2. Anyone here heard from a user who joined yesterday called GEARMANS? They mailed me saying they had what I was looking for from my wanted post. Asked for me to email them. All sounds very sketchy. See below. "if still interested in buying please write me here [email protected] or send me your email for pic and details thanks"

Reply
3. Thank you guys!
4. So I'm hopefully buying an amp (2nd hand) from a guy in Germany. Will it be good to go on UK power with a new kettle lead? The serial number denotes its a EU model rather than a UK model. Its an Ampeg SVT-III from 1991. Thanks in advance!
5.
Hi guys. I've got an SVT III non pro sitting here. i know most of the basic stuff about it (from around 91, 3 tube-pre same as SVT II, 200 @ 8ohms, etc) First of all, anyone on here played/own/owned one? What's your take on them? I've had heaps of Ampegs since I started, some great which I've kept - 4PRO, Micro VR etc, some average (a 2009 SVT-VR- hugely disappointed!) and some much less brilliant ones (including the 3PRO which I really hated!) and I have to say, I honestly LOVE the tone. it's big and very, um, AMPEG-y. It's certainly got enough power for what I'm doing, going through a 410HE (from the same year). Having not gotten on with a 3PRO in the past I was very sceptical about this amp, but after a bit of a play, it was obvious that this is a totally different animal altogether. granted-it's nowhere near as powerful as my US made 4PRO I know, but it sounds 'big' in that it nails that SVT sound. I really like the 1odb Eq slider- gives a serious volume boost, not that it needs it-I've not had the vlume past 9/10 O 'clock! .... But that's me, anyone find the same/opposite etc? Second thing is: anyone have a copy of the manual? I got everything except that... Cheers Colin
Hey Colin How did you get on with the SVT III in the end? I've been looking for one and would interested in your opinions
6. I've got one, its awesome!
7.
I've gone from GK MB800 (D class) back to a HandBox R-400 (A/B class), but I'm keeping my Barefaced cabs I now have no more gas, and I have a GK MB200 for rehearsals.
Almost identical situation. I thought my GK MB500 sounded awesome until it fell off the trolley a week ago and got sent for repair. Out comes the SVT-II and OH MY GOD, this is a bass sound!! Now I'm looking for a non class-D that doesn't weigh a ton. The Barefaced is staying, as it sounds awesome...
8. Anyone had experience of B-5R or B2-RE? Light, solid state, not class D and would potentially beef up with a VT...
9. That is awesome. I was thinking of doing that! I'd actually considered the B2RE as it looks pretty similar in spec to the BA500, although that would need a VT for the tube tone.
10. Are the solid state ones any good?
11. With the PF its just reliability, they've had bad press for dying and going pop....
12. I was wondering about the SVT*-PRO lot but I've never tried one out, just read a lot about people bad mouthing them constantly saying they're no SVTs... I'm never expecting anything to sound quite like the SVT or SVT-II but something close would be great. I don't really want to have to add another pedal just to get the tone. I did use a BA500 combo and was really impressed. What amp is in that?
13. So last night my class D GK was out of action so I took my Ampeg SVT-II to the gig for the first time in a few years. Wow. It sounded awesome, like bass used to... It weighs a ton though. Any recommendations of one of the lighter Ampeg (not that tiny PF thingy) that has anything like a classic Ampeg tone??
14. It's not a bass, so apologies for posting such indecencies, but wow, what a finish!
15. Great guy to deal with. Really quick replies and I almost got a door to door service, almost! Cheers mate

17. Its the same guy that tried to scam me yesterday! The dick sent me two pics of a bass he 'owned', one fretted and one fretless!
18. Beware of this scam idiot. Mario Salopek <[email protected]> He's tried to sell me a bass he claims to own, but clearly doesn't. He only had one photo of it, then when pushed for more pics sent me another pic he'd googled, but this time around the bass had become fretless. Avoid! He blocks his IP to hide himself which always rings alarm bells and is against forum rules. He has gone under different names and emails so be aware of anything that seems dodgy, it may well be. 🔔🔚
19.
Welcome to the reverse headstock P bass club
Wow. That is gorgeous!
20.
Awwww, you've done a posh version of my £30 bitsa bass!
Awesome! Someone else with weird bass taste!
21. Not strictly right, it was new a month ago but I've only just got around to getting the pics up here... Precision body Jazz neck, reverse headstock Double MusicMan humbuckers Black over white nitro relic finish Fender logo on headstock (primarliy to annoy a few of my purist friends) Its not Mark's normal retro replica build, but its what I wanted. Its a beast, its passive and is stupidly powerful!
22. They do build to spec per se, but they use necks made by their supplier, they don't make them themselves.
