1.
Its arrived absolute stunner and it sounds well good
enjoy - if its anything like the 55-01 that i am selling it will be amazing. A lot of bang for the buck.
 2. Great thread. The bass was a Sattellite Jazz copy - a right hunk of rubbish which i played through a grey Carlsboro combo which needed 2 people minimum to budge it. Together they sounded sh*te but i wasn't bothered.
 3. Just a reminder that i am happy to do a trade on a nice 4 string. You know, that lovely bass you have sitting in a case somewhere gathering dust
 4.
I always expect it's gonna sound rubbish, then if it does, i'm not upset, anything better is a bonus.
+1 on that What amazes me is that the sound guys and other members of my band go for a really loud onstage sound to the point that there is no clarity or defeinition. It amazes me that they think right, we got a massive PA we have to turn everything up. I am the opposite - the bigger the front of house the quieter i like it on stage. I seem to be alone in that point of view...
 5. The Hamer Cruise Bass with CS vintage pickups always gets me going. Its as close as i have come to perfection. The stock PuPs were ok but it came alive with the CS PuPs and it looks and plays great. But - its limited in tone - the one drawback.
 6.
+1 this is the best way if the DI is hot. I'm very surprised that the DI on your MB is hi. I had a LM and it was fine. I recorded with it many times. Is your gain very high or the output of your bass, maybe reduce the gain a touch and you should be fine? If you have a little mixer at home you could compare the level you get from the Sadowsky and the LM. I have a sansamp when I don't have my amp head, which isn't often now as my new amp head is smaller. But I know I can get a good level to the front of house and and to my amp and get my sound every time.
Yeah, its the one thing about the LM2 that i am dissapointed with. I am pretty careful to make sure that the gain isn't clipping and get a lovely sound (one i like anyway) through the cabs but get frustrated when the front of house gets added. That said, i have also been in other venues and the sound is great. Its the inconsistency that bugs me.
 7.
Tis a nice bass indeed What cash price did u have in mind? Cheers Joe
Hi, i am asking for £500 delivered or £475 pick up. It is in absolutely mint condition, like a new bass.
 8.
All the skyline lakkies I've had have been great! daft question and I'm sure someone out there will have the answer, what is the main difference between this and the 5502?
I can't weigh the bass but here is a link to the Lakland website with the tech spec. 55-01. It certainly weighs less than my Stingray if thats any sort of guide. Sorry to be a complete idiot but apart from the price i don't know the difference between the two basses.
 9.
very tentative for now, and I know you said you didnt want anything MIM but does this tickle your fancy at all? Its a classic series and I've just upgraded the bridge to a Gotoh. Let me know? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...hl=classic+jazz
Thanks, but really had some dissapointing expereinces with the MIMs. Your's looks lovely but once bitten and all that...
 10.
Great B string on these Plus its just lovely
Thanks - its a great bass. Fantastic range of sound. Only reason for sale is a love of 4 strings and not 5. I would happily go for the 4 string version.
 11. Hiya, ok my last 5 string has to go. Its not being played and deserves more than resting in its case. It is in absolutely mint condition. Cash i have no idea. What do they go for? Trade would be nice for an active Jazz or Jazz type bass (not a MIM). I am really open minded on this. I am on the south coast so pls consider that if you are looking to trade. Cheers,
 12. I am going back to 4 strings. Spent the last couple of years trying to like 5 strings but i just prefer 4 strings. They feel more like a "real" bass whilst 5/6stringers seem more like freaks. That said, i am getting on a bit and maybe its the old dog new tricks syndrome. So anyone looking for a nice 5 string Lakland Skyline 55-02 in absolutely mint condition?
 13.
Yes, "Unbalancing" a balanced signal by connecting directly to an unbalanced stage (like connecting a XLR to a mono jack) will always lose you 6dB. Not the best way to attenuate a signal though, and definitely not a good idea on a long run. Inputs on mixers are almost always differential/balanced - microphone or line. Whether 'stereo' jacks or XLR connectors are used isn't relevant
So am i better of connecting to the desk via a 3rd party DI AKA my Sadowsky box? If yes, in what configuration. I am looking for a long term solution - even if it means upgrading the amp to the LM3. Thanks for all your posts by the way
 14.
