1. Yes! Nice one! So......more on the way now then?
2. I had one of these as well - washburn stage series B20 (right hand version tho) - I looked for one for ages - 10 years maybe after I saw Pete Way playing one - finally got one imported from the States and hated it and sold it for a huge loss - isn't GAS great https://picasaweb.google.com/pjmuck/1983WashburnB20Bass#5390318326385432386
3. I've a Lakland Duck Dunn Special edition - made before they did the signature model and based on his '57 P bass. 33 were made, haven't seen another in the UK..
4. I'm sure it will be fine Mel - I haven't bought a new bass in years and they've all been great apart from one- even that one I sold for what I bought it for. I've actually been toying with the idea of an Ibanez myself (my son had an SR300 for a few months and it was great - wish I'd held on to it) If you have any problems I'm sure we'll all be able to help you out; I might even buy it off you if you don't like it.
5. or give this chap a shout - you never know... http://www.radiorewi..._vance_page.htm Was it for Cozy's Over the Top LP? I think Jack Bruce played on that..
6. There might be hope - the BBC seem to be releasing some sessions from Tom's Friday Rock Show - I picked up a Saxon concert I was at that was recorded for it in 1984 ish - had it on cassette lost it, same thing as you - found it on iTunes "BBC in Concert" If not maybe try some of the Rainbow or DP forums, you never know....
7.
Probably, I'm not too worried about tone at that volume, any recommendations
Kent Armstrong are pretty good and he'll make it for the radius of your board
8. Hmm I reckon about 1.5 millimeters per microsecond, although if you whip it up right good it'd be slower - is it in the fridge?
9. I really like the look of them but ...
Sound travels faster in aluminium than hardwoods so the attack of a note is faster in a Square One bass.
Really? Hmmm so the speed of sound in hardwood is about 3900 metres/sec in Aluminium it's about 6500m/s so are they really telling me that I'd be able to spot the difference over the length of a bass or that it would have anything to do with the sound anyway? Can't they just say they look great and unusual and sound great as they have a decent pickup and preamp? Maybe I'm just grumpy with a Spanish holiday sangria hangover
10. White vinegar and baking soda are good too. If there's loads of oil and crud put it in the dishwasher as well on a boil wash - works great for cleaning engine parts if you're restoring a car too. Probably best to do this when the wife is out though
11.
,i just bought an ELT from the from sale section on here for £260.
That's a great price for a brilliant bass - I need to get myself a nice old Aria again, they really are superb
12. last time I did it the seller just used the US mail as others have mentioned - really good and half the price of FedEx - came through Parcel Force this end
13. yes seen this a few times - I remember a chap at a motley crue concert nearly knocking out half the audience in Tommy Lee's solo!
14.
I use a Yamaha EMX powered mixer (can be had for 200 quid ish 2nd hand) and a couple of passive speakers.
+1 to the Yamaha - one of the functions bands I play in has one (not sure the wattage) but great bit of kit
15. for me it needs to be memorable, melodic and have something to it that makes me go "oh I'd never have thought of playing that bit"
16. looks like it - I think Matsumoku's had different headstock scrolls and brass cavity covers - still be a cracking bass tho
17. and the music styles were generally different - early 70's rock/root notes slowly turning into late 70's disco with more prevalent finger work into 80s slap funky styles - horses for courses I suppose
18. Great stuff - thanks - my daughter''s learning piano at the mo (just got grade 3 distinction with full marks in all her pieces ) - this will be great for her
19. Lakland Bob Glaub MM Stingray 5 Ibanez SR 5 string of some sort Fender P Fretless Framus Blond Upright would do me nicely, so just another 3 to get then....
20. I'm in AboutTime- functions band An occasionally The Aerojets - 50’s Rock an Roll And even more occasionally Vinyl Tap, spinal tap tribute band
21. Anything by Reo Speedwagon must be up there in the 80s cheese stakes - any band that uses rhymes like " can't help this feeling anymore, bring this ship into the shore, and throw away the oars" and manage to keep a straight face get bonus Gorgonzola points in my book
22. There's quite a few apps on the iTunes Store - I'm sure it would be the same for android as well
23. What a hugely underrated band they are - Jim Lea created some great and original basslines
24.
It's uncertain, but the end is always clear.
would it save our city as well as our basses?
25.
I`m an experianced biker and the thought of going down the road with a bass strapped to my back is a rather large no no. Riding a 125 when you have just passed your CBT (and assuming you have little or no experiance riding a bike) is scary enough without the bass being on your back. Please trust me on this. Much better to get a small car and do your car test if you don`t already have it.
I carried my bass on my back a few times on my motorbike (vfr800) in a rucksack gig bag - bad idea aside from the seat pushing the bass higher than normal the wind resistance was outrageous. Please don't do it Have you looked at zip car or something like that?
