1.
SB-1000 = Epoxy-potted Black Box (at least on the Series 1, not sure about the S2). As far as I could make out from some terminal forensic examination of mine, it's just a unity-gain buffer. All the tone controls appear to be passive. So not really "active" as we generally use the term. I binned mine & wired it all passive - simples. Pete.
Thanks for all the advice guys, I think I'm going to leave this bass on eBay for someone else to pick up... It has been relisted 4 times already, with no bids each time anyway. The risk of buying a dud that i have to refit with new parts and end up losing the great BB circuit sound makes it pointless buying it in the first place. I'll just be patient, a good series 2 SB1000 will surface soon, hopefully! Cheers!
2. Can anyone help with an Aria SB1000 query? I've been offered a 1983 SB1000 that's up for sale. Its in great nick, it just has one problem but I'm not sure if it's an easy repair or not? Its fine until your switch it active, then the sounds distorts. Is this an easy repair do you know? I'm hesitant to buy it if the BB circuit is crewed and not repairable! Cheers Steve
3. Another crack at designing what I want.... Why can't I make up my mind?? This is the one I reckon...
4. New Aria CSB350 appeared on ebay just now.... click here
5. You're better off using your travel money to Denmark Street on a few pints instead. Like everyone else has already said, do not bother with them... There's nowhere decent left on the street, The Gallery is great, but sell your MIM P here first then go to the Gallery, or even have a day out on the coast and check out GAK in Brighton, they usually have a pretty good selection in stock.
6. On a MIM Jazz, the 5 drilled holes don't match up to the 3 holes on a Badass III...
7. Welcome to basschat mate! Whereabouts on the south coast are ya?
8.
What? I didn't know bassists were allowed to use anything other than the E string?
Shhh..... we don't! We just pretend to use the others.... it keeps the guitard players quiet!
9.
Fixed again.
Nope, I definitely meant Nordstrand... Nordstrand Pickups
10.
Thats fantastic news!! I just wish they'd let you order one where the pole pieces on the pickups and the string spacing matched!! i just couldn't get on with the two stingrays i had because of that issue! surely it cant be hard for them to modify? (rant over) Big +1 for skinny necked Rays!
+1 why on earth have they never fixed the pup issue with the g string, its so bloody annoying!?
11.
Can't get the fretboard a different colour, so if anyone fancies changing it into purpleheart, go for it. Here's the rest of it though.
Here you go...
12. Another variation... I'm starting to really like this now, I'm actually thinking about getting one of these made or even learning and starting to build myself.... I'm getting bored of graphic design jobs anyway! Modified Jazz Body Vintage Jazz Neck, bound, block markers with 2x2 headstock Nordstrand Humbucker Aria BB circuitry Hipshot Ultralite tuners Badass III Bridge strung thru body
13. I use Ampeg & Ashdown, both are great gear. My old Ashdown stuff is all UK made. My spare Ashdown 1510HX cab is actually up for sale if you're interested...? Click here Cheers!
14. I've got a 3EQ Ray and its awesome, cant say enough good things about it, the only issue is the common ray issue with low volume on the G string. Thats easily fixed with a Nordstrom replacement pup though.
15. Arghhhh... its gorgeous, if only it was a 72! (and I was a couple of grand richer) Good luck with the sale fellow Clarky!
16. I'm now thinking about emailing Shuker for a quote... .grrr!! I knew I shouldn't have done a bass in Photoshop, now I can see it rather than just think about it, I want it! GAS!!!
17.
What you do in the privacy of your own home with the contents of your 'fridge is up to you Welcome Abroad nbtone, from a quite clement - if rather damp - London. Pete.
haha Welcome to BC nbtone! its a great forum and full of great people and information! hope you enjoy!
18. Here's my Ashdown cab looking for a new home. Its a 1510HX, a bit different to their standard 1510HX as its a bit of an Ashdown vintage piece from 1997. I spoke to Chris at Ashdown and he told me it was one their early cabs hence the spec, and it's made from high grade yachting ply as opposed to the birch ply they now use. 1 x 15", 1 x 10" plus horn. Its 400W at 4ohms. It seriously kicks ass, I just don't have the need for it anymore and I'd rather it got used rather than sitting out in the music room all day every day. Here's some pics of it. I'd like £200 for it. Cheers Steve
19. You really can't go far wrong with a MusicMan Stingray! I love mine, and huge ass end...
20. Okay, this has made me think today. This is my ultimate GAS. Now, I need someone to build it for me... Modified Jazz body Maple & maple Jazz neck with block inlays Hipshot Ultralite tuners Nordstrand Musicman pickup Badass III Bridge strung through body Aria BB active circuitry It's basically a hybrid of a Fender Jazz, MM Stingray and Aria SB1000...
21. thats inspired me, im gonna hit photoshop now!
