Starplayer, but can't afford that right now... (Edited to correct my awful typing!)
 19.
And here's my SB-1000 JT, bought direct from Aria UK around 2004/5 (Oak finish, ash body, maple and mahogany neck, ebony fret-board and strung with DR Black Beauties) :
Gorgeous...
 20.
Bolt on or set neck?
Neither, its a through neck.
