I have 2 Hercules stands on stage with me every weekend and have never seen or had black sticky glue on my hands or any where else? Blue
Same here - I've got three, one I've had for about ten years now and it's been used at every gig, no deterioration, even the paint's still in pretty good nick. Do you use any oil or cleaner of the neck/fret board that might have reacted?

its infinitely easier to get a large crowd dancing than a small one - 50-75 seems to be cut off area. Bigger crowds (most I've played to is 2,000) lose their individual worries and just hide in the throng, plus with more people there's more chance of at least one person finding my crap jokes funny (Discreet might need Wembley for his Combi Boiler one though....)

Tulips should be in a straight vase and they should be black to match the tolex.

I added a band cupboard to the design of our new house extension we had done last year - big enough for double bass, cabs, guitars, two huge boxes of cables and recording stuff. Now also home to various old duvets, games, suitcases and cat boxes

Quite possibly the most expensive 12" driver I've seen!
BobVbass replied to xgsjx's topic in General Discussion
I bet that's good for metal at that price though. -
Social club gigs are fine mostly these days - all the crap ones either can't afford bands of have gone bust. Just don't talk when they're doing the bingo if you want to get out alive

That's a Carlsbro B-150 I claim nerdy geeks rights for the first time ever!

I saw Acoustic Quo last week at Hammersmith they were not too bad, nice relaxed evening not really Quo but pleasant. Saw the frantic four at hammersmith last year and the year before and they were seriously excellent. I've been trying to decide whether to go and see the current line up again after the FF, I still don't know ( I've seen Quo probably once a year on average since 1982) still haven't made my mind up but I think I'll avoid seeing them at the O2 - all their best gigs are small venues standing up and bouncing

Precison Pickup Recommendation for 70s type sounds
BobVbass replied to Lozz196's topic in Accessories and Misc
That Lakland is basically the same as my Duck Dunn, you'll love it -
but if you're playing like a mentally-ill yeti wearing mittens
but... that's the tone I aim for I agree with lots of the comments on here - half the time the audience don't even notice I'm playing a bass let alone what tone I'm using. I stick to my P bass, flats, maple - and maybe fiddle with the tone pot if I can be bothered; play my DB on a few numbers - get a sound your comfortable with then concentrate on your playing rather than your knob. So to speak.

Best Precision type bass for about £500
BobVbass replied to jonnythenotes's topic in General Discussion
there's a Lakland Bob Glaub on the market place at the mo for £475 as well - awesome "P" bass -
I think it's very easy to write Taylor Swift off as yet another talentless bimbo celeb paper hound ala Miley Cyrus etc but... she writes her own material, plays multiple instruments, created her own career through the notoriously critical and difficult country route and then crossed over to pop. She's won seven grammy's along with a load of other awards for songwriting before her "pop" career really took off, she's also donated several million pounds to charity and has set up quite a few philanthropic trusts - and she's only 25. That's not to say that I particularly like her music (I like some of her earlier more country stuff) but no/little talent? I think that's probably a long way off the mark... she also sounded pretty damn good singing on the BBC live lounge the other day - the reason I looked up (and actually listened) to her back catalogue.

I had the LH1000 for a few years, just replaced it - very heavy but if you're looking for clear sound and lots of power then the LH range will be perfect for you, great amp.

Thanks everyone really appreciate the advice, I think that's a resounding "don't be an idiot," so I think I'll keep it!

Hi all, well for many years now I've been using a Gen1 Barefaced Super 12T and bloody excellent it is too, I've done probably well over 100 gigs with it and never failed to get anything but brilliant tone and clarity from any of the amps I've used over the years. I've also never got anywhere near its head room - I'm using a MB LM 500 watt thing at the minute and I usually run it at about 1/2 power and it's bloody loud- certainly loud enough for our functions in some pretty big clubs. So, being already spoilt with a lightweight cab it makes me wonder whether I should downsize even more and swap the Super 12T for a compact? Maybe I could get a 2 seat convertible then and still carry my rig about (ok ignore the double bass bit ) Or should I just keep on with what I've got ? what do you think?

If you use parcel monkey you'll probably save yourself a lot of time, effort and money by just leaving it out on the street with a note saying "Please can someone take this to xxx" I've never yet had a successful delivery from them, everything has either gone missing or been damaged
Wow! 40 minutes for a soundcheck?
yes same here - mosty 10 mins max. We also now use an electronic drum kit exactly for the "can you turn it down" brigade, it makes life so much easier

What do you listen to on the way home from a gig~
BobVbass replied to Japhet's topic in General Discussion
Talking book on the iPod usually or a talk program on the radio - means I can get the music out of my head and maybe get some sleep!
