1. Me and a mate are both after custom basses. We both fancy getting involved with the build as opposed to just sending the spec to a luthier and waiting for the product to roll up months later. Has anyone here done the build course with Jon Shuker? Any experiences and thoughts would be welcome... (If this thread should be in Build Diaries please move it. Thx)
 2. Good to hear it's hopefully now sorted. Everytime a bass or amp enters the vast blackhole known as couriers it puts the fear of god into me as to whether it will actually surface at its proper destination...
 3. Great choice in gear!! I've just got myself a Shuttle 6.0 and the Barefaced S12T is next on my list! Yours looks fantastic, can't wait to get mine!
 4. He really is a absolute c*ck isn't he... I think a barrage of annoying questions should do the trick.
 5. Its only a few miles from me... I was so tempted. Similar post-xmas cash blowout issues though!
 6. This thread has really put me off going to Shuker...
 7. AMPEG SVT-HD SKUNKWORKS For sale at £1250. For Sale only, not interested in trade unless you have a Barefaced S12T on offer. Built in 1987 when Ampeg was taken over, made in USA not Asia out of SVT parts but effectively supercharged! Here's a brief history of the amp from one of the guys who actually built it: LINK Its a monster. You will never find a better Ampeg tone, if you've always wanted that legendary Ampeg thunder then this is it, plus some more... AMPEG BA500 COMBO For sale at £550. For Sale only, not interested in trade unless you have a Barefaced S12T on offer. Built in USA. It's a great amp, but I'm having a thinning out of my gear, it doesn't get enough use now. It sounds monstrous, a huge Ampeg sound out of a small compact combo. I've got a SVT-Skunkworks head, the absolute Ampeg beast and this has the same sound, its incredible. When you tilt it you can annoy the rest of the band and the venue in seconds, it thumps out the bass. The castors help with moving it about (plus no castor rattle or roll when playing), its heavy but manageable, I've had a spine op and I can still carry it easy enough. I'll be sad to see it go, had it since new. I can ship it, but it'll probably cost quite a bit. You're more than welcome to collect from me or if you're not too far away we could meet half way if possible. Here's the corporate Ampeg blurb for you.... The BA-500 is loaded with professional features including a 1" compression horn with Level control for detailed high-end, a 9-band Graphic EQ, selectable Pre/Post Balanced Line out, Mute switch and a defeatable Limiter. The tilt-back design adds extraordinary functionality to the BA-500, making it the ideal on-stage monitor. In true Ampeg tradition, the BA500 offers you more power, performance, and flexibility than any other combo amp in its class.

350-Watts RMS
9-Band Graphic EQ
Mute Switch
Effects Loop
Specifications

RMS Power Output: 350-Watts with Internal Speakers
RMS Power Output: 500-Watts with Extension Speakers
LF Driver: 2 x 10" Speakers
HF Driver: 1" Compression Driver with Level
Preamp: Solid-State
Power Amp: Solid-State
Tone Controls: 3-Band EQ
Mid Tone Control: Ultra Mid
Balanced Line Out: Yes, Pre/Post Send, -20dB Pad
Preamp Out/Power Amp In: Yes
Effects Loop: Yes
Dimensions (W x H x D inches): 24 x 23.5 x 17.25
Weight: 86 Pounds
8. You're right... I just tried searching for one of my posts using the tags I'd put on but it didn't come up in the results. weird...
 9.
In terms of rehearsal spaces check out West Star Studios in High Wycombe, really nice people and have a decent amount of rooms with amps/cabs in each room - they also serve food/drinks!
And they have a pole-dance rehearsal room there. Makes for an interesting break time half way through the evening...
 10.
Yeah, Was at Brixton, great gig,Mr Hagar was in fine voice, never seen him live was very impressed. Best of all looked like they were all having a real blast, all laughing together, looked like a BAND should do,only gripe was the bass was a bit ill defined were I stood, but thats prob down to the P.A and my position. Enjoyable night.
I was there too.. Absolutely awesome gig. Am I wrong for thinking that Kenny Aronoff did a better job than Chad and seemed to fit the band a lot more?
 11. I replied too, thanking him for asking after my family. Funnily enough he hasnt replied to me either.. I wonder if he's related to any of the Nigerian Royal Family, they seem to want to give a lot of money too these days..
 12. You can also gig the Aristocrat pub. They have a covers band on every weekend night. Pay varies but goes up once they know you and you draw a crowd. Fit girls behind the bar too, always a nice bonus
 13. Definitely getting custom bass gas reading this... its looking awesome!!
 14.
The weight was one issue - moving the 410HLF twice a week was a pain but, for me its the mids - I can't hear myself live! The HLF in the low range is awesome but, that's all i could 'feel' - no definition on stage - 20' away it rips your face off but on a small stage - nothing My Spectors are mid scooped too so, no way around it, it had to go (I did nearly cry when the dude picked it up yesterday!) I went for the S12 purely on what I'd read on here - nothing but praise and I can't wait - I've sold my HLF at a loss and a USA P bass as a loss to just to raise the funds for a cab I've never heard! Mad ain't we!
I know exactly what you mean, I just don't hear a thing on stage. I'm up there with 2 guitarists and we're fighting for levels all night. I am so needing the mids from the Barefaced...
 15. There's a few Ampeg owners here wanting these Barefaced cabs! Everyone else fed up with the weight and want some of the easy life too?
 16.
Nice try lol.
A man's gotta try eh? ;-)
 17. Thats looking fantastic... Might have to get my old (not too disimilar) photoshop bass from an old thread made up soon too...
 18. How about an Ampeg BA500? Lovely sounding combo. As it happens I know a very nice man who has one for sale! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/164815-ampeg-ba500-for-sale
 19.
Congrats on the Genz, I`m yet to read anything negative about them.
Thanks Lozz, its awesome!
 20.
Does the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 have a nice clean tone? Plenty of volume? I'm considering getting one to match up with a Barefaced Compact. Cheers, Leigh
Absolutely barrowloads of volume! One of the lads here told me that Alex at Barefaced uses one himself to test the cabs out, and recommends them to pair up with his cabs.
 21. Haha, I just don't need an amp of that size anymore and I'd rather it gets played. It deserves that rather than gathering dust stacked up next to my basses.
