1. These are awesome - in the days when schecter were at the cutting edge of great guitar makers

really like it - maybe it's my age and the hours I spent playing it on my atari rather than homework or bass practice
3. Valerie seems to be turning into the future Mustang Sally with all the bands I've Depped with lately, it's beginning to grate...
4. Gorgeous bass - screams matsumoku quality a mile off
5.
I thought of the gramma pad... wonder how I could find out if it would do the trick?
have a word with Alex Claber (on here) he gave me some of the same foam that Gramma Pad use when I bought my Super T - he might still have some or be able to tell you where you can get some a lot cheaper than an Auralex. If I can remember where the hell I've put mine you;re more than welcome to it
6. fantastic - thank you - we should make this a sticky
7. I think it;s a wise move but take a look at the Lakland Glaubs as well - very cheap at the mo and superior to the MIJ Precisons - you're welcome to try out my DD special (essentially a glaub) if you're over this way anytime. The most important thing is to keep playing and keep happy - getting rid of all your debts will help and if you sell your guitars on here at least you'll know where they are when you want one back
8. I had a MAB-20/5 in the early nineties - wasn't great especially as I "upgraded" from a Matsumoku LEB heritage which was awesome. The low B string was awful, no tone at all but nice slim neck and flash sparkly red finish - four strings I think were a lot nicer as were the higher range Magnas (MAB40 & 60s) anyway well worth 70 bucks!
9. full on - all day everyday - depends on the bass tho - my lakland sings on full tone, my fender sounds like a it's being played underwater so I tend to back it off
10. when your fee covers enough to pay you a few quid and cover the £80-100 for the pa man/hire/lights etc. We used to do it all the time in one of my old bands - used the same chap each time didn't need a sound check (he was great, PA was great, lights monitors mics the lot for £80) I used to turn up 1/2 hour before the gig tune up and play and was out the door 1/2 hour after it finished - awesome!
11. Hello - I've been listening to the captain by Biffy Clyro - the chap's just using a 4 string Jazz but what's he using for the effect? Just an octobass type thingymabob? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CssEPFcGwLg
12. yes, well worth fixing (although I'd probably just use it for practice at home any way) just been looking at the wiring diagrams - both p/ups share the buffer and the preamp (washburn CM4) so could be either of those (and might just be power to the preamp - my technical "down the swanny" term covers everything from"the volumes turned down" to "arrgghh! it's on fire!" ) Let me have a dig about and a discussion about the value of another bass with my wife and I'll drop you PM over later
13. Is the pre-amp installed under the cover in the back or is there a cut out block in the side? I'm assuming the low output is the pre-amp gone down the swanny from your other posts?
14. Hi Could you tell me if it has much volume unplugged? Would you be happy to post? Thanks Bob
15. Hmmm, so you're going to power the carlsbro and a monitor with 100w amp? good luck If I were you (assuming theres no line out effects loop or tuner output on the carlsbro) I'd either run through a powered monitor and take the line out to the carlsbro or split the signal or upgrade the amp. If the amps not loud enough on it's own it's unlikely to be loud enough by adding a speaker. srm150s have a straight line out....
16. I'd look at one of the mackie powered pa monitors - they;re very good
17.
Can't beat that :-)
no - beating kids is against the law these days. good price for a bass though!
18. you can look here for more info - http://www.kaybass.com/ ask the seller to read the serial number on the Kay bass viol sticker inside the f hole to date it PS don't confuse them with the cr*ppy Japanese electric basses of the seventies (not sure if that's what you meant in your OP)
19. Mr King or Mr Slobluesine should be along in a while to give the full Kay lowdown but they're generally revered as excellent ply basses (I'd like one!) pretty rugged except the neck joint where they all (most) seem to snap - these days englehardt make the same basses to the old pattern. Prices for them are usually inflated a bit by the name you can get a very very decent bass for the £1500-2000K that a Kay usually goes for but they're great basses. If it's this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kay-3-4-Size-Double-Bass-/200827067597?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Sting_Instruments&hash=item2ec239dccd#ht_500wt_932 and it stays at £40, buy it
20. it's always good to learn a new instrument, you never know where it will lead - if you like the idea go for it, buy everything secondhand so if it falls apart you don't lose much money..
21. Sounds like a plan - I like the idea of a Dj5 with a p bass pick up as well - if I could get a five string version of the Lindy fralin in my duck dunn that would be outstnding
22. That's nothing - I did a charity gig in the nineties - "Free Nelson Mandela" - they never bloody sent me one, b*stards.
23. So, I haven't played a 5 string since about 1992 when I had an awful passive Aria MAB 20 and gave up on the idea but I'm doing a lot more deps so I five string would make my life easier with the various key changes etc. what would be a good choice? I like quite a wide neck, current favourite is a Lakland Duck Dunn Special edition (not the signature range with the jazz neck - it's one of 33 made and based on a Glaub with a fifties P bass neck type dimensions) Prefer the deep creamy cut through the mix P bass sound, tried a jazz in the past and didn't like it, also had a Status Shark and hated that, Musicman Sterling, couldn't get a decent sound out of that either. Budget.... £800-1000 max I suppose, secondhand, never buy new these days!
24. that's extremely nice....