Alright Guys, I'm in a band. We're from Oxford and we're called Above Us the Waves... We've recorded a collection of songs. I'd love to hear some opinions from people on here. Give the link a click: Above Us the Waves We recorded the tracks at the beginning of the year in the school holidays at The Lodge Studios in Northampton (they were f***ing awesome) and Shonk Studios in Oxford (maginally less rad). The first and last songs are Shonk recordings and the middle three are Lodge. Have a listen
Like it a lot mate. Very much.
 15. Good job buddy. Love it long time.
 16.
Not sure if using a XLR to jack going into the line input on the desk would help by matching the levels better as I've never tried it, but i would assume with the DI on the Little Mark II being at line level that it might work better. I tend to find myself using a MXR M-80 (which I got when I needed a distortion very occasionally), but I never had any major problems with the DI from the Little Mark II - just got to be aware that it's at line level instead of mic level.
Thanks. I read deep in another forum somewhere that going from XLR to 1/4 inch jack solved someone elses DI problem with an LM2. Other than that i "upgrade" to the Little Mark III which seems identical apart from what looks like a more professional DI.
 17.
I have seen this on some amps were the output is very high. I think some amps do this to drive a slave amp and are not really designed to run a desk. You could buy a DI pedal and run it from the tuner out and let the signal pass thou to run the tuner as well. Make a range myself dare I say? Dave
I have a Sadowsky Outboard preamp that has a DI. I used the Sadowsky when i was playing passive basses but the main bass is a Stingray these days so i don't really take the Sadowsky out. Should i use that in some configuration?
 18. Hi, I am starting to dread the soundman approaching with his DI plug in hand. I don't do many gigs with the amp DI but the last couple have been a nightmare. The tech said that the output from my DI was "too hot". What does that mean? So he ended up taking an out from the tuner! I also remember a guy in a studio struggling to get to grips with the DI on the amp. The amp is a Little Mark 2 and sounds great through the cabs that i use. So could there be a problem with the DI? If there is how can i find out without a costly visit to a tech? Many thanks.
 19.
Incidently how does the LM2 sound with TC Cabs?
Thanks a lot for your responses. I'll stick with the Speakons then. The cabs sound great with the LM2. Together they produce an authentic warm and punchy sound. I have a RS210 and RS212 and they give no colour to the sound of the bass. I had Ampeg cabs with the LM2 in the past which in comparison sounded a bit woolier - not as clear. I tried the Little Mark cabs but couldn't hear the price difference so opted for the RS cabs. So far so good.
 20. Hi, on the back of the Little Mark 2 is a Speakon out and 1/4 inch out. If I want to get the amp running at 4 Ohms with 2 TC electronic cabs can this be achieved by connecting 1 Speakon cable to one cab and using the "link" output from that cab to the other speaker or should i connect one cab with the Speakon and the other cab with the a 1/4" jack? (connect them independently) Thanks
 21.
Well that time has finally come when i have had to thin the herd to make way for a new king (Fingers crossed). I have had the Lakland about a month now and it has done 3 gigs and has been wonderful but i t has to go. thats the thing with being a human you have to eat........ Find attached photos. I paid 400 cash for this a month ago so i'm looking to recoup the same. It comes with the Levy's Lakland padded gig bag and is currently wearing DR Hi Beams. BTW its the Fishman Preamp and the Barts pup's Collection is preffered or i can post at Buyers cost usually about £20. This bass is light for a five string about 7.5-8llbs
Wow! Great price mate have a bump on me. I have one of these with the rosewood board and it has an amzing range of sound!
 22.
Can't say about the actives, but my Sadowsky box lends a lovely rich quality to my passive Yamaha. Can't imagine being without it.
Do you find that you alter how you play when you use it?
 23. Hi, At the bottom of my gig bag are two new boxes. One has an EBS MultiComp, the other a Sadowsky PreAmp DI Box. I bought them whilst i was really busy and had dosh but never got round to playing with them. Then i sorted out my bass collection so that i had 3 basses - 2 active and 1 passive. I really dig the sound i get from my basses neat into the amp and wondered if it was worthwhile experimenting with the pedals? Thats the question i guess. How would the pedals enhance things? The passive bass is a Hamer Cruise Bass The 2 active basses are EB MM Stingray 2 EQ and Lakland 55-02 Thanks, BottomE
 24. just bought a 2 EQr for all the reasons you guys have mentioned. its a funk machine and the bottom end is just perfect. thanks Spikey if you are out there.
 25. The MarkBass amps (to me) sound richer when being run in two cabs. Probably totally my imagination - its not a volume thing its more like a quality/density thing.
