1.
how much do you want for the neck that came on it?
Jeez, good question. I don't know as i have no idea what they are worth? £25 posted at a guess?
2. I do backing vox and sometimes if i look or think about what my hands should be doing i am in trouble. Its like patting your head and rubbing your tummy - you need to seperate each activity in your brain - or ar least i do.
3. I worked it out now.
4. Hi, i am starting a really similar project to you! Not a lefty but it will be a Squire P with Fender US neck and PuPs. Not decided on bridge and other accessories. I notice you live pretty close to me - i am in bournemouth. I would love to come and see your project at some point. I am a total noob who is completely out of his depth but have been inspired by some of the threads on this (Count Basie really got me hooked). I can't help you with the neck length question though. Good luck - i'll be keeping an eye on this one
5. That bass really is a beauty. How many batteries though? I counted 3. Good luck to him. I reckon the bass will go for £8745.00
6.
iTS MILK AND COFFEE MIXED TOGETHER!
LOL i love that show. We are down as Genre: Urban/R&B: Funk
7.
See; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:B:WNA:GB:1123
haha - i got this for the starting price! Already sourced a US Precision neck and PuPs to install. Good times...
8. I am a sucker for a story with a happy ending. I love it Count and am really pleased its worked out as a good gigging bass. I really think its cool. Lovely bass. I forgot how beat up it was when you started the project. You got me lusting after another Hamer. My project has changed a bit. I got the solder kit and setup rulers, gagues and stuff for my birthday and then for some reason unknown to me started lusting after a P Bass? Never been my thing before. Anyway i have bought a Precision body off of the ebay - picking up later this week - i bought some PuPs and a neck from a guy on this forum (hopefully). Not sure what i am going to do with it when it all comes together...There is no method to my madness just a lot random impulse purchases
9. Heres my vote for the boss contest...
10. Hiya Count, Hope things are ok. Hows the Hamer? Have you had a chance to gig it yet? B
11.
I got my Fender up from Thomanns. At the time (a few months ago) i couldn't find one in stock over here for under £90+.
thanks
12.
Thanks for the offer Dave, but I've decided to go for the Fender Original '62 P Bass Pickup. Cheers Brian
Hi, where did you buy it? Thanks, Jerry
13.
What do you guys see as being the difference in skill and knowledge between amateur musicians and professionals? As a student of music i hope to be a professional as do all the people at my college. But sometimes you see video's of players that are just bedroom players or play in a pub at the weekend and some of them have amazing technique in slapping, tapping and so on. So i was thinking whats stopping these guys becoming pro's?
Assuming you mean a pro is a player who earns his living completely from playing and amateur as all other types of players... I haven't noticed any difference in skill and knowledge between amateur musicians and professionals. There are great technicians who never leave their bedroom. There are average technicians who are innundated with work. I worked pro for a few years and had some great time but if i am honest i didn't really enjoy it. I much prefer being semi-pro and having a "normal" life and the stuff that comes with it - but i am an old fart. The pros i know that are doing well are ones that are flexible, reliable and quite good organisers. I think i am saying that it is skills other than music that will determine being successful as a pro or not. Sure, the music is important but i don't think slapping and tapping skills are going to make too much difference Good luck with your studies.
14. Thanks for the info. I just received a pickguard through the post - on first sight lovely tort colour - deep and rich. Advertised as fitting "most" US Jazz basses... Don't fit either of mine Be sending it back tomorrow and investigating the new laser cutter at work.
15. oooh lets have some of that stuff
16. Having seen the new laser cutter at work i am now very interested in this thread. Nice job on the pearly.
17. Thanks for the info. I cracked on with it again last night and found it slightly easier to get around the fretboard. Don't really want to put any markers on the fretboard as the fretless neck looks lovely.
18.
It can be a bit confusing as those dots on some fretless basses are on the place where the fret would be - on others, it's in the middle of the fret (if frets were there). Stick with it though. It will get easier. After a while you get used to the dots. And after a while after that, your fingers and brain sync up and you'll wonder why you found it so tricky to start with
I think you nailed it. The dots on the neck of the fretless are placed where the fret would be. On my other basses they are in the centre. Amazing what a difference in perception that makes.
19.
Irrespective of genre, first place I'd start is your local hospital's Secure Unit.
another classic
20. Thanks chaps. It has dots on top of the neck in the usual places but i never realised i was so reliant on the fret markers on the fingerboard If "someone" wanted to put temporary fret markers on the fingerboard how would they do it?
21. Hi, recently i have got a bit of a fretless bug after being lent a mates fretless bass. His is defretted and so has nice juicy fret markers on the fingerboard. I have bought a lined fretless bass without fret markers but find it much harder to play as i am so use to having the fret markers as a guide. The upshot is that the fretless with the fret markers is much easier to play - particularly up high on the dusty end of the bass. Would you persist with the bass without fret markers or buy one that has fret markers?
22. The one i have on loan has the awful gold hardware. It must be a Deluxe! Played it again last night and it sounds great with flats.
23. Hello, Does anyone have the music or a tab for Teardrops by Womack and Womack? Many thanks.
