1.
Hello Jerry My current fav is a delicious G&L Tribute L2000!!!! It's lovely with a wonderful top and nice maple board. I see you have one as well what do you think of yours? Thank you for your welcome. Mike
Mike, i have only had it for 2 days! It was a swap via the For Sale forum on this very site. In the short time i have had it i would say its quite incredible in terms of build quality and range of sounds. I had to go and find a video that explained what all the switches do. I am really looking forward to playing it and am taking it out gigging over the weekend.

Howdy

Good work mate. Full power to you. See you in the threads. Jerry
3. Hello Mike welcome to Basschat Good man buying basses. Doing your bit to stimulate the economy. Whats your fav out of your current basses? Jerry
4. Hi I think this is a lovely looking bass It suffers from not being a well known name. The downside is that you won't really get anything like the new value when trying to sell because its not a Fender/Warwick/MusicMan and that there aren't well known bands or musos playing them. Would you be interested in a trade? I have a couple of things that might suit. Jerry
5. Good luck. Done a couple of stints and TBH couldn't have got through them without some Jamaican Woodbines.
6.
I have had a quick look (work beckons) but cannot see this posted anywhere on the forum so apologies if it's a repeat. Peter Hook launches a new music degree at the University of Central Lancashire. http://www.bbc.co.uk...cation-18579791 Chairleg.
Do we really need this? A guy from the music biz of 25 years ago? "As a mentor to students, he wants them to benefit from his own experience of how not to manage the business" - the business he is talking about is very different today.
7.
I am fairly certain that the New Moon policy insures the gear wherever it is, left at rehearsal room, in the car or at a venue. That is what attracted me to it.
If it were me i'd want to be 100% certain otherwise whats the point?
8. How much does it cost to get a video like that?
9. Yes i have a 1986 Korean Squier. The moment i played it i knew it was quite special - and for £75 i still can't quite believe it. Its tatty and looks pretty rough but sounds like butter. Its the only P Bass i will ever need.
10. Such a dissapointing thread considering where it could have gone...
11.
I own an Elrick bass, which seems to be untreated wood (Maple top/ash back), what would be the best way to keep it in good shape ? (Cleaning/maintenance). Also, I am considering putting my basses on wall mounts... However, my livingroom is quite exposed to sunlight , and I am afraid this could affect the colour/grain of the wood in the instruments. Any thoughts ?. Cheers. Torben
Exposed to sunlight in Denmark! Are you sure? I don't know. When i have had maple fingerboard basses they have been more of a pain to keep in shape than rosewood. I know there are lots of things for cleaning rosewood but there are different schools of thought when it comes to Maple.

Low morale?

People need to be more self defecating
13. Can i find out what it is you are insuring against? When i queried the insurers it turns out that in reality the equipment isn't insured in any useful way, ie theft from car. For me, if the bass isn't in the car i am usually not very far away from it where it is tucked up next to my amp on a secure stand on a stage. I am just wondering what exactly you could claim for?
14. Just playing around with this. Nice find Laimis. Gotta say Jeff Berlin puts together a pretty neat lesson.
15. I didn't want to like it but its lovely
16. I want to shoot myself after some gigs because of my errors in playing. The someone says "you played a blinder" This country!
17. I never make mistakkes
18. Nice post and thanks.
19. Hello and bonjour You have some serious kit Welcome ou bienvenue Jerry
20. Welcome back Nothing better than a houseful of kids to get you out gigging
21. Gotta say i am fed up with GAS even though i have another bass arriving over the weekend! I justify it by telling myself that i need to try all this stuff out but in reality i have all the basses i will ever need. It costs a fortune in strings too maintaining 5/6 basses. In future i am operating a 1 in and 1 out policy and want to keep the collection down to 4/5 basses tops.
22. Hi - welcome. Its much better than Talkbass on here. And do you have the Bogart type accent where when he says curtains it sounds like coitans? Jerry
23. A really bad disco compilation of tunes on YouTube. Its so terrible that its brilliant. Humans eh?
24.
Maybe so, but what if the singers on those "classic" tunes had preferred keys of E flat or D? No low root notes to use then... consequently a possibly rather thin low end...
Hmm not sure. I can think of loads of songs that are in D that sound great. Its not like the bass player has got to play the root note - in D he can use the D on his 5th fret 3rd string then use the 4th string upwards to complete a bass line. James Browns band did it a lot. You gotta love the dusty Eb on the 11th fret of the 4th string too. OK, you might have a bit more hand movement on a 4 string but people will come up to you after the gig and think you are brilliant. Its just being lazy on a 5 string with your hand stuck in one place
