8.
I am really pleased with my new set up and the first time in 11-12 years there is no sign of no Trace Elliot!
Is it time to email the mods and request a username change now?
 9.
It's here!
looks awesome dude
 10. I cant wait to get one... someone buy my Ampeg please!!!
 11.
Stick with the Jazz..... and dream on about the hot chick bass player. Learn about EQ'ing a bass and you'll get more than close to that sound, IMO.
+1 Never heard of Laguna. The tone is all in your fingers... The Squier J is a great bass to start on.
 12.
How's it going in Chair Town?
Pretty good thanks mate, hows you?
 13.
Nah, that's Geoff.
Silly me. My mistake.
 14. I thought Cobalt was the guitarist in Zodiac Mindwarp...
 15. Lucky man, I was only just emailing Jon this week about his next available courses... have a great time!
 16. Ah sounds good with the wiring. That'll be a big old job making a Sihouette though!!
 17.
I'm mid-course at the moment, going back next week to finish my bass. I think the only advice I'd offer, is be reasonable about what you can achieve - you'll be spending a lot of time sanding and learning the tricks of the trade, so a little modesty in design is probably advisable, if you're hoping to finish before you leave! Happy to be PM'ed or talk here, if you have questions. Long and short is I've been loving it.
Are you doing the group course or the one-on-one? Have you got any pics of your build? I'd love to see what you're building and how it's coming along.
 18.
I have ideas that have never been done!
Sounds very interesting... I take it those plans are all under wraps??
 19. I never thought the sabre was quite right, for example the scratchplate wasnt designed very well i thought. I love my stingray and my jazz so I started again combining the two adding a few features to make it different.
 20.
I reckon you'll be getting lots of requests to help design other BCers basses too! That looks really cool!
It's odd how the Spector style headstock actually looks okay with a Fender-ish body... didn't expect that to work at all...
 21. This is a helpful link if you want Fender specs to start from: http://www.fender.com/support/articles/bass-guitar-service-diagrams
 22.
How did you do that design?
Photoshop. Found a hi-res pic of a jazz, modified the body slightly, changed the head and fretboard then overlaid a pic of some wood over the body, recoloured it and dropped in the hardware i wanted on the bass. I have a feeling the real-life build won't be so easy...
 23.
Likewise. I have been saving for a long while, with the aim of getting a Shuker made. Having tried one at the last Moffat Bash, I was impressed with the build quality and sound. I wasn't after anything too exotic, a PJ with block & bound neck, but it was something that I could never seem to find off the shelf anywhere else, or if there was, it was nearly equivalent price-wise. Now, I'm not so sure, and have been looking at other builders, or what I could get as a standard bass and modify to suit.
I have just found out about the Shuker build course... £950 for a 5 day course to build your bass, plus the cost of any hardware you put on it.. 5 days and you get what you want. I might do this actually and get some real hands-on input into my bass build!
 24.
This is a good thread covering the five day one-to-one course as well: http://basschat.co.u...age__hl__lwtait and I've played the said Taitycaster, and its excellent!
Thanks for the link, just read the whole thread and I am so up for building this bass now.. I've got a deisgn idea in mind that I've had for a while (it was a photoshop bass I made up last year on a thread here on BC somewhere)... pretty much this with a jazz pup at the bridge position now instead of that MM bucker.
