  1. Hi guys

Recently bought back a bass i regretted selling few months back (car troubles).

Its an ibanez sr2400 and its beautiful in every way.

Unfortunately I can't seem to get on with the strings (now changed them twice to no avail)

I put DR hi beams on as heard they were relatively low tension. The board is very dry also so gave it few runs of lemon oil so don't know if this is contributing to moving around on fretboard.

Just feels clunky and awkward high tension and gritty. Compared to my other basses it feels very tough to play which is disappointing. Action is relatively low and want to keep it that way.

Any ideas bar changing strings again?

Generic Warwick advice for early 2000s models based on my ownership of a 2002 infinity sn4, a 1997 Fortress MasterMan 5 and a 1997 Streamer LX6

I've had 5 Tuners fail on the Infinity (the fifth being an OEM replacement for the first failure)

The metal used in the gears is simply too soft.  I'm not confident in the quality of the Warwick units.  I've purchased some Hipshot units to replace mine.

The nylon Just-A-Nut II is awful. It'll break as soon as you even look at it.

Both the '97 basses have a brass JAN I, which are fine. The later basses have JAN III units, in either nylon or brass. These are fine also.

Both of these issues are a DIY fix,  but it's easier if the bass you buy isn't going to self- destruct shortly after you buy it!

Not great. Shouldn't have to DIY your bass.

Thought I'd better bump this as I have been so busy lately, I forgot.

Which reminds me - I have a question for you :

In all the time I've been buying and selling bass gear here on Basschat, I've never had a situation like this one, where my For Sale advert has had almost 600 views, but I've not received one single PM or offer!

So, my question is, what's wrong, what am I doing wrong...

...Is it the bass itself, the price I'm asking, the current state of the second hand market, my advert??

I'm a little but stumped to be honest.

So, Basschat friends, your constructive, insightful feedback and comments would be most welcome.

    Thanks 👍😊

Its not you mate. Its a very tough market. I have 2 basses up and its frustrating as you don't want to give them away. Hope sale goes well you have a lovely bass with cool upgrades.
