and lets face it most pop songs have the most boring repetitive basslines imaginable. There's enough decent music to keep us out of trouble I think

It depends on what you're playing - good bit of swing on a double bass it's very handy for figuring out what the hell is going on, run of the mill covers in a band you'll never use it (or I never do)

I usually use the main EQ to get rid of the feed back in the room not to get right sound - place your channels at levels needed, raise the master volume until you start getting feedback, EQ it out, raise again and EQ next freq out etc - lower the master slightly and you'll be feedback free. Use the channel EQ's to get the right sound from each channel. (if that all makes sense?)

The usual scales and arpeggios but more importantly practice a poker face with an air of "I'm playing notes you lesser talented musicians wouldn't comprehend" Arco helps too

Sounds like a great compromise - as the others have said make sure it's not damp or everything will go rusty and the cones will go plampy (technical term ) Make sure he's got a good lock on the door as well. The other option might be storing it where you rehearse - if it's a studio they'll usually look after it for you if you're a regular. Or (making it up as I go) Why don't you get a cheaper cab (peavey 4x10 / 2x10 are dirt cheap these days) and just use that for rehearsals and store that in the outhouse; use your good cab for gigs?

The other thing to bear in mind is the speed limit for a Transit like van is less than a car or people carrier - 50 mph or 60 on a motorway. Car derived vans are ok.

Well first up, if it's injured rest it or it will take miles longer to fix or you'll get long term issues. If you really really really need to gig get some strapping tape from boots and some volterol. Strap it enough to support but not enough to restrict it. If it's really bad strap it to your first finger. Just because you can do this doesn't make it a good idea though Exercises depend on what you've done but there's loads on line you can look at - if it's just a practice just sit it out, the world won't end....

Hi all, Friend of mine who's a drummer has a gig booked for the 17th November in Coulsdon social club and their bass player isn't available (I'm gigging myself that day so can't cover) It'll be standard cover band stuff nothing too taxing but they're lovely chaps and a great female vocalist, paid gig as well.
