1. Blimey you must have quiet amp - I tried the bassmax and a platnum pro and still got loads of feedback - but we do play bloody loud. I use a moses graphite mag pickup now but obviously have to use steel strings which is tough on the fingers
2. excellent - I can see I'm going to have to try and make you my new best friend - find me a sorted Kay for £550!!! fantastic mate.Do you always use a bassmax? Don't get hideous feedback issues?
3. yes good point and my technique could always do with improving. Saying that tho it's pretty fast basslines for an hour and a half at a pop so softer strings would undoubtedly help - I'll just turn the amp up if it's quieter!
4. yep - started playing gigs regularly again after the summer break and have blisters on blisters again - on the hand cramp issues earlier - We regularly do 3 hour shows, about 1 1/4 hour per set; plenty of water really helps as does putting your finger tips on your bass and gently pushing down; move your whole wrist about before you play and **bob patent tip #1** just before you play go to the loo and hold your hands and arms under the handdryer to really warm them up - works wonders! bit of a bugger when there isn't a handdryer mind...
5. Cracking bass sound! I have a blonde framus DB - helpfully not for sale tho What strings and pick up are you using?
6. OK, last chance for mates rates and outrageous offer acceptances on basschat before I ebay it tomorrow........

8. oh I see - not my wall or little bass - they were photos from the chap I bought it from - always wondered about it myself (and the really tiny one in the background) Maybe he had elves and pixies in his garden that used to play them or maybe they got tumbledried on too high a heat or something...
9. Hi all, I have for sale a 2002 Quilted Maple Top American Fender Jazz Deluxe, really superb instrument, lovely thin neck and easy to play. These were the top of the range instruments when made and as such it has a bound rosewood board with pearl block inlays, quilt maple top in tobacco burst finish- drop dead gorgeous. It has gold hardware, & vintage noiseless pickups with an 18v 3 eq. monster tone! It is all completely original, very light at only 8.6 lbs, in superb condition (no marks at all & comes in a dark brown Fender Deluxe case. I bought this from Heartbreaker in January or so I've taken the liberty of using his photos - [s]priced at what I bought it for £850 ono[/s] £800 ono including case - it's cluttering up my mind as I'm not using it so make me a sensible offer! Can deliver at cost if required (I'd rather not post but will if someone insists)
10. My chinese friend's granny told me that ranking affected your eyesight so I'm not going to enter the conversation.....
11. Hmm that's a good point - the bumping idea's interesting as well....
12. Thanks Chaps - Looks like I'll place an order in with Mr Kolstein I think see how that goes - still feel a wimp tho, beaten by thin strands of wire
13. Hello, as some of you may know I play in a 50s rock & roll band, use a mag pickup and regularly do 3 hour sets and all that jazz or errm rock and roll.. Anyway I currently use a Spiro Weichs, mixture of slap and pizz (mostly pizz) and generally get blisters every gig and practice even after two years or so - sometimes I get away with it, mostly not! So is there a lower tension magnetic string I coud try? I don't want to go the piezo route, been there got fed up with the feedback
14. leave it for a couple of days - the blister "juice" naturally contains an agent the will harden skin - if it hasn't gone after a couple of days get rid of it however you like
15. Post holiday Bump Now also will sell for what got it for - £850 thanks Bob
16. That's disappointing - I have passed on everyone's details. Like I mentioned in the original post I don't know these chaps really just jammed with them for an hour - so thought it would be nice to help people out - sorry if they let you down
17. Here's my 2003 Duck Dunn Special edition - this was a run of only 33 they did before the general release red one with the block inlays - superb guitar; the best I've played- it just sings and plays itself.....
18. It looks even better in the flesh! I'll put some photos up when my new camera arrives on friday.
19. Hi All, I have a fantastic USA Fender Jazz Deluxe Quilted Maple Top, bound and blocked neck in absolutely as new condition - one of the best looking guitars I've seen in a long time. Comes with a great fender hardcase again all good. 18V electrics, three band EQ, noiseless pickups - sounds brilliant. I just can't get on with it for some reason - I guess I'm just a P bass type chap! Anyway happy to trade for a nice Precision seventies, eighties maybe or maybe something else that takes my fancy - happy to add some cash if needed. To give you a guide I paid £850 off here about 6 months ago here's the original thread from Heartbreaker Fender Jazzery Goodness http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...amp;hl=jazz+qmt I'll post some more pictures later if needed thanks Bob
20. Hello, I did a jam with a band on Monday night, guitar, drums and female vocalist all very good level and lots of experience between them - all nice people as well. Anyway, they're looking for a permenant bass player for the functions band they're putting together, they have a fair few songs put together already and will be gigging in the atumn - they have lots (properly lots) of contacts so gigs really won't be a problem. Songs will be the usual functions set but with some interesting variations added in as well; Florence and the machine, the Pretenders, Blondie - the're very much open to ideas etc as well. They're based around the South London / Surrey area - if you're interested drop me a PM and I'll forward your details over thanks Bob
