1. Me neither... I dont work in Aylesbury though, afraid that's all the info I have on the man/company. Name (can't be real), email and URL...
2.
It looks like a scam just from looking at that post.
Definitley... that's what I thought as soon as I saw it. Kept me amused at work for an hour or so mailing the guy
3. If you come across an advert for a guitar seller (not on BC) named Paron Ketchup, avoid this guy like the plague! ([email protected]) I noticed an advert on a site he'd posted for his company, Music Trade Ltd, seems there's a few different names, but all with the same email. Here's the link: http://t40mafia.engl...0-and-many-more He was offering Peavey Liberator J-84 basses, I thought this was odd as there's only 100 ever made. Don't get me wrong I'd never buy one of those monstrosities even though I'm a JT fan. He has one for sale at $500. His company is based in Aylesbury, Bucks. I asked him for some pics and he sent me photos from someone else's blog page. I asked him why he wanted USD when he lives 15miles away from me? The price when he came back to me (with shipping) was $1100. I queried the price and it was instantly dropped to $500 and he asked me how many I wanted. How many? There's 100 in the world!! I asked him how many he had and told him I'd seen his photos on another site and he claimed they were his pics, and he said he had quite a few in stock. He was really pushy to close the deal asap. When I questioned him some more about the authenicity, asking for pics of the certificates he starting getting stroppy just asking if I was going to buy one or not... He wouldn't let me come and pick the guitar up and pay there for it, not that I'd ever buy one, just seeing how far I could push him for fun while bored at work Clearly this is a big scam , when you Google his email address a ton of sites come up with a ton of gear listed. Don't get sucked in by the seemingly too good prices. They are just that. Anyhow, thought I'd let you al know Merry Christmas to all!
4.
Owned quite a few, mainly actives... Kay P Copy: POS. Westone Raider: m/ m/ Very much a "hair metal" 80's colour scheme, but a great shape. Single P pickup, nice sound, but prone to headstock dive. Aria SB Special II: Not too much variety in the tone. Great looking & playing bass. Westone Thunder 1A: very heavy & prone to headstock dive. Great sounding & playing bass though. Washburn MB4: It was alright, nothing spectacular. Tobias ?: Again, it was alright. Nice & light, reasonable sound, but not great. StingRay 2EQ: Fantastic, why did I sell it? 1989 blonde, 4 bolt maple neck, beaten up, but sounded gorgeous & played superbly. Aria SB Special II: Again. Love the shape & playability. Couldn't get the right sound dialled in. Aria SB1000: Always wanted one, beatiful to look at & play, but a complete let down sound-wise. StingRay 2EQ: Late 90's, rosewood board, 6 bolt birdseye neck. Nice to play, but sounded awful. Mex Jazz: Brilliant. Only flaw was the join between the scratch plate & control plate weren't quite flush. Ric 4003: Superb. Bit heavy, but great sound & fantastic player.
Is the SB1000 such a letdown you fancy selling it if you still have it?
5. I have a 410TX and it sounds great, I love my Peavey gear, but like almost everyone else, it weighs almost as much as my car! If only they could re-create that great cab in a lightweight form! I'm actually considering getting a Pro 500 or Tour 750 head at the moment to use for some gigs instead of the monster weight Ampeg BA500 combo which is ridiculously heavy. It's lighter than my Ampeg SVT (why I bought it), but still heavier than almost any other combo on the planet...
6. Just thinking now, I have actually most of JT's basses over the time. Aria SB1000, Stingray, Les Paul, Spector NS4 (not the 2) & Steinberger. Wish I'd never sold the SB1000 and still dream of an Ex-Factor one day too... I wouldn't want the liberator though, played one and it was a right lemon!
7. Hi, I have no 236 right here. It is truly the most amazing sounding amp I have ever heard. I would save it from my burning house over any other item I own... I used to own no 257 too, but it got stolen about a decade ago. S
8. John Taylor - forget the 80s boyband tag, there's real musicianship in the band, check Rio, Girls On Film, Last Chance On The Stairway and many many more. My all time greatest influence in bass, and probably music in general. Tim Commerford Sting Bernard Edwards Mick Karn and no6, Duff McKagan
9.
Well, after playing Rickenbacker and Wal he endorsed Aria (APII SB and RSB models) until '84. Thereafter he's used Kubicki (Factor), Steinberger (XQ), Warwick (Streamer), MusicMan (Stingray), Spector (NS2 - I think), and Peavey (various models) electrics (although almost certain I've missed one or two electrics), as well as a Carruthers EUB and Yamaha and Guild acoustic basses.

And a Les Paul bass in The Neurotic Outsiders. Fairly sure it was a Gibbo.
There was also the Roland G77 for the Big Thing era too...
10. haha, teasing us with those other SB's in the background of that last photo....
11. I've just taken Richardd's 60th Anniversary Jazz off his hands. Thoroughly nice bloke and great to deal with. Thanks Rich! Steve
12. It's actually sold! New 60th anniversary Jazz sat in it's old spot now. very happy!
13. Damn you evil Ebay. Sold the bass, then the buyer backed out saying he can't afford it.... WTF? So the bass remains on sale... Mart, we're going to be here forever with these!!
14. I know!!! Just in time too! Now here's hoping one of the other 22 watchers might up the bid before the end of the auction! I'm just praying it s not all just fellow BC'ers watching to see how the sale goes!!
15. Do you not fancy another Ray in the quiver Pete? ;-)
16. I think you're right mate... price might have to be tripled!! ;-)
17. BUMP! I'm now thinking I need the cash more than a trade... only 2 weeks to go until my honeymoon! ...but if you have got a nice Jazz then please still let me know. I am weak.
18. Can't believe I missed this... Always loved the Kubickis...
